Things I wish I knew BEFORE I bought into The Villas at Disneyland Hotel

There is no autopay discount. It’s just a helpful feature if a member doesn’t want to pay everything up front at the beginning of the year.

If you want to have monthly autopay debit a card on file you cannot prepay a lump sum at anytime.

If you want to pay with gift cards you need to pay the full annual amount when the statement is generated. You can prepay through the previous year as much as you would like from various forms of payment including gift cards, but once the statement generates the remaining balance is due. You cannot do monthly installments.
I dont know why i thought there was a discount lol I pay too many bills 🤣

Oh ok so if you go for monthly debit payments then your locked into that and cannot do multiple lump sum payments is what im understanding now

What if you're on the monthly payment and get the money and just want to do one final payment and be done, can you do this or you're locked into monthly because thats what you chose? Thanks so much!

So in other words, I better get to it 🤣🤣

So im assuming if you don't have autopay setup then you can do the gift cards when you want, but you wont get the autopay discount?

What happens if you prepay half of them in gift cards now that theyre all paid off, would you not be eligible for debit card autopay starting January?

Are they going to mail me something with how to setup autopay and how this works? 😅
Autopay discount? Dont think that’s a thing.

If you have autopay setup you can’t make payments that I am aware of. If you want to pay ahead before billing comes out you can if no autopay is set up. I prepaid last year and didn’t like how they applied payments to my account so I’m just saving my GC and will the bills when they come due with my GC’s.

Ok now I'm scared because I just bought the resales this year so everything is paid in full, but come this January, am i too late for monthly payments and should have been doing that this whole time?? I didnt think to pay because it says nothing is due. If I have to pay everything in January in full thats going to put me outt lol

Yes, in the past you could be enrolled in monthly payments and go in and make a payments with DGC prior to the payment hitting the card on file, but DVC stopped that. Members that had been doing this needed to call DVC if they wanted to use a DGC and they were informed this practive was no longer permitted and they either enrolled in autopay and let it charge the card OR they switched to paying the annual statement where they could use DGCs or whatever payment they preferred.

That's fine. If you want autopay for monthly payments you can change it right now since you're paid in full and there is no payment due. Go to My DVC > My Annual Dues > Manage Auto-Pay and you can enroll each individual contract.

Im not sure how much my dues are 🤣🤣
IDK if you're joking 🤣

I am not sure if you can see the statements of resale contracts the year they closed. If you can, they would be listed under My DVC > My Annual Dues > View Statement.

If you can't see the statement, multiply the number of points you own at each home resort by the 2025 rate: https://www.dvcresalemarket.com/buying/annual-dues/

Assume the dues will go up 3-5%.

Thank you so much! What day of the month are these Dues charged, that will help me decide which card, im doing it right now! I know a ball park of animal kingdom and blt but I dont know how much my SSR Dues are so I suppose ill calculate that now, I figured if I could afford to pay Dues at closing all at once I should be able to come up with something 🤣🤣

$10,000 worth of GC. 🥴🥴🥴🥴🤪🤪🤪🤪
I prepay my dues, but don't have numbers anywhere near that cost.... So far for next year we have paid all but about $200... Will make January easier and have used leftover gift cards from other trips as well as big discounted gift cards to pay the dues.

Not sure how it would work if you ended up selling a contract.

There will be an alert on the website, but the dues portion of the website typically goes down a day or two around 12/15.

The statements will generate a few days after that and the dues are due 1/15.

Curious if you care to elaborate on how they applied the prepayment. I've been trying to allocate my gift cards pro rata across my contracts, although I believe @PolyRob said in another thread that they basically just consolidate it all and then, anything extra is allocated to the .0 contract. Essentially, sounded like if you prepay, might as well just prepay all on the .0 contract. Maybe having multiple UYs complicates things?

I still don't think I could bring myself not to do pro rata across my contracts because what if I prepay it all on the .0 contract and they decide to just carry everything over on that one with a bill coming do for all the others. I am also way to risk averse to keep $10,000 on gift cards - I won't be quite there on my dues, but I'm probably not too far off.

Sorry if im being redundant but if they are fully paid then we can put gift cards towards them for the next round of annual dues?

So it let me choose the 1st or 15th which is great so I can do two on one cycle and the other on another!

I've never turned on auto-pay, but I think you have to turn that off to have the option to pay dues in advance. If you turn that off, when you go to the dues page, on the left, you'll see a box with "Thank You - Your 2025 dues have been paid in full" with a blue icon to "Make a Payment." You click there and then you'll be taken to a page where you can select one of your contracts to make a payment, and when you get to the bottom, you select card for payment and then you can enter a Disney Gift Card. I've done this more times than I can count in the past few months. I basically liquidate my DGCs as soon as I get them.

Yes, that's what happened to me. It consolidated all my pre-payments and reallocated the lump sum paying off each contract in order starting with .0
So it let me choose the 1st or 15th which is great so I can do two on one cycle and the other on another!

Do you have to call members services to do gc payments or is it available online I don't see it
If you enabled autopay you can no longer pay with Disney GCs. If you are on annual statements you select "new card" under payment method and there is an option for DGC.

Member Services doesn't deal with dues. That would be Member Accounting.

Thank you! So glad I asked about all this, I didnt know anything about how to handle the annual dues yet. Def want to be ahead of the game!
