We just made our first reservations for late February. I'm wondering ... where do we find out about non-park activities? I've read about pirate cruises, camp fires ... etc. Does DVC send info? What do you recommend for DS2 and DS12? Are ressies needed for dinners and character breakfasts? So many questions! Can't wait to go.

Thanks!

Diana

At check-in you will receive a list of the activities at your resort. Other activities are available at WDW and will be available thru guest services at the resort. There is also a TV channel devoted to activities available at WDW.

You can also get a good idea of activities at other resorts on the Resorts Board here at DIS.

PS reservations for character meals are usually advised. Depending on when you will be there and where you wish to dine, PS may be needed. You can also get dining information on the Restaurants Board here.

Enjoy!

On our December trip our DS 11 went on the fishing trip they offer from some of the resorts. He loved it!! He bragged that he caught about 12 fish one of them being a 4.8pound bass.
Keep in mind he has been fishing once or twice but it isn't as if we are big fishermen or anything.

Also, where are you staying? The differeent resorts all offer different things to do.

We always take the kids to either Fantasia Gardens and/or Wintersummerland miniture golf courses. It is a break from the parks the whole family can enjoy.

The 2 yr old might enjoy the petting zoo at the campgrounds and there are pony rides also. It's just a quick boat ride across the lake. You might try signing up for flag family the 12 yr old MIGHT enjoy that, if your interested just at the front desk when you check in. Anice dinner at AKL is great, food is good and then check out the resort. We always rent the watermice and surrey bikes, both of which are available at the WL.

VWL is a great place to stay in terms of alternate activities. I did that in September. You can bike or hike over to Fort Wilderness, there is the petting zoo and also the horse barn. It's worth the boat ride over there just to pick up the activity list for FW at the window where you'd get your tickets for Hoop De Doo. FW has its own items for rent for getting around the campgrounds. You can zip over to the Grand Floridian & see what's going on over there. I enjoyed having tea there & listening to the live music.

Then, of course, there is pool hopping. Consider hitting Stormalong Bay since it won't be a crowded time of year. Disney also has non-park special events going on year round. Unfortunately they haven't put them up on the website.

You also may be there in time for spring training...this is one of those things that would show up under special events.

Thanks for all the tips. I think we will find them useful on our trip this week!

We love to play mini-golf so we often head over to Winterland/Summerland. And sometimes we rent a boat and cruise around on the WDW waterways.

We also enjoy the resort tour. Jump on the monorail and see the sights...although maybe not to exciting for little ones?

Enjoy your trip.
