Things to do that are less well known?

I enjoy reading these boards and searching google for disneyland ideas to add to our trip planning. We've got all the big stuff (must do rides, places to eat, how to see the fireworks or world of color, etc.)

But I was wondering if anyone has compiled a list of some of the lesser known things to do in each park? Google searches just return more or less the same results.

For instance, I completely forgot about the silhouette shop, which I remember from when I was a kid and is a must-do.

Anyone know a good listing?

We love the museum where you can read about the History of the park.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is awesome, especially on a hot afternoon, it gives you a great chance to cool down and recharge.

When we go, we are there with a 4 or 5 day hopper.

We like to focus on the rides through the week when there are less people. On the weekends we will catch a few of the things listed above. Kind of the same thing if we arrive on a Sunday.

There are many things to see right there on Main street, if you take the time to browse around.

Ride the vehicles on Main Street! That's not so much not well known, but certainly not greatly utilized.

You can also ask to ride in the Wheelhouse on the Mark Twain, or do a tender ride on the Disneyland Railroad. Also you can ask to ride the Lily Belle, but do that first thing.

There's also two new interactive games.
One in Adventureland: http://wdwnt.com/blog/2014/07/exclusive-full-details-on-adventure-trading-company-including-a-first-look-at-the-juju-debuting-at-disneyland-august-1st/

The Lighting Ceremony in CarsLand. Starts right after sunset. Be in the intersection by Flo's. Life is but a dream.

Are you talking about Blue Sky Cellar or One Man's Dream in Walt Disney World? Or am I missing something...which may very well be the case.

I have a couple of great articles that I bookmarked that are about just this very thing

The first is "Fun things to do at the Disneyland Resort":
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneyland/tips.htm

It includes some great things that folks wouldnt necessarily think of. We try and at least knock a few off that list on every trip.

The second is "13 Things You Never Knew You Could Do At Disneyland"

I knew some of them but some I did not know about:

Though I should add, I have heard reports that they don't do the "Death Certificate" anymore.

Wow Pam, Thank you! :thumbsup2 Great resources!

You can go inside the Sailing Ship Columbia... I had no idea!

Oh, they retire the flag on mainstreet every day after 5 or something? Ask a castmember. It's a cool ceremony. They ask anyone who has served in the armed forces to step forward to be honored. So great if you can catch it while parkhopping.

When it's dark, check out the path at Pixie Hollow after the meet and greet is over. If the walkway is open, you can take a break from the crowds and enjoy the beautiful twinkly lights and decorations in the pixie village and lagoon. The path is right next to the trail off of Astro Orbiters.
