I have got myself a bit of a planner now for our Orlando holiday. The way I have worked things out is that all of our 3 Sundays in the holiday are technically "chill days".

What are Sundays like for the malls and supermarkets etc. Do they open full hours or shorter etc.

Also I have read that we should have cameras and mobiles in our hand luggage for the flight as we may be asked to show them working, is this correct?

Yes, you will have to show electrical equipment works.
Sundays for me are sacrosanct :-)
Sit in a bar watching the NFL
Malls are all open, but do not open until 10am

I am yet to pluck up the courage to tell Sarah I want to catch the Raiders on TV whilst we are out there.

I know this may sound a dumb question, but why do you need to show that electrical equipment works when you go through customs?

Is it to stop insurance scams? :tilt:

It is safer to have your valuables in your hand luggage in any case, I wouldn't risk leaving them in the hold luggage.

We didn't have to show them working either going or coming back (Newcastle to Sanford). We did have to put the camcorder in a separate basket in Sanford coming back.

Chill days in Orlando what are they? :) We don't stop till we come home. I would imagine Sundays will be busy in the Malls/Supermarkets, etc because alot of the locals are off too.

I believe you have to be able to prove that electronic equipment works as there have been cases of people wiring bombs into laptops and other things as the wiring blends in. As Wicket says, it's probably safer to have that stuff on you anyway, especially if you have seen the way some baggage handlers throw suitcases around!

We use Sundays to drive around looking at places and this year we might use it to drive out to Tampa beach. Otherwise we'll just chill at the hotel, maybe play some mini golf or hit a mall.

We always hit MK on one of the Sundays cos we find this the quietest day at MK. However, the thought of watching the NFL in a bar all day after a good breakfast........need to build that into the planner for the next trip.

Would have to be the Broncos of course - could do with unearthing another John Elway before then.

Ive never noticed any differing opening hours for the stores on Sunday, except for Chick-Fil-A, which has a store policy of closing on Sundays.

You should go with the NFL though, I really enjoy watching the games on the multiple tv feeds in the likes of Bennigans or TGI's, or even Hooters.

For those unlucky enough to be stuck in the UK, here is Skys schedule :

Thur Sept 8 Oakland Raiders @ New England Patriots SS1 02.00 (Fri)

Sun Sept 11 Denver Broncos @ Miami Dolphins
Arizona Cardinals @ NY Giants SSX 18.00

Sun Sept 18 Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts
Atlanta Falcons @Seattle Seahawks SSX 18.00

Sun Sept 25 Oakland Raiders @ Philadelphia Eagles
New England @ Pittsburgh SSX 18.00

Sun Oct 2 Houston Texans @ Cincinnati Bengals
NY Jets @ Baltimore SSX 18.00

NASN are showing the pre season games either live and/or recorded at this moment. Its great to have them back, sitting there watching American foorblaa, with some bottles of Rolling Rock, knowing that as the season is almost upon us, so is our Vacation! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

GO COWBOYS!!!!!

Hi
My sister just came back from Florida and said she had the most gorgeous breakfast at Celebration on a Sunday - infact it may have even been a brunch. She said they were great there with the kids too. Jo x

If you are planning to go to the Florida Mall on a Sunday take account of the fact that it does not open until either 12 or 12.30 - we got caught out by this last year - made the way all the way there for about 11 ish to find none of the shops open. Not sure of the exact time but I'm sure that you could check it out on the net. Happy shopping!!!

The Florida Mall shuts earlier - 6 I think on a Sunday, also is full of hoards of teenagers (same as Saturday) so depends on what you want to do!

We often visit the POM (Premium Outlet Mall) in the evenings of a lazy day as they are open until 10.

I took a ton of electrical equipment with me and wasn't asked once to turn anything on. Having said that, I've never been asked to turn any electrical equipment on when travelling to the States.

I don't think you'll have any problems,
Andy

I've never been asked either to prove my electrical stuff (camcorders, digi camera etc) has worked but I have had clients who have been asked this so its probably safest to not pack anything like that too far away from you, as someone else mentioned it WILL get thrown about!

Sorry, meant to say that I took all the equipment in my hand luggage.

Andy

if planing on shopping dont forget that they only sell beer from 11 till 3 on a sunday

You find that in the land of WDW Sundays aren't much different from any other day! I would avoid any of the waterparks over the weekend in general,as this is when all the locals & weekenders go. We normally have a chill out day, catch a movie, down town Disney.....
As for NFL-american football- the only night that there isn't a game of some sort on is Tuesday! College ball is on most of the nights that the NFL isn't

Go Lions !!!!!!! SD :paw:

I must admit when staying in WDW I completely forget what day it is LOL - the days feel the same to me :)
