I just stumbled on this resource and I am on information overload. Please forgive me if these questions have been answered, but I can't seem to find them.

I understand the general concept of a use year (When your points are deposited in your account) but I am confused how this relates to the rules regarding use year, banking pts and reservations (if there is any relationship).

Also I have looked into DVC Resales. If you were to purchase a small contract (25 pts) at Beach Club Villas and a larger contract (200) at another resort (HHI, or other resort with a lesser $/pt). Is Beach Club a home resort for purposes of the 11 month reservation window? Is HHI?

When you make reservations has nothing to do with your UY, that's determined by your home resort as far as being able to make your reservation at 11 months out, or 7 months for non-home resorts. You have to bank any unused points four months before they expire. For instance, if you have a Feb UY the points would be usable from 2/01/08 to 01/31/09, you would have until 10/01/08 to bank any unused pts to keep them from expiring. There's been a lot of confusion lately regarding UY, but it's really kind of simple...you just want to have a UY that falls slightly before the month you normally travel. So, if you usually go to WDW every December for Christmas --then you'd probably want an Oct or Dec UY. That way if you had to cancel or reschedule your trip, you'd have all the way until 9/30 (Oct UY) or 11/30 (Dec UY) to use those points again (or bank them if you realize you won't be able to use them at all). Having the appropriate UY for your vacation plans works as kind of a safety net.

Also I have looked into DVC Resales. If you were to purchase a small contract (25 pts) at Beach Club Villas and a larger contract (200) at another resort (HHI, or other resort with a lesser $/pt). Is Beach Club a home resort for purposes of the 11 month reservation window? Is HHI?

Both contracts would be considered a home resort so you could make reservations 11 months out for either or them...but only for the amount of points on the contract. So 25 pts @ BCV wouldn't go too far under those circumstances. What would typically happen is you'd reserve as many nights @ BCV as possible for the amount of points available, and then at 7 mos out try to complete the number of days needed by using the points on the HHI contract.

Clear as mud? :goodvibes

First off Welcome to the boards. You are going to find a ton of wonderful and helpful folks here. Im not sure if you are interested in the two resorts you mentioned to purchase or if you are just using them as an example more so.

But to go off your topic just a tad, as I have a feeling you will probably in the future ask this question. Is buy where you want to stay. 11 month window comes into play big time for certain times of the year such as the Christmas season and for booking grand villas.

If you have any questions dont hestitate to ask on these boards. Like I said above you are going to meet wonderful folks here. :grouphug:
