Things that you wouldn't think of getting at the dollar store

our dollar store also had very small air pumps next to the blow-up toys. Very useful for those of us packing our own swim rings, etc.!

Other $ store buys:

**small key chain type flashlights for the little ones to use in dark rides and for me to use when I drop something in a dark theatre.

**cling type window shades for the car ride -- someone is always stuckj riding on the sunny side of the car.

My local Dollar Tree has cute mini travel checkers of Pooh or Lion King (VERY tiny pieces so not for under 3's) they also have small plastic figurines of Pooh and friends that will make a nice "tinkerbell gift".
They also have a whole line of Disney workbooks, large variety of coloring books (do you have little boys that love Orange County Choppers? They have a sticker book of it!) and sets of 3 card games in one pkg (old maid/matching/crazy eights or abc /matching/word puzzle etc..).

Not specific for travel but thought they were cute.. plastic bibs with pocket in candy themes.. Sugar Daddies, blow pop, junior mints.

They had the lap tables that are cushy on the bottom where it sits on your lap,but a flat hard table surface on the top. I has the corner and middle straps so that the kiddies can put their coloring books on it to color and it will hold the pages down for them. It also has side pockets to hold their crayons. My little sister had to have one to use on the drive down.

I am in Long Island.... where are there any Dolar tree stores? We have ind. owned 99 cent stores and they don't have nearly as good stuff as you are mentioning!!!!!

GLO Stick Warning - I have had very bad luck with the Glo Sticks/necklaces/etc. from Dollar Tree. Most of them do not work! I have actually had one out of six work before, but for some reason I just keep buying them. I just buy LOTS of them knowing that over half won't work and we need extras so the kids won't be disappointed. So, if you're only buying one package and expecting them to work, you may want to consider getting more! ::yes::

Me, too...I'm in AR!
Too cool to find another DIS fan locally...

I'm down south (Arkansas)...we have several...Dollar Emporium, Dollar Discount and my fav, Dollar Tree.

You may have to wait til you get down a bit closer to MickeyTown...maybe some others closer to you can reply.

Great thread!!!!

Thanks from a newbie who is all too excited for our first family trip and loves to plan ahead. :D

The day I bought 2 twin pkg of suction cup hooks at Wal-mart for $1.97 each, I found a six pkg at the $ tree. The weight limit is 2lbs for the small ones, but how much can a wet bathing suit weigh? :confused3

Lovebond and Octoberbeauty, I'm an Arkansas gal too!
You can get pretty good sunscreen at Dollar Tree down here. They had some of the Coppertone colored foam for kids. They also have some really good after sun lotion.

Whenever I have to bake for a bake sale or cake walk, or even if I am taking a cake to friend in need, I buy a plate from the Dollar Store. They have some pottery types that are actually kind of pretty! That way no one needs to worry about returning the plate and they get something pretty to keep or pass on when they help someone out the next time. :)

I'm in Rockville Centre, Long Island NY. Where the heck is a "Dollar Tree" around here???!!!
Thanks!

Just another bit of info, these are great to keep up with mittens, gloves, boggans, earmuffs, etc during the summer months so come the winter you will know where they are........I know that has nothing to do with disney trips, but just thought I'd share :)

That is the most fabulous idea I have heard in a long time!! All that junk drives me nuts and with three kids I have plenty. With an entry area that seems to shrink every winter, you can bet next year I will be doing this!!

Be careful of the sunscreens, all the ones I saw were way past their expiration dates and found out first hand why sunblock has expiration dates!!!!

This is a great thread although I have already stocked up on all my stuff most of it that was listd here (sorry no comet :rotfl2: ) I was grabbing everything Disney! I would stay away from the glowsticks. Not only do they not work very well but they break very easy and STAIN the clothes. :earseek:
