Agreed I wish they would make the parks completely smoke free.
nevah gonna happen. Don't like it? Don't go near the smoking areas
Why is Disney so reluctant to ban smoking? It makes no sense to me!
It just seems odd to me that a place which is HEAVILY marketed to children, has them come there and be exposed to secondhand smoke.
Don't get me wrong, I don't smoke either, but you can't outright ban smoking at the theme parks. At least 20 percent of the guests smoke, so it would be killing 20% of their business since the parks are full day affair and most people will just take their business to a "smoke friendly" theme park.
They've made smoking sections in the park that are designed to not bother the other guests as much as possible. As for the gentleman on Main Street smoking, you should tell the nearest CM in this situation and they (or a leader) will ask the man to move to a "Designated Smoking Area" or to put it out until he can move to an area at his leisure.
Truthfully, I'd rather deal with holding my breath through a smoking area than deal with extra irritated people who are hours into withdrawals, or have decided to smoke wherever, around the park.
First let me say that I am not one of those 'recovering smokers' who espouses the evils of smoking. However, I don't understand how the removal of your privilege would then give you the right to break the rules?
I have only read about 18 pages of this thread but in that short time it has become clear just how intolerant people are of other people. Yes, the ones that effect you directly, OK, but the rest? Why would you care? Someone is showing belly. Why do you care? Someone breastfeeding. Why do you care. What actual business is it of yours. Your head swivels doesn't it? Look in a different direction.
I used to say this..."tell you what, you stop driving your fuel burning autos and I will believe that you really care about the air we all breath. Until then mind your own business".
.I do agree that secondhand smoke withing an enclosed area is a health problem both short and long range, but I'm not buying into the concept that it amounts to diddly in the open air
Do you have allergies?
Shouldn't post...shouldn't post.....
Okay, can't resist, my peeve is not one where I could look away...I was trapped.
I was sitting on crowded bus one day next to a rather large woman. Nothing against her being large, except that she kept invading my space, so to speak, and she had NOT SHAVED HER LEGS! The more I tried to move away from her, the more she invaded my space. The seat on my other side was occupied, and there were folks standing - so there was no place for me to go to make it stop. She sat down after I did. The whole way her stubble was scouring my leg! and she was oozing sweat to boot! The part of her thigh that was up against me that wasn't stubbly was wet with sweat.
Then when she left, well, I kid you not, there was a puddle of body fluids on the seat! I know the puddle was not her fault, (at least I don't think so...if it was sweat) but it was still a bit of an icky reminder for the duration of the trip.
Buthe part that stays with me is the sensation of that prickly stubble abrasing me.![]()

For all of you bothered by speedos, two pieces and breasts, stay out of Europe, European owned resorts, and away from Europeans in general. The men all wear speedos, and the women, regardless of size or age, all wear two pieces, often foregoing the top.
I am paraphrasing but Bill Maher once said something like "America was founded by the Pilgrims, people that were so uptight that the British ruling class was too liberal for them."
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you aren't a hairdresser.?
Seeing someone hurling into the trash can after riding mission space, when they should have known better than to ride something that spins.
Oh wait, that was me!
Unbathed children, especially babies. Older kids get dirty and gross. I understand. My kids can have a bath and 10 minutes after playing outside be filthy and disgusting, but your 8 month old is not walking around getting dirty. They are dirty from not being bathed. Poor kids.... And along the same lines, definitely change the diaper. I cannot imagine the horrible diaper rash some of these kids must have.
The smell from the food court at POP during breakfast![]()
As for just smelling the smoke "too bad" comment - I just want to say that while I do find the smell disgusting, I am also allergic and that whiff of smoke will make me have an allegic reaction.
I know that this is going to sound mean and uncaring but here's the deal. Your allergies are yours and yours alone. The world cannot be expected to take anything but reasonable measures to accommodate your problems. Designated smoking areas are a reasonable and in many ways extreme measure to make your stay pleasant but they cannot do it all, nor should they be expected too.
Those that do not stay in the designated area should be dealt with by authorities within the parks. If they don't then complaints should be made. Those that do what is asked should not be made to feel that they have caused you harm because you were not watching out for yourself and you didn't avoid the areas. There aren't many of them in the parks to avoid, it should be simple. Remember you are the one that gets the reaction not them.
I had a leg injury late last year year that left me with a minor but permanent disability. I have a real problem on stairs going up, but mostly down. Uneven pavement can catch me by surprise and drop me to the ground. Still, that is my problem. I must be ever alert to the dangers that affect me uniquely. If I had an allergy to smoke I would do what is necessary to avoid the smoke. It is not the smokers problem it is yours. It is not anyone's problem that I have a hardship with uneven ground so, I will not demand that everything be flat and level because I might fall.
It is just a matter of time before smoking will be banned everywhere in this country, in the meantime perhaps compromise is called for.
