Hi,

What did you guys bring with you to DisneyLand Paris? ie food, snacks, disney dressing up costume etc. I suppose really to help keep the cost down.

Thanks

Seconded! Snacks if you've got young ones and drinks such as squash!

and a whole lot of patience! Some guests DONOT stand in line and will push and shove big time...Oh and also they will smoke in line as well!! Other then that all the above:)

Bottles of squash and drinks bottles are a must for us - we must have saved a fortune using them - didn't have to buy a single drink in the parks any day. Robinsons do a concentrated squash now, so it takes less room in the suitcase.

We packed kagouls this trip, instead of jackets - took up less room - and we needed them for one day when there was a thunderstorm (over by lunchtime fortunately).

And from past experience with the wife, decent trainers and blister plasters! :rotfl:

we also take any light up wands etc spinner things (car boots ) for the night time parade

Paracetamol or other headache tablets as they arent sold in supermarkets/shops in france in the same way as in England - they can only be bought from chemists

a chunky pen for the characters to sign autographs,

camera and charger and extra memory cards if needed - you will take loads of photos

plug adapters if you want to charge cameras/phones etc in the room

travel kettle/teabags/milk portions/mug and teaspoon

Thanks so much for all your ideas and suggestions, they are great. We are flying over and have only got hand luggage so won't be able to bring drinks with us. I am going to get a private transfer from the airport to the hotel (Santa Fe).
Do you think the driver would stop at a garage/shop so that I could get a bottle of squash?!
Also, is the water in the hotel rooms safe to drink?

You can hire a kettle for a returnable deposit of €30 from the Santa Fe or you might get lucky and find one in the room anyway. If you can take mugs though do as they won't be provided unless you buy the hotel package which is rather expensive for a few teabags, coffee and mugs.

The garage is right next to the Santa Fe so an easy short walk and has a handy shop with various items for snacks and drinks.

There is a garage right next to the Santa Fe hotel where you can buy supplies cheaper than in the parks and also one in the train station near the park entrances.
However they dont sell squash in France the same as here - they have what they call sirop which comes in all kinds of different flavours and can be mixed with lemonade or water but its not the same (its much sweeter)

There's a shop at the petrol station just near the Santa Fe (you can walk to it from the hotel) and there's another shop (Casino) at the RER station just infront of the park entrance.

The French don't drink squash like you get in England , you can get syrups like cordials that can be diluted or drinks like Oasis which is a water based fruit drink but it's already mixed

The tap water is drinkable but you might not like the taste as water varies from region to region, country to country. I know when I go to England I drink filtered water in certain areas as they are too many minerals in it for me :)

Have to say the water in the park is more than okay - never had any problems with it - both outlets would I'm sure sell bottled water....not sure if this would apply but it might be worth not leaving your mugs on show just in case the cleaners remove them...had that happen with glasses before!

This or another thread with just a list should be made sticky!

A list, that could be edited by mod or whoever, would be great with brief reasons for taking anything that's not obvious. Not just for newbies but I sure all of us who've been have stuff we always take that might not have occured to others. What wouldn't you go without?

Mine would be don't forget the kids, even if they do slow down the quest to get on everything!! :rotfl2:

just wanted to give anybody going 25th - 28th Aug a heads up - you wont need rain poncho's during that time, because for once i have been super organised and just ordered mine on on-line so i don't end up paying a fortune for them in the parks which will mean we wont get any rain :rotfl2:

Seriously now: - we always take squash as our sons dont really enjoy fizzy drinks, and it saves a fortune. We also take snacks as towards the end of our stay we end up being stuffed with food so sometimes drop lunch and just have a big breakfast and early dinner supplemented with snacks.

i dont like the taste of the tap water so we always go to a supermarket and stock up on bottles of water for DH to carry around for me in the rucksack :rotfl:

We also take a 4 plug extension lead which means we can charge camera's, ds & phones all at once instead of individually.

i hope you have a fantastic time

A pen and notebook to:thumbsup2 keep track of everything for the TR

Good suggestion - I was seriously worried about leaving my rechargable battery charger plugged in because with the travel adaptor, and also the charger, the weight of it all was dragging the plug out of the socket!

I also needed to charge up 2 mobile phones, one DS and a 3DS too.

Just remembered some more items:

Sunglasses (I have really sensitive eyes, and struggle with bright sunlight and light surfaces like concrete - WDS is a real problem for me without them!).

Small rucksack (for carrying things around the park). We also have a tiny folable rucksack which we carry inside the rucksack, just in case we buy a load of cra--- I mean essential toys/bits and pieces etc. whilst walking round the parks.

Sturdy cardboard tube - sounds stupid, but we often find ourselves on holiday needing to protect paper items that can't lie flat in our luggage. Last time at WDW we did a couple of drawings in WDS which we put into a cardboard tube to protect them. This trip, we got a caricature done at Chessington before we went to DLP, but didn't have a tube to protect it this time, and wished we had - found out that toilet roll inards can suffice if pushed (although god knows what the housekeeping thought we were doing with all the toilet roll we were using!).

Lunch bags/lunch box - when making up you lunch at brekkie.

Reusable Drink bottles - fill them up in the morning to save on buying drinks through out the day.

Handwipes/gel.

as mentioned before - plasters/painkillers/ and calpol if travelling with children.

a spare rucksack to take home all the extra luggage you will end up with. not only what you buy but you get souviniers from all the restaurants etc that the kids cant bear the thought of leaving behind.

Very comfy shoes! You will spend a lot of time on your feet - never miss a chance to sit down! I definately pack for Disney with comfort in mind, not fashion! On the same lines I have taken some radox or similar for soaking in the bath!
a set of cheap plastic cups that stack (you can always bin them if you are struggling on space coming home), and you can use them in the hotel for the large bottles of pop or water you can get from the Esso garage. I'd also stick in one set of disposable cutlery - we've ended up some nights getting snacks from the garage as we were too knackered to want to spend a lot of money on a meal we wouldn't enjoy, so have shared sandwiches, pot noodle things etc.

Apart from that, as others have said, a lot of patience and your sense of humour! Pace yourself as the temptation is to try and do it all at once, which is exhausting and will be disappointing.

Have a great time!
