Things you like better about Winter

I miss the snow! We didn't get any last year which is not normal!

Posted from DISboards app from Android

I know! I think you live fairly close to me. We didn't even have so much as a 2-hour delay last year. We got one dusting on a weekend and that was it! You can put the blame on me, though... I bought the kids nice snow pants and snow boots for the first time, and jinxed us. :rotfl2:

There isn't one thing I miss about winter. I detest the snow and cold. If I could move somewhere where it never got below 80 degrees , I would be the happiest person alive , unfortunately DH 's job is here so I'm stuck here for a few more years.
We vacation someplace warm during the winter every year do that's what I look forward to.

Like the cold weather, hate the snow, like Christmas.

I'd be OK with 30 dgerees and sunny but no snow once Christmas was over.
Actually, once Christmas, was over, we could move right to Spring on December 26th and I'd be OK with that.

Skiing
Wearing boots
My husband not complaining about the heat

Otherwise I could do without winter completely. Hate driving in bad weather, hate dealing with snow/ice, hate the huge oil bills, hate the minimal daylight, hate the extra mess of slush and grit that ends up in the house/garage, hate that I can't sit/swim outside ... not a fan.

No one knows if I've shaved or not, as my legs are covered. Also, no compulsion to HAVE to shave.

:lmao:

It's cooler here in winter, less humidity. That's the main reason. :cheer2:

It's too hot for me in summer. I sweat and I itch and my psoriasis flares. :sad1:

I miss snow too--I haven't seen snow (in person) since 2006, in Vegas, and haven't had any measurable playing snow since 2001.

But in FL we stay. DH and DS are happy here, and so I am too. Just not as much when it's 99 and the heat index goes to 120, with 90% humidity.

What's not to love about winter:confused3

ice, cold, sleet, freezing rain, snow, ice, shoveling, slippery highways, biting wind, multiple days of below zero temps, car accidents, furnace going out, frozen pipes, shoveling (yup rates two votes), muddy slush all over everything, wet drippy salty boots on the carpet and hardwood floors, endless gray days without sun, oil bill, wind leaking in through windows, keeping the heat at 58 degrees because of the cost of oil, getting up in the dark, darkness by 4pm... LOTS of things to not love about winter.

Things to enjoy? Well, to get to winter we get to have fall, which is my favorite season. Colored leaves, bonfires, just that special nip in the air, college football, Nutcracker rehearsals are all in the fall. Good parts about winter... Christmas lights, sparkly-crystal sunny mornings (even if it is cold enough to freeze your patootie off!), snow days, casseroles and stews, snuggly sweats.

Winter's a long cold messy season up here. I am always glad when we get to May and can almost rest easy that there will be no more snow (although we get an early May snow probably half the time...)

I love wnter and would gladly give up summer forever for it

Nothing!!!

When it gets below 72 degrees, I am cold. My DH says I am the only person he knows that goes to Florida in the middle of summer, takes a sweatshirt, and uses it. :beach:

Winter depresses me -- give me warm sunshine!!!!!!! :cool2:

College basketball season is during winter, so I get to see the NCAA national champion Kentucky Wildcats play!

Otherwise, if I could control the weather, here's how I would break up the seasons:

January 2-August 25: Spring
August 26-Labor Day: Summer
Day after Labor Day-Thanksgiving: Fall
Day after Thanksgiving-January 1: Winter.

Is there a place in the country with that type of climate? If so, I want to move there.

Rain

A fire roaring

Turning the oven on to make goodies

Hot chocolte

Curling up with the dogs and reading

sleeping

Going to the snow.

What's not to love?

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, where do you live happygirl? :goodvibes

I am in NH and I'm already feeling the start of depression settling in over me because we're already into August. I do NOT want September to come because I know I won't be seeing summer-like weather again for another 9 months. I seriously hate the winter, so I opened this thread to try and think positive thoughts and not allow myself to wallow in self-pity & depression.

1) Jeans & boots & cozy sweaters
2) Candlelight (lit candles in bright sunlight isn't the same...)
3) Reading a book by the fire
4) Eating soup or stew

Well, that's about all I can think of. Can wait to read what others have to say!

EDIT: OK, read through the whole thread. I still HATE fall, winter, and spring. Love me some summer!!!!

Skiing

Being able to sleep at night instead of sweating at night

Skiing

Kid back in school

Skiing

Winter clothes are much nicer looking

Skiing

Ice racing my car on a frozen lake with a bunch of other lunatics

Did I mention skiing?

Absolutely everything! September - about April is when i'm at my happiest. Better food, activities, sights, smells, clothes, weather...just everything.

I HATE summer with a passion. I'd much rather be snuggled up in comfy jeans and a soft cardigan, with a mug of hot cocoa or chai latte than in shorts and a tank sweating like crazy.
I'm not a fan of summer, either. I don't need multiple days where the temps are in triple digits and the humidity is at 80%, thank you very much. Once fall hits, I am one happy girl. I love college football and the winter is when the bowl games happen. My birthday is in winter. Christmas is in winter, my anniversary is in winter. I love fuzzy sweaters, warm fires, and snuggly blankets. Plus, it rarely gets below 40º here, so it is never all that cold.

I HATE summer. Absolutely hate everything about it.

I burn super easy and my sensitive skin reacts to sun lotion so I hate going outside in the summer. I hate sweating. I hate bugs. I hate allergies that act up in the early summer. I hate humidity. I hate how heat and humidity drain me of all my energy.

I love.... sweat shirts and cool breezes. Brisk walks in the fresh air. Warm beverages on cool nights. Thick soups and satisfying stews. Sitting by the fire watching snow falling. I love skating and toboganning and snowmen.
I burn so easily, too. I can be outside for literally 20 minutes and I will come in with a sunburn. Luckily, I recently found me some SPF 100+. I was at Schlitterbahn this past weekend and reapplied that stuff ever hour and a half or so and managed to stay burn-free. A first for me. And the humidity! I grew up in west texas where moisture is a thing of fantasy novels. Then, I moved to south east Texas (and now central Texas) and I have learned to detest the humidity. If the humidity is going to be at 80%, it might as well just up itself a little bit and start raining, as far as I'm concerned.

I never get to see snow, though, unless I am visiting my inlaws in Kansas.

Hey, I wouldn't live in Vermont if I didn't LOVE winter!

i wish it snowed here. it doesn't get too terribly cold, but i do prefer to dress in layers. it's much easier to hide when you're in layers. i like wearing jeans and boots.

i like that i don't have sweat rolling down my back. i like that my hair isn't crazy frizzy. i like that i don't sweat when i'm drying my hair.

i also like fall/winter smells (pumpkin, peppermint, cranberry, etc.). and i love Christmas lights.

I like the clean feel of the cold air.
I like winter clothes better.
I like not being hot.
I love the Christmas season (which is only part of it, but that part is really fun).
I like using the garage as a big walk-in refrigerator.:p
I like the warm cozy feeling of being by a fire (real, gas or electric).
