First off I have to say how excited I am that my December 30th and 31st wait list came through. But the way it came through makes you go hmmmm???

I'm on the phone canceling a future reservation when I also ask about the status of my waitlist.... All of a sudden she tells me "ohhhh it just came through""""

What are the chances that I'm on a wait list for 2 months and today while I'm on the phone it just happens to go through at the same time?????

Things that make you go hmmmmmm

I agree. I have been on the waitlist three times and all three came through the day I called to check on them, hmmmm.

I'm glad I read this...I just got off the phone with MS and my wait list came through for Dec 19th!!! Yay I do not have to switch hotels.

I'm glad you all had wait lists come through, no matter the way!

I've never called to enquire about a wait list and been told that it just came through. I've had them come through by getting an e-mail or seeing it on the member site, and of course, I have had wait lists that haven't come through!

Man! I just called and got someone who was clearly very new. All she said was "it is still active and has not matched anything yet". BUMMER!

This has happened to us several times. We were calling to make dining reservations, CM noticed the waitlist, and then told us it had just come through.

Not sure what is going on? Tiger

I think I am going call again and try to book a dining reservation and then just ask them to double check it.

My opinion, is that it is a manual job to take an open room and check and see if there is a waitlist for it.

I believe if you catch a room right after it is cancelled, before they check to see if it is on a waitlist, you just make it happen.

I called on checking avail. once about 5 weeks out (but well over 30 days) for open bedroom for prime, friday night, during f and w and got it at BC. I had called a # of times previously and always booked solid all resorts even SSR, OKW, and AK. I didn't waitlist it. There is not a person on this board to sell me on NOT 1 member was waitlisted 5 weeks out for a frid night at f and w at BC..

I am certain, that it just opened, and had not been put against the waitlists yet.

While I don't advocate calling frequently to check on my waitlist status, I just find it very odd that they only have come through for me when I called. I would be calling to add dining, check availability for another reservation or add a flight to my reservation for DME but I find it very hard to believe the waitlist "just came through" as I called.

They seem to "go off and check". I think they are updating or running another system to check that the automatic system does not use.

I've had the same experience. There are way too many people who call about a wait list only to be told that "it just came through." I think your explanation is the most reasonable. Frankly, when I have a wait list I call frequently.

The common theory on these boards, and which makes sense, is that waitlists are batch processed at night when MS is closed. So if anyone cancels a room during the day, the waitlist program doesn't grab it until that night. Anyone calling during the day to ask about their waitlist can get that room ahead of others who may have been on the waitlist months before them.

There are so many examples of WL coming through during an MS call that it is obviously not coincidence.

To me, it is the single worst aspect of the DVC operations. It is clearly unfair to those who use the waitlist and don't call, but I never blame someone for calling often to check on room availability for their waitlist. It is Disney's issue to fix, not the DVC owners.

Just checked - no dice.

Oh well, in a few weeks I will be at WDW and I can't ask for more than that!:thumbsup2

Oh don't give up. I go with " the girls" every year. We were wait listed for a room at akv for one night during our stay, right in the middle of the week. It was F&W, Jersey Week, the day before Veteran's Day, and the first night the Osbourne Lights were starting. The person who booked it called every day to to the trip, with no luck. We called every morning while we were there and stopped a the front desk every afternoon or evening. On Wed., the day before we were to move for one night and come back, the front desk found us a room. Turned out it was even a savanna room. We had told them we didn't care what was available, we just didn't want to change resorts for one night.

So the end to that story is please call daily even the day before.

You mentioned "Jersey Week". HA HA. I am from Jersey, and I am a teacher. I am considering buying a resale, but I figured I would ask how difficult is it to book 7 months out during "Jersey Week". As I can't take off during the school year, my only vacation times are that Jersey week in November, and over the summer....or Easter (but I'd rather shoot myself first as we have gone that week in the past). So, I wondering if it would even be worth it since these are my only available travel times.
