Things to watch for on different rides

I happened to see a post where someone mentioned watching for the "13" clock on HM, which I knew nothing about. What do you watch for? I'd especially be interested in things in HM because my kids complain they're not too fond of that ride so it would be nice to have them find some things in it to make it more interesting!

I think a few are fairly obvious or well-known:

* Pinocchio -- The blue fairy at the end
* Pooh -- Turning around to see the old heads from Country Bear towards the end
* Snow White -- The witch in the window outside
* Big Thunder -- Is the goat trick still a thing?
* Splash -- The train (when it's running -- I think this one is my favorite, love seeing the train!)
* Haunted Mansion -- The organ from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in the ballroom, the hatbox ghost (since it has returned) and now the clock with 13 on it (where is that, anyway?)

The clock that goes to 13 is just after the hallway with the various doors (shortly after the casket with the corpse trying to escape). I'd say it's in the first third of the ride or so.

I always like to spot the hidden Mickey in the top window of the the Big Ben on Peter Pan :-).

I also always love to spot the shooting star towards the beginning of Pirates and often point it out to people behind me.

The Blue Fairy in PP? Do you mean in Pinocchio?

If not, where exactly does the BF appear in PP?

I watch for the shooting star in the Bayou on PotC, too. And the alligator. Oh, and the donut.

These are all great tips, thanks! What's the goat trick?

The goat trick is the sensation you get when you stare at the goat (with dynamite in it's mouth) as you go around/down that bend on BTMRR. It has to do with the way your inner ear experiences the g-forces. It works better the further back you sit. Some don't like it, some do. I do it almost every time I ride.

Thanks, I'll try that next time

The clock is just before you enter the Seance room with Madame Leota.

I also look for:
  • Mr. Limpet in the Under the Sea room of the Little Mermaid. He's kind of opposite of where Ariel is that room. That one took me forever to get a good photo of him!
  • Haunted Mansion - to see if any of the place settings set up to form a Hidden Mickey (there is usually one).
  • Indy Jones - I haven't been able to see it very well, but there is a parking lot sign (Eeyore) up among the props in safety film room. It's up there because the attraction sits on an area that used to be part of the parking lot.
  • Snow White - touch the brass apple at the entrance.
  • Sleeping Beauty Walk Through - touch one of the door handles (I forget which one, but it's towards the middle of the walkthrough...I think).

It doesn't have to do with the rides themselves but I like to get a look at the construction being done on Star Wars Land and the new Rivers of America from certain sports on Splash mountain and Big Thunder.

Yes, Pinocchio! Thanks. Where's the donut?

I look for Mr. Limpet, too! It's great seeing him there. I had no idea about the parking lot sign in Indy!

It's in the bar scene to the far right, up high in some cobwebs. It's called the 'Pope Donut', supposedly Walt would order donuts for meetings and Mr Pope was always late so Walt would set a donut aside for him. Somehow it ended up with a donut in the cobwebs, but don't ask me how I have no idea! I swear it took me 5 ride throughs before I saw it!

Where is Mr Limpet in Mermaid? I saw him once before they redid the Under the Sea room, but I haven't been able to find him since!

Isn't the donut in the "ghost ship" scene??
Going through the line on Indy there is the pole that (sometimes) causes the ceiling with the spikes to "fall" and then in the circular area before the safety film there is the box with the sign that says not to touch the rope.....you pull the rope and it makes noises or talks! .......(too obvious??)

Last time we rode Indy, a cast member saw us trying to find it and was kind enough to shine his flashlight right at it. So fun!

Alligator and shooting star?? Haven't noticed these. Will have to be on the look out for these when we are there in a couple of weeks.

I don't have a picture, unfortunately my iPhone doesn't take good low-light pictures. But if you look closely at this video around the 4:27 or 4:28 mark you'll see it below the 'Crow's Nest'. This is an 'ultra low light' video, it's not as obvious in the 'usual light'.

Shooting star; look to your right at the sky directly above the 'edge' of the Blue Bayou Restaurant. It shoots from right to left.

Alligator; it's stationary in the water in the bayou on the left side between the houseboats and looks like a log.

I don't remember where Mr. Limpet was/is, I just know I've seen him! Maybe someone else knows?

It's very subtle but, the wandering light on the Haunted Mansion. At night if you stand on the French Market side of the Haunted Mansion, look up at the windows of the attic. There is a candle light that will appear in one window then wander through a couple of other windows before disappearing.

Haunted Mansion's clock with the 13 is actually a monster face with eyes and teeth. Hard to see in the dark sometimes.

The same face of a ghost appears throughout the ride in pictures, one of the hitchikers, and also the hat box ghost. It's fun to look for those, especially when the ride stops or slows.

On Indy, if it says "don't pull", you should! It wasn't working for a while but it was today.

I remember this from years ago and wasn't sure the light was still there. I've looked for it but I think my 'timing' must be off. I'll look harder (and be more patient) next time!

Here are some good ones that no one has mentioned yet.

Star Tours:
- Buzz lightyear in the luggage x-ray machine
- Jar Jar Binks frozen in carbonite being transported in the shadow window

Astro Blasters:
- Hidden target on Zurgs chest

Indiana Jones:
- Skeleton with Mickey ears
- Looking backwards to watch the room move at the giant boulder scene

Tarzan's Treehouse:
- Ms. Potts and Chip

Soarin:
- IMO the best hidden mickey with the hot air balloons

Midway Mania:
- All the secret targets you can reveal by hitting certain targets
