I am trying to convince my husband that we do not need to visit the parks every day we will be at Disney this coming August. We're staying 5 nights at BCV and 2 at CBR. I KNOW my kids will love SAB (they are big swimmers) and I have heard there are lots of things to do at the BW, also. I say since we're staying at a Deluxe resort, we should take time to enjoy it and not rush around at the parks every day. I want to just get 4 day hoppers (we don't plan on doing AK this time) and spend 3 days enjoying the resort. (Our kids will be 3, 6, and 13) Can someone else reassure me that I'm right and he's wrong!!

Are you DVC members?

We are, we go every year or so and do exactly what you want to do, we go to the parks every other day. On the in between days we hang out at the resort, walk at the boardwalk or visit one of the other pools (like BW or W
LV pool). The kids love the pool and hanging out at the resort just as much as the parks.

And since, as DVC members, we go every year or so, we don't need to go to every park every trip.

On the park days we go early, before opening, get to all attractions, come back to the resort mid day for a nap or hang out for a few hours, then hit that park or a different park that night.

You are right! And you save money by eating in the DVC room and utilizing the kitchen.

Things to do outside the parks and near BC
SAB pool
Fantasia Gardens miniture golf
Espn sports bar (great for lunch or munchies)
Surrey bikes (always good for a laugh )
Get an ice cream sundae at beaches and cream
or just watch the boardwalk entertainment

and of course you can always go to downtown disney
do a bit (or a lot) of shopping
Disneyquest (separate admission)
AMC cinema

We're going in june to BCV and at this time don't plan to go to any parks. This will be with DD7, DS6, DD4, and 8 month pregnant DW(ressies were made before the rabbit died;) I hope you're staying at BCV last, our trip to CBR last year is what convinced DW to join DVC...

We're going this June for 8 days and I also plan on getting 4 day park hoppers. We're also doing US/IOA. We usually go to the parks early, and we're probably not going to AK this year either. I think your plan will be fine (I hope so, 'cause it sounds alot like what we're doing). Good luck!

I recommend 5 day park hoppers instead of 4. If you don't use the extra day, they are still good for your next trip. The additional day seems more cost effective in the long run.

There's volleyball.
Beach club beach.
DisneyQuest.
Bike and Boat Plan
Visit other resorts to see waterparade

I agree about getting the 5 days as a better deal, but my husband will INSIST on using them all this year. He cannot fathom planning a future vacation - meaning he won't save the days on the passes. I'm lucky he even listens to me now while I'm planning our Aug 03 vacation. If it were up to him, he'd decide two days beforehand where we're going! I tried to talk to him about getting AP's and going back next year in July but he won't have anything to do with it (planning that far in advance!) I think I'll stick with 4 day passes and hope the kids beg to stay at the resort for a few days!

Thanks for all the advice!!

There is nothing wrong with not going to the parks everyday. We plan on only spending 2 days in the parks of our 6 day stay. THis allows us to be more relaxed, see more of the resorts and maybe squeeze in a water park. Then I don't feel like I need a vacation from my vacation because we have tried to do to much!

It's a wonderful resort all on its own. The bonus is that there's an amazing theme park minutes away if you want it.

We were at ASMu and BCV a total of 6 nights and days. We got 4-day hoppers for the six of us as a way of shaving off some of the expense of our vacation. We did have plenty to do with the pool, boating, and resort hopping. HOWEVER, I wish we had sucked it up and paid for the 5 day hoppers. Because of shorter hours, we just didn't see all we wanted and another day in the parks would have made us feel like we accomplished more. With a 3 and 6 year old among your group you're pace in the heat of August will probably slow up a bit. Ours were 4, 6 and 8 and taking time out of our day to go back to the villa for a little quiet time really made the difference in attitude, so that 5th day would have made a difference for us.

If you plan to return soon or often, thay may not be an issue for you. Rest assured that there are plenty of other activities to occupy your "off" days.
