We are going to wdw in november through maw and my son is learning to use a communication device. I was wondering if y'all could help me come up with a couple more phrases so we can start working on them at home so he's use to them by the time go. I have My Name is Jonah and may i have your autograph what else should we do. We are going to mvmcp and we have an adr at crystal palace. Any thing that would help him have better interaction with the characters.

Hi there! Your question reminded me of another thread floating around somewhere with ideas of things to do or say to characters. These might not all be exactly what you're looking for but maybe it will give you some ideas :) And don't be afraid to do or say these things yourself, they love it when parents join in the fun! These are things people have done to get a reaction out of the fur characters or get the face characters talking. The one I thought would be really cute for your son at Crystal Palace would be to tell Pooh - "Where's the hunny? I have a rumbly in my tumbly." :goodvibes

Minnie & Mickey:
Ask Minnie if Mickey got her a wedding ring yet.
Minnie loves it when you wear a shirt with her on it! (So does Mickey :D )
Wear a Minnie Mouse costume or shirt to Chef Mickey's (or bring a Minnie Mouse doll).
Ask Minnie how many dresses she has. Try to ask her in front of Mickey, or when a CM is around.
Tell Minnie she's the real princess.

Chip & Dale:
Ask Chip and Dale if they are squirrels (or gophers)
Call Chip...Dale and Dale...Chip....
Call Chip or Dale Alvin or Theodore
Ask Chip and Dale how to tell them apart.
Tell Chip and Dale you have nuts in your backpack.

Donald, Goofy, Pluto:
Ask Donald Duck where Mickey Mouse is.
Call Donald "Daffy" or wear a Daffy shirt around him.
If you have the talent, speak to Donald Duck in a duck's voice.
Wear your Pal Mickey or a Mickey shirt/hat around Donald
Call Goofy or Pluto "Snoopy"
Give dog biscuits/treats to Pluto
Scratch Pluto behind the ear
Tell Pluto he's a good dog.

Peter Pan, Wendy & Captain Hook:
Tell Captain Hook....TICK TOCK!!
Crow at Peter Pan.
Ask Peter Pan where he's from in front of Wendy.
Tell Hook he's a codfish.
Have a stuffed croc around Hook.
Where a kelly green shirt around Wendy.
Have on pirate paraphernalia around Peter Pan lol.

Cruella:
When you see Cruella.... BARK!!!!
Cruella gave extra negative attention in response to a hat that had a Disney feline on it! She also notices jewels!
Curella LOVES compliments!
Wear stripes around her.

Princesses:
The gist I've gotten is, they all LOVE to talk and have background stories, and they don't need much prompting.
Princesses oohh and awe over jewelry and clothing with images of them on it.
Ask Pocahontas how she says Hello.
Bow to a princess, and call them your highness ... they love that.
Speak French to Belle.
Ask Belle what her favorite book is.
Ask Snow White how the Dwarves are doing.
Ask Mulan if she's found her true love. When says no, tell her you'll put in a good word with the matchmaker.
Princesses LOVE little boys!
They also love hand drawn/colored pictures and CAN accept them!

Pooh & Friends:
Ask Eeyore if he's lost his tail.
To Pooh: "Where's the hunny? I have a rumbly in my tumbly"
Ask Tigger for bouncing lessons.

Alice & Wonderland cast:
Ask the Mad Hatter for his "autograph". He may draw a picture of a car and a graph.
Tell the Mad Hatter it's your Unbirthday.
Ask the white rabbit for the time.
Mention that you have a cat to Alice.

Dwarves:
Call one of the 7 Dwarfs by the wrong name, very funny, especially if all 7 are present.
Ask Dopey what 1 + 1 is.

Mary Poppins:
Say "Supercalafragilisticexpealidocious" to Mary Poppins.
Ask her to say it backwards.
Ask her how your kids "Measure Up!"

Toy Story:
To Buzz: Point behind him and yell "It's Zurg!!! Oh No!!!"
To Buzz: Ask him exactly where "Beyond" is.
To Woody: "There's a snake in your boot!!!"
To Woody: "Somebody's poisoned the water hole!!!"

