Hi,
Here's a bit of fun common errors:

Instamatic Camera: It's not an "instant" camera you still have to get the film processed.

"I have a great picture as my screensaver": No the picture is your backgound not your screensaver.

Direct Flight: Not the same as a non-stop flight, direct flights can call at several airports as long as you don't actually change plane it's direct.

Kissimmee: Not pronouced Kissy me but Ki sim e

Anyone got anymore?

Mick.

:cool2:

Yeah, people who spell Loose instead of Lose

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Thats me I did it on a post recently and didnt realise, when I did some one had already quoted me so I couldnt really edit it. Now have I got that right or is the spelling the other way round and maybe I was right in the first place :confused3

The one that gets me is the phrase 'so I turns round and says' describing a witty retort or reply.

Common amongst speakers of estuarine english I am surprised that I never see people spinning in the streets whilst having conversations.

Also common amongst certains groups....ask pronounced as arks.

Irregardless, it's not a real word and people use it in the same context as regardless!

my bug bear and there are loads of them :rotfl2: is words like lickle instead of little, and baby words - why???

my surname its Towills (as in bath) but so far this week I have been

Mrs two hills ,trowills, towliss :lmao:

Oh please don't get me started on this........................

If you must, my top four

1) "Gotten" :scared1:

2) "Off of"

3) People who use where/were and there/their incorrectly. :headache:

4) Using writ instead of wrote:mad:

Trust me, there are many more. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I hate the word Brit. I'm not sure if it's a correct word or not but I just HATE it.

Another irritation is not pronouncing the letter T. Bo''le for bottle.

One more is using of when it should be have. Should of, could of instead of should have, could have.

I also hate the way that when I've written a reply the errors never appear until I've posted it, no matter how many times I check it.

Also: Momentarily (it means 'for a moment' not soon!) and using lay in place of lie.

Indeed, Why?
Bot bot for bottle
Dinney for dinner
Dum dum for dummy
I could go on and on......but I'd rather not!

"Why did you do that for?" instead of "Why did you do that? "or "What did you do that for?"

I'm guilty of having far too many things I could list here ... but wouldn't it be boring if we were all perfect! :teeth:!

Top of my hit list is, when saying the name for the letter 'H', so many people pronounce it 'haitch' when it should be 'aitch'.
