Think I could work at Disney and Universal?

Hey guys I just recently moved to Florida from California. I got a job at Disney World (not DCP) and my committed days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I applied to Universal as well just cause that would have been a second option if I didn't get in at Disney World. I have an interview with Universal in just a couple weeks. So my question is do you think that I would be able to work at both theme parks if I were to get a job offer at Universal? Or do you think that would just be a scheduling nightmare? I listed my availability to Universal as Thursday through Sunday. I know that the peak season is going to be coming up soon here so I just wanted to see what anyones thoughts were about this idea. Do you think it would work?

Thanks!

Lots of people do it, especially part-timers. I did for a little while last year. My Disney days were Thur/Fri/Sat and my Universal days were Sun/Mon/Tue. After about 6 weeks I got fed up with certain things at Universal and left. Thankfully I got full time at Disney only about a month later.

Thanks for the response thats good to know! What about Universal did you not like? And what did you do while you were there?

I did the same job as I do at Disney, selling tickets. I don't want to go into a great deal of detail, but I was treated very poorly by management on multiple occasions. At one point prior to leaving that job I was consulting legal help because of possible ADA violations.

But, I know plenty of folks who work at Universal and have zero problems, so I don't think my experience is the norm. I hear that they treat their hotel staff in particular extremely well.

Ok gotcha. Well I'm glad everything was able to work out! At Disney I'll be working attractions in Tomorrowland. My traditions orientation is March 12th.

I would say that at least 1/4 of my non-DCP coworkers worked at Universal as well. It's just impossible to completely support yourself part-time at Disney, especially with the recent slashed hours. Also, I've heard that Universal is very happy to hire people with even just a little Disney experience.

Thanks for this!

Also if either of you would happen to know when I go to traditions is there going to be enough parking? From talking with other cast members it sounds like center dr parking gets packed. Do they have reserved parking for Disney university? Also is it clearly signed. I always have a fear of getting lost especially if it's my first day.

I was just there today, and parking is pretty terrible. My traditions started at 8:45, I got there about 8:30, and was still able to get park the lot though not very close. I know some people in the class arrived much earlier to get a closer spot.

There is construction going on back there that seems to be causing some issues (I go there maybe once every 4 months, so Im not an authority) but there are signs that say where to go for DU vs MK cast.

It's always a good idea to drive the area a few days before to get a feel for the traffic and the time it takes to get there. I'm terrible with directions, but between my GPS and the posted signs, I made it there my first day no problem

On the CP, no. as a PArt time CM, yes. Your disney schedule is based on the assumetion that you're fully available 100% of the time unless you request (and are granted) time off. You will likely fall into a consistant scheulde but that does not mean it cannot change without notice. CPs are getting at keast 32 hours a week. Just remember to call out of Universal shift rather than a disney shift.
