My wife and I have been to Disney 3 times in the last 8 years, but we really want to spend Christmas and New Year at all the parks. She is a teacher so we can not go a week or two before Christmas anyways. Are the parks rediculously crowded for the week inbetween Christmas and New Years? Will we be able to ride anything?

Could anyone who has been at Disney inbetween Christmas and New Years during this time share their experiences?

Thank you!

I don't know the answer but I am about to find out. I leave in 3 days for a 10 day trip. I am sure to post about the crowds when I get back.

We took a weekend spur of the moment trip out to WDW after Christmas last year. My younger brother was home from college for the holidays and my husband and I though it would be nice to take him for a few days. I can't even begin to tell you how crowded it was. If you didn't have a fast pass the waits insanely long, what we decided to do was just fast pass as much as we could and then just relax and soak up the atmosphere because the waits were rediculous. We make it out to Disney a few times a year (being from Florida) but had never been there during the holidays. We had a great time but I can't say that I would do it again. I would much rather go in Jan.-Feb. or even Oct.

My wife and I normal go in June which is pretty busy - any idea how much worse it is after Christmas?

From everything I have heard the closer it gets to Christmas the more crowded it gets. The week between Christmas and New Years is the one of the most crowded times to be there.

That being said, we are leaving on December 18th or 19th next year so that my daughter can spend her birthday at WDW, it's the 23rd. I know it will get more and more crowded as the week goes on but we want to be there at thatime to enjoy the holidays and her birthday there.

I will call next month to make my room reservations at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. I am in the process of planning where we will be eating so that I can make our ADR's at the 180 day mark.

I think it will be a terrific time to be there even with the crowds.

We've gone during that time, and plan to try next year as well. The weather is usually so much more pleasant than summer heat, which automatically makes it more tolerable. As always, have a good plan and get to the parks when they open! We went during Easter week this past year and the two weeks around July 4th. The weather truly made the spring trip so much more pleasurable. We stuck to good touring plans and did everything we wanted to do on both trips. Go for it!

I've got to be nuts. Usually I'll do anything to schedule a trip to avoid the crowds, except for next year. 12/26 is DW and my 25th wedding anniversary and she's always wanted to do WDW at Christmas, not early December like we've done in the past but be there Christmas day. So we're actually thinking about going along with extended family (those DVC points sure don't go far during Christmas time). We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks since if that falls through it's back to early December for next year.

My BIL and family were there and they closed MK multiple days due to reaching max capacity if that gives you an idea. We're just back and in the future at this time of year if at all possible we'll avoid weekends. It was great Friday afternoon and starting to slack off Sunday but Friday night and Saturday were crowded, and this is early Dec!
