Things I would never have done without the DIS

Without the DIS I wouldn't have been brave enough to take my son (who has mild autism) to WDW, because I would have thought that he wouldn't enjoy it and that it would be overwhelming. Thanks to the DISabilities thread I found out that lots of ASD kids have a great time, and we went, and he LOVED it!:cool1:

Without the DIS:
I wouldn't know about the dance party at HS during EMH

I wouldn't know about the teardrop in MK

Can someone help me with these two? I am not sure what they are? Thanks fellow Dis'ers:thumbsup2

Dance Party is the parade at DHS - all the pixar characters

The teardrop is a location in toontown where characters can often be spotted.

Could someone explain this one?

upgrade our 5 day passes to 7 days after we use them once & they will only cost a few $$ more

I think I'm missing something simple here.

The price difference between a 5 day and a 7 day pass is very little because the more days you have on the ticket the less per day you pay. A lot of people will purchase a ticket with a package and then upgrade the ticket to include more days.

Ok, I really need this explained to me also.

Without the Dis, it never would have occurred to me to purchase a 10-day non-expiring ticket with Water Park Fun & More options one year and use that ticket to get into water parks for many years. We would have continued to purchase a Premium Annual Pass every year to get the water parks.

Thanks!

When you buy the non-expiring tickets, the parks days and water park days are seperate days that do not expire. Depending on how long the ticket is for (I think the 10 day tickets have like 6 water park days, so it is almost like having 16 total days on the ticket). We did this one year with a 7 day ticket and we still have 2 or 3 water park days left that will never expire (until I use them). It can really save some money.

The teardrop is a location in toontown where characters can often be spotted.

The dance party during EMH is actually at the Playhouse Disney attraction and has different characters that dance with the kids (and adults) during the Evening EMH.

Block Party Bash is the afternoon parade and are mainly the Pixar characters that do often dance with kids.

I would never have:
- tried the Sweet Almond Pretzel at Kringla Bakery Norway THE BEST!
- known that FastPasses can be used anytime after the scheduled time BEST TOURING HELP EVER
- easily found great parade/show viewing locations
- tried a Dole Whip (which I'll skip now)

See, I just learned something else. I didn't know FP could be used anytime after the scheduled time.:thumbsup2

What a great thread!

Things I never would have known about/done:

Dole whips
Grey Goose slushes
Make your own pretzels
Free Dining
The raining umbrella at DHS
Shortcut to AK thru RFC
How to effectively use a FP
Schoolbread
Le Cellier
Miyuki
The ADR process

and loads more I'm sure I'm forgetting at the moment~

29 days wooohooo! :thumbsup2:banana::thumbsup2

Ok, can someone explain the ones in red? Thanks!

Our trip is not until September - but from the planning point of view -
without the Dis I would have never:

*Made Mickey ears tie dye shirts:hippie:

*Paid for a photopass share:thumbsup2

*Made a spiral notebook for touring plans and notes to take to the parks:)

*Made ADRs 90 days out at 6:00am online and 7:00am for the phone in ressies. Since I live overseas, I added funds to my skype account to call and good thing too as I was on hold for an hour! Thanks Dis for the advice! My call only cost 1.5 Euro!:woohoo:

*Learned how to post photos to a web site:surfweb:

*Found www.portorleans.org:surfweb:

How did you do the 1st one and can I have some more info on the 2nd? Thanks!

Without the DIS, I wouldn't have known:

to look for Push in Tomorrowland.
how to get from one park to another,
the importance of getting there by rope drop,
that a "plan of action" was uber-important,
how much to tip the wonderful Mousekeepers,
which resort to choose,
how the dining plan works,
to order the seafood bisque at Narcooses,
to try a Dole Whip,
and a million other tips that made our first Disney trip EXTRAORDINARY!

Thanks, DISers! :thumbsup2

Make your own pretzels :quote]

Grey goose slushes can be found in France. I think they are lemon flavor and are made with Grey Goose Vodka.

Make your own pretzels are in DTD @ Goofys Candy Co. You get to tell them what toppings and choclate to dip a pretzel rod into. They are a snack on the dining plan (at least they used to be)

[ Shortcut to AK thru RFC ]
[ Schoolbread ]
[ Miyuki ]

There is a official park entrance at the Rainforest Cafe at AK since the "back" entrance actually exits into the Oasis.

School bread is a sweet bread you can get in on of the countries.... I think Norway.

Miyuki is the candy lady in Japan that makes the lollypops.

How did you do the 1st one and can I have some more info on the 2nd? Thanks!

Go to the creative DISigns forum there is tons of great info on making the tie dye mickey shirts there -
here are some of ours from december :santa:

Photopass shares aren't allowed on the DIS - check facebook for a group.

Ok, can someone explain the ones in red? Thanks!

Grey Goose Slushes, An Adult beverage in France. Just one of the Frozen Drinks that can be found in Epcot.

Miyuki, Miyuki is also known as the Candy Lady. She has a small booth right outside the shopping area of Japan. She makes one of a kind candies on a stick for the kids that stand and watch.

Without the DIS we wouldn't have.....

Done the pick a pearl at japan and pre-ordered the carriage pearl cage on ebay.

Got free water whenever we were thirsty instead of lugging around water
Known all the ins and outs of using the dining plan
Gone into CLub Cool
Seen the giant Gingerbread house at the the Grand FLoridian and purchased a shingle.

Oh where to start...

1. I would have not been able to plan my DFTW without all the great brides on the wedding thread...nor found the perfect shoes on-line from a Canadian store...nor found the most fabulous photographer for our wedding (Randy Chapman).
2. Known about the lime green Mickey's.
3. Wouldn't have had all the wonderful shirts from the Disigners.
4. Known about all the wonderful Christmas decorations throughout the Parks and Resorts.
5. Known about the pick-a-pearl.
6. Tried LeCellar and the awesome cheese soup.
7. Would not have found out about the dooney and bourke sketch purse that I have been unable to talk myself out of. Had I not seen it until our next trip I would have had sticker shock and not bought it. Since I have had lots of time to admire it on the Dis, I finally broke down and bought one on ebay.
8. I wouldn't have all the great friends I have found on the Dis !!

Had no idea about PUSH until the DIS and then we ran into him (almost literally) in Tomorrowland. My son (who was 18mo. at the time) thought PUSH was amazing. He kept following him and at one point tried to "push" him around :rotfl2:. The garbage can just kept on talking to him...

I'd upload a pic of it, but don't know how:confused3
