Things that make you return to Disney

When I was young, I had a bit of a hard upbringing. Without getting to be a Debby Downer here, I will just say that when things got too much for me, I would escape to my Disney VHS tapes and watch Little Mermaid, Cinderella, etc over and over and sing along to the songs. Now that I am grown, I watch these same movies with my daughter and she shares my love of them as well. So when we can actually visit the parks and meet the characters, it takes me back to a few happy memories from my childhood and let’s me escape again from the real world with my family I was blessed with now that I am older.

For me, I think it's a mixture of the familiarity of knowing I'm going somewhere I love, and the excitement of trying the new things I've not done before. One of my bucket list things is staying at least once in every WDW resort, so when we stay at a new place that's something that excites me! The feel of the entire place is just different from anywhere else. We were at Six Flags back in June, and all I kept thinking was how much I missed Disney...it was fun, but its just not the same.
Another reason is, it's the only place my whole family-husband and grown children too-will put down their iphones and daily business and just have fun as a family. We don't do everything together, or even close. Everyone does their own thing, but we have meals together and meet to ride things, and its nice to have family together doing something we all still love.

For me, it is the one passion that I share with my teen-age daughter. We escape to our happy place, away from all the drama of school, work, and extended family and we are totally in sync with each other. As my daughter says "some people just don't 'get' Disney like we do". We play Disney CDs during our 15 hour drive and play Disney trivia, finish the line, or what movie is this line from. Sheer joy.

at the mall here there is one of those areas where they have the rides for little kids. One of them has a train sound that reminds me of walking into the park.

I've never had a "bad trip." Now, there have been a couple of times that individual things have bothered me. These crazy rooms checks first thing in the morning, before I am dressed; the buses at Saratoga Springs could be a hassle; and now this no lid/no straw craziness; those things bother me. But I work it out and go about my happy day.

I check out of life. It is pure escapism. I can sing along to It's a small world, and not think about work or household chores or anything else.

It is wonderful.

(Bed, should have been Bad. Oops.

For DH and I, it's the magical feeling you have while you're there. No worries about the outside world. It's the one place we can go (DLR or WDW) where DH never thinks about work. We get to act like big kids and just have a blast. There's so many options, so many fun things to do, so many choices. We are never bored!

The attitude of the CMs and many of the guests who are there. The guest at the resort will greet you, not walk past looking at the sidewalk. The CM's are smiling. EX: I was at my usual grocery store last week and there was a new young man at the check out stand who was smiling and happy and eager to help! And I thought.... wow! he could work at Disney. Also the attention to detail in all of the parks. The landscaping is wonderful if you stop and look. The fact that you are delivered to where ever you want to go, no deciphering maps to get to the park. And I'm old enough to remember when Cinderella was my favorite Book and we watched The world of Disney on a black and white TV.. LOL. We move slower than we did in 1991, but after 50+ trips we still are thrilled watching family enjoy it too, kids and now grandkids. The kids sparkle!! Oh, and I'm a fireworks junkie. The EPCOT and MK fireworks at NYE and 4th of July will blow your face off!!!!
OK, I don't even know why I pretended not to know why I go. Lemme join your fireworks junkie confession!
