I dont even WANT to know Bri ;)

4. The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing.

I'll buy that, sort of. The left-hand side of an English-language keyboard includes the letters e, a, s, t, r, and d, some of the most common letters in the language.

8. The longest one-syllable word in the English language is "screeched."

The one most commonly cited is screeched (nine letters). However, one ought to mention also scratched, scrounged, scrunched, stretched, and the plural nouns straights and strengths (all with nine letters).

12. Almonds are a member of the peach family.

Almonds, peaches, plums, apples, roses, etc. are in Rosaceae, the Rose family (I don't know of anyone who calls it the Peach family).

13. Winston Churchill was born in a ladies' room during a dance.

Contrary to the rumor, he was not born in a ladies bathroom during a dance. He WAS born in a home where a dance was held, however, it was held three days prior to his birth, which took place in a downstairs bedroom.

19. Tigers have striped skin, not just striped fur.

True, as far as I know, but certainly not unique to tigers. Many animals (like zebras and domestic cats, for instance) have skin pigmentation that matches the pigmentation of their fur. My dalmatian also has pigmented skin.

20. In most advertisements, the time displayed on a watch is 10:10.

Wrong — it's sometimes 1:50, which puts the hands in the same positions but the other way around. In fact, in the UK it seems to be more oft. The reasoning behind this is that it allows an unobstructed view of the manufacturers name.

23. A dragonfly has a life span of 24 hours.

Nope.

The average life expectancy of the adult odonate depends on the part of the world in which it lives. Generally speaking, in temperate zones the largest portion of an odonate's lifetime, which may amount to several years, is spent in the larval stage while the adult phase is one or two months. In species common to the tropics and subtropics, however, larval development may be reduced to a few months and the adult stage may last a full year.

In temperate zones, adult odonates that survive the vulnerable period between commencement of emergence and successful maiden flight, have an average life expectancy of 4-6 weeks (dragonflies) or 1-2 weeks (damselflies).

28. In England, the Speaker of the House is not allowed to speak.

Since the Speaker's job is (at least partly) to regulate debates, including calling the House to order if need be, this is another bogus one. Well, it's sort of true. The speaker is not allowed to speak (i.e. take sides) in a debate, but obviously must physically speak in order to shout "order! order!" and so on.

30. Mr. Rogers is an ordained minister.

True. During off-duty hours, Rogers attended both the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Child Development. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1963 with a charge to continue his work with children and families through the media.

32. There are 336 dimples on a regulation golf ball.

The number of dimples on a golf ball isn't regulated. Titleists seem to have 392. Topflites have 422.
