Things to order from private dining

My fiance and I have booked the Grand 1 in order to announce our engagement to our parents in August. I have never done anything like this but they said we can order the menus custom from private dining or request something from a favorite restaurant as well.

Has anyone ever ordered a whole meal from private dining? How was it ? Would I be better off trying to order items from other restaurants? If so what do you suggest? I really want to make this a special evening. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I haven't ordered complete meals from private dining, however I did order a variety of deserts for myself, my partner and a group of friends when we were having a special celebration. On that note, no matter what you request, you have to make sure you get the chocolate covered strawberries. They are amazing! And get a couple more than you think you might need/want since you'll want even more when you taste them!

Thanks for the advice on the strawberries. My family is staying at the GF over the 4th of July and I wanted to order some specialty desserts so we could watch the fireworks from our balcony and enjoy something incredible for my sons 5th birthday. Last year we did the Cinderella slippers and dog bones this year I think we'll do the castle mini-cakes and the Mickey with the strawberries. I'll be sure to order some extra strawberries for DH and myself!

Forgive me for this clueless question, but what exactly is private dining?

I forgot to mention that when I ordered the strawberries and deserts, I called the main Disney number (407-WDISNEY) and asked to be connected to dining which they gladly did. When I spoke to a "dining rep," she went on and on about the different options I had as far as food and I do recall that she was willing to read off the info about specific meals, dinners and other options.

Thanks again - nobody does desserts like Disney! I'll try that and see if there is anything else we can add. I'd like to do an assortment of different desserts. The GF bakery said they couldn't do the new "CRT" slipper dessert so I had to make a PS at CRT for dinner just to sample it.

My DH and I did private dining 2 times on our honeymoon at the GF. The food was fabulous! One night we had lobster stuffed with crabmeat and another night we had T-bone steaks....delic!

The private dining includes room service etc usually. It is available we were told on the boat cruises and other events.

Thanks for the advice on the dewsserts as we all know that's usually the mostfun part of the meal and I think it will make it very romantic!