General or other:

Give the villains a hug.
Wear a Universal shirt.
Have a stuffed Simba when you see Rafiki.
Offer Stitch a cookie.
Wear something with Stitch on it that he can take, like a backpack.
Stitch and Meeko are known to rummage through purses and backpacks for "food."
Ask Meeko if he is a badger.
Try calling Mushu a lizard.
Prince John - Tell him he's the rightful king, and he'll agree!
Sing Bear/Bare Necessities to Baloo.
Salute the green army man in MGM.
Wait in line to see Capt Jack, but when you get to the front act like you were in line to see Davy Jones.
After a picture op, tell a fur character they blinked or their eyes were closed lol.

My son got some great reactions last year when he said Meow in a very loud voice to Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Chip and Dale. He pretended he was a hunter with a bow and arrow around a few of them too, and Rafiki was WONDERFUL at playing with him when he pretended he was a monster... some of the greatest pics of our trip!

Have a magical time!

I used to be a performer, and I will say that calling characters by the wrong name is very annoying to them. Most people honestly don't know who's who, and there's no way to tell if they are joking. The same about not knowing what kind of animal they are. If you are going to do that, make it clear you are joking. The only exception would be calling Mushu a lizard since that is straight out of the movie.

For me especially, I hated it when people called Meeko a squirrel (most of the time they were serious). I just couldn't imagine waiting in line for a character if you didn't even know what kind of animal they were, much less what movie they were from.

I do love all the questions for Minnie, especially about the ring. Ask her about her shoe collection. Let's just say that Minnie has quite a lot of shoes! Ask Mickey if he got Minnie a ring, and then ask him why not. You normally get some excellent responses from that.

With the Chipmunks and Meeko, food is always a good topic of conversation. Meeko especially likes biscuits! Ask Meeko about Ratcliffe or John Smith or Pocahontas.

Definitely bring up Tick Tock with Captain Hook, that always gets good results.

With the princesses, anything that is "gallant" would go over well. Don't be surprised if you son ends up with lipstick on his face!

Stitch is a fun way, but please don't forget about Lilo. Poor Lilo gets very sad when people ask her to stand out of the way so they can get their pictures with Stitch. Ask Lilo how catching the experiments is going, or where Stitch's badness level is! Ask Lilo to demonstrate a hula for you. With stitch, see if you can record the bad phrase that he says in the movie. Phonetically it's something like: Mee-gah-nall-o-quee-sta. (I think). Anything to do with surfing is also good topics of conversation for those two.

For Pooh Bear, honey is a given. You can ask him if he ever reached the honey tree. Ask Tigger if he succeeded in bouncing out of the ride and tell him to go back. (Whenever Pooh broke down I would tell the guests that Tigger succeeded in bouncing out of the ride and if they saw him to tell him to come back.) Piglet's tougher. With Piglet, stay away from the are you a boy or a girl question. And please, for the love of Mickey, do not tell him that you are eating pork. You have no idea how old that gets in CP. (Why they feel the need to serve pork in a restaurant with Piglet is beyond me). Try watching the Piglet movie. You could probably use that for some fun interaction with him. It's been awhile since I've seen it so I can't come up with anything off the top of my head.

In the end, the best interactions are the ones that let them know you recognize them. Anything themed to their specific movie is great! They appreciate it when the guests play with them, they love it even more when it is obvious that the guests know who they are and are making an effort to stay in theme.

Awww sorry, well I didn't write the list, just compiled it from another thread :) 27 pages and nobody ever mentioned that lol. Here is the thread if you want to check it out, the stories are pretty funny. Of course you've probably experienced most of them in person

And don't forget you can always ask Donald how his anger management therapy is going.

Donald does havea bit of an attitude problem, doesn't he? ;)

He was always one of my favorites to work with because he has such a...um...colorful personality.

Eeyores Butterfly, thank you for the suggestions and info of what to do and what not to do with the characters. We don't want to annoy the characters.

meowmarie, thank you for the thread

Cheshire figment, i'll have to remember that for donald, he and goofy are the ones right now that he gets excited over when we mention their names. He loves to watch pooh and the gang in the morning.

If you are going to Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot, have a question ready for Crush. You may well be called on to ask him a question during the Q&A period. Here are some ideas.

Have you been all over the Ocean?

Where were you hatched?

Do you ever come out of your shell?

Bill
