Just curious my DH and I have looked at the excursions on the Western Cruise and they all sound wonderful. We have 2 kids age 10 and 8. We want to do 2 or 3 .....what would be your top pick and why?

Thanks
Kristin

take a taxi to Chankanaab National Park....great snorkeling, lots of fun...

alexandrew, since you did the park on your own, what kind of costs were involved. Did you do the dolphin swim? How much did it cost? I would appreciate any info about the park that you might have. We are a family of 5, so it seems like all the excursions are going to be a major expense.

$10.00 taxi fare....$10.00 per person entrance to park.....Also, nominal cost to rent snorkle gear....there are some restaurants and bars there as well that serve good stuff.....

Again, I highly recommend Chankanaab...

Our DF booked the jungle jeep tour through www.aventurasnaturalcozumel.com for the stay in Cozumel. We heard good things about this tour from other westren cruisers here on the DIS boards. We did a jeep tour in Sedona a couple of years ago and DD & DS had a blast. In the grand caymen we are going on the Nautilus undersea & snorkel tour. We really wanted the undersea sub but it is not available now. Oh well, don't think I want to go on a sub if it is not working right. Want to use my ROUND TRIP ticket on that one if you know what I mean! :scared1: We leave in about a month I'll definitely post when we return.

I just got back from the 3/12 - 3/19/05 Western and the best thing we did was go to Stingray City in the Caymans. It was awesome as was the snorkling on 7 mile beach in the Caymans.

Chakanaab in Cozumel was worth it also. It was clean, lots to do and good snorkling.

We pretty much stayed on the boat in Key West (been there done that).

In Castaway Cay - snorkling is fun as is swimming and hanging out. No excursion needed.

We were on the Western Magic last month. The #1 excursion for us (myself, 16 yo dd, 14 yo ds, and 8 yo ds) was Stingray City. It was awesome experience with the stingrays, one that my kids and I will remember for a long time. We had a ball. My daughter and I did the dolphin encounter in Cozumel and we really enjoyed it also. She loves dolphins. I thought she might be disappointed in not swimming with them, but the encounter was just perfect for us. It was a great day and the park was nice. My kids and I walked to the southernmost point of the United States at Key West. It was a long, hot walk!!!!!!!! We got a cab back to port.
