Thinking about driving. ? for families of 5 or more.

We are thinking about driving to Orlando from KC. We have done this before and
it wasn't too traumatic. However this time we will have dnephew with us making us a family of 5. Usually when we have dnephew we also have dgrandma or some other adult in charge of him and sharing a hotel room with him. This time he will have to share our room.
How do other families of 5 handle this?

Wow, I'm impressed you have driven to Orlando before successfully. We have always flown from KC. I can't imagine being in a car/van for that many hours. It's hard enough to be in a plane for 2-1/2 hours.

My DH likes to drive. He actually prefers it to flying. I don't but it really isn't that bad. We have dvd players for each of the kids. They hav DS,GBA,and the oldest has his IPOD. We leave in the middle of the night so they get the boring drive from KC to STL (which we have to make at least 1x/mo) in the dark. The rest of the trip isn't that familiar to them that they are bored. They love driving thru the mountains. My Dnephew (who only gets to go to the lake) has been lobbying for this drive for over a year. He wants to go to DLR by car!
