Thinking about getting AP, is it worth it?

We will be going to Orlando in June 2012. The original plan was to stay off-site but now I am thinking about getting an AP for the discount at an on-site hotel (and the FOTL that comes with it) and restaurant discounts.

I have a few questions.

What are the AP discounts like for the on-site hotels in June and which restaurants do I get an AP discount at. We will be eating at Mythos, NBA City and probably Margettiville. Do I get free parking at on-site hotels with the AP or just in the ramp?

Most restaurants at the theme parks and CityWalk will provide an AP discount...just show the AP when you order. You would only get free parking at the garage...not the hotels.

Room rate discounts vary...I'll let someone more knowledgeable on the hotels answer that question.

What you need to do is check if discounts for your dates are available by using the code APH when you book online. Then compare what you would be saving by purchasing the AP for $249 instead of your regular ticket.

You can check this year's APH prices by checking out the Date and Rate 2011 thread.

If we decided to stay at one the off-site partner hotels would it still be possible to get the early entry program if I had an AP. I've been playing around with the site and it is requiring me to purchase tickets when I try to get an off-site hotel, and I don't see any place for me to put in that I already have an AP. Thanks

having an AP does not get you into the parks during early entrance.

onsite hotel guests and if you book through universal resorts for their partner hotel package, get early entry to potter.

if you buy tickets on line, you can upgrade to the AP at guest services at the park.

We purchased an AP in May for the same reason's you mention. We were able to get at AP rate over Memorial Day weekend and just the hotel savings justified the cost of the AP. Add the 10% discount on most of our meals and souveniers and it was well worth the price. You do still have to pay for parking at the hotel, the free parking option is just at the ramp.

You don't actually have to have the AP to book the rate, just once you check in, so you can wait to purchase it until you are sure that there are AP rates available during your time of travel.
