Al Butts created Scrabble.

hehehe

Well - his full name was Alfred Mosher Butts and he lived from 1899 to 1993.

Sometimes I wish I applied the logic I give geocaching to my job...

Geocaching is so much fun !!! We even went while vacationing in Cape Cod this past summer.

My DH is out in the woods right now somewhere and I'm decoding things for him! I figured out the scrabble thing and had to call him back.

he's like "yaeh...i'm in the woods...write it down and i'll do it tonight"

We've been doing it for about 4 months now...found out just recently that member of DH's volunteer Fire House are cachers too! heheh We found a cache with a disposable camera in it, took our picture, they got it developed and were like "wait...we KNOW them!" heheheh

Could someone explain this to me? I've heard of it and even see some in our area. What exactly do you get? What do you leave?

My dad thinks it's a treasure hunt. My mom has even been on a few with us. We love it!

I can't wait for it to warm up and start this up again. We started last spring, but only found one cache. We've found parts of a two multi-caches but never found the final one on those. It's really hard for us with two small kids too. But, there is one really close to our house. We could even walk. It's a microcache though and we haven't had much luck finding those.

DH was checking on one of his "microcaches" he placed last night.

It's buried under about 5" of snow. hehehe

I won't go out in the bitter cold...but DH is out today in the woods.

He's doing more of the "puzzle" ones now...where you have to find certain clues along the way to get to the final coordinates (we were running around the library last night...heheh...people must have thought us nuts!)

My friend calls me a total geek...but ya know..it's something I enjoy doing with my DH. Maybe not on a 15 degree day though...hehehe

I hear ya....it's tooooo cold to be out caching lol. We won't go back out again until springtime.
We usually go out with myself, hubby and dd soon to be 6 and my best friend and her two little ones...5 and 6. The kids love it, it's usually us women who complain about some of the hikes lol.

I just wanted to check-in. Geocaching is a great family "sport". We've taken some kids along with us a few times and they have all loved it. We try to take our dogs as often as possible. They are retired Search and Rescue dogs and they are pretty good at finding caches, especially those in ammo boxes and the ones that still have residual human scent clinging to them.
Good caching!

I forgot to mention in my previous post:
We learned The Hundred Years War didn't last 100 years. According to the cache, it was 116 years.
Good caching!
