Thinking about 3 nights at Pop and 3 nights at WL in December...

I've never been to WDW in December before and have never stayed at WL and really want to. I don't think I can convince dh to splurge on 6 nights at WL, even with the AP discount, so thought about doing 3 nights at Pop (14-17) and 3 nights at WL (17-20). Has anyone done this split before? Sound like a good idea?

ETA: What kind of AP discounts can I expect to get??

We're doing 6 nights @ WL, then 2 nights @ POP in June. Plan now is to be Park crazies the two nights we're @ POP. Just use it to sleep. THis opens more time while we're at WL to relax and enjoy the lodge. We'll still do parks while we're there too, but at a much more leisurely pace.

To us it seems like a good fit and will give us a chance to really enjoy WL even more !

I don't know that I would necessarily count on getting an ap rate for WL during December. I think it is the most popular time of year for that resort - last December, we tried for WL ap rate and there was nothing. I'll be trying again this year, but I'm definitely not counting on it. I don't want to sound negative - I would just keep an open mind or maybe book a room now to ensure you get one. Good luck!!

We'd definitely book the rooms now using DU. I know WL is packed at that time and I won't count on a AP discount, but of course would love if there was one. Does anyone know what kind of discounts I can expect at Pop for that time of year? I know we got $65 a night during May last year. Would it be similar to that?

HI. We always split our stays. I am on a quest to stay at all 22 resorts....

I don't think you will have a problem at all splitting your stay. On the morning of your transfer just pack up your bags, call the bell desk and they will send someone up. You don't have to be in the room. When we did it at Pop we had a early PS so I called the night before and made arrangements. I left the tip under one of the bags. When we got to AKL our luggage was there, no problems. It is very easy. The only hitch might be if you have items that need to be refrigerated.

Go ahead and split your stay. It''s like going to Disney twice! two vacations in one.

I have stayed at WL during that time period on an AP. My woods view room was $135 per night. It is a beautiful resort at Christmas time. I plan on being at VWL Dec. 18-22, depending on our school calendar. You'll need to book a room early as WL is very popular.

We are doing a split stay in Aug. with 3nights at the POP and 3 nights at the POLY :cool1:

We can't wait!!!!

I don't want to sound negative but after splitting our last two stays I don't think we will ever do it again. It is fun to stay at different resorts but it seem to us that it makes our trip seem shorter. The transfer process is very easy but the packing and unpacking is a problem for us. The last stay we even packed separate suitcase for each rersort and one for items we would need at both and it still seemed like a hassle. Just some food for thought. I know several people who split stays and love it. It's just not for us. Have a great trip the Lodge is AWESOME!

Thanks for the response Disneyrunner. I don't think the packing and unpacking will be a problem for us though, since we never really empty things from our suitcases while on vacation anyway. I'm one of those people who always looks at the dressers in hotel rooms and wonders, "What in the world and I suppose to do with that?!?" :goodvibes
