Things I Learned on Last Trip (Quick)

Just got back this afternoon from a 6 day trip to the park. Thought I would post a few things I found interesting over this 6 day stretch No big details, caught a nasty cold the last few days so kinda worn out!

1) Harbor side security entry has improved greatly since our last trip (Nov 16). Seems like each morning all posts were open, plus several mornings they opened another checkpoint on the far right (facing entry) that does not appear to be a permanent station. We always entered on the far right, caught the opening of this station on a couple mornings that really sped things up.

2) Maxpass is awesome! The ability to check for new passes while eating, standing in line, walking around REALLY helped. We experienced several busy days, family commented that it really did not stop us from riding a lot. Also, the multiple experiences passes are a treat when they pop up. At one point we had five 3 person multiple experience passes last night. Combined with other fastpasses we almost had a hard time using them up before park close.

3) Halloween was super fun. We did not think the treat trails would be worth it, but after reading the Halloween thread about starting in Frontierland at Golden Horseshoe/Zocalo we were hooked. Only completed two more in the new area behind Big Thunder, but four total was enough. No lines at any of them.

4) First time riding Guardians. New favorite ride in the park

#4! Right! I loved Tower of Terror and was so sad when it left, but guardians? OMG .. literally LOVED it! I do miss tower of terror and it's theming but I am actually more than pleased with Guardians!

#2 agree MaxPass is brilliant! we were there for only two days last month, had MaxPass for one of them. We almost couldn't keep up with the fast passes - we would rebook as soon as we had scanned in to the line for a ride. I wouldn't get it each day for a longer trip but certainly for a couple of days.

#4 I was really not happy with getting rid of ToT, which had been my favourite ride, but they absolutely smashed it out of the park with GotG. The theming and story is every bit as good as it was for Tower, and so long as DHS has it's arguably superior version then I think this was a change for good.

If your FP time opens and the ride is down, your MaxPass FP converts to an 'any FP ride, any time' FP. This is only with MP. Happened to me with Splash. I used it on Indy.

The one flaw with Maxpass currently, and easily addressed, is the redemption system. Cast members need to do a better job keeping the redemption area clear. Couple spots, Indy for instance, have narrow queues for the return. The other night a group of about 10 people were hanging out right in front of one of the machines while the other was being used by someone totally confused (and argumentative)., We stood there a lot longer than required, backing up the line right into the choke point in front of Indy. This happened at several locations. People should be asked to wait outside the area.

If your FP time opens and the ride is down, your MaxPass FP converts to an 'any FP ride, any time' FP. This is only with MP. Happened to me with Splash. I used it on Indy.

I think you can get a paper mep type of thing if you go up and ask when your ride is down with the paper passes. At least you would be able to ride Indy later if it was down in this instance.

I've never thought to ask a CM for an any ride/any time FP when I had a FP for a ride that was down, I didn't know you could. I've only had a CM tell me that the paper FP was now an 'any time' FP for that specific ride.

It was such a nice surprise for me with MP. Walked up to Splash when my window opened to find it down, looked at my phone and BOOM, the MP now said 'Multiple Experience'.

Agree. A good portion of people still have no clue what’s going on or what those little scanners or for and when CM’s have to spend 10 minutes explaining fastpass to someone right in front of the scanner it totally clogs the area up.

We didn't get maxpass but I did scab my tickets into the app. Anytime we got fp it showed up there. One time we did get a multiple experience pass but it was weird because even after we used it (for the ride we originally got the fp for) it still showed 4 mep left- which didn't do us any good because there's 6 of us.

MEP is great unless you already redeemed the FP right before the ride breaks down. My sister and I were unfortunate to redeem our FPs right before Haunted went down for over 40 minutes. While everyone vacated the lines and left cause of the long wait, we ended up staying cause we already redeemed our FPs before they could become MEPs.

While everyone vacated the lines and left cause of the long wait, we ended up staying cause we already redeemed our FPs before they could become MEPs.

We've gotten anytime return passes for this, but usually we had to ask for them.

Yes! We saw this a lot on our last trip! Really created some nasty bottlenecks!

This happened to us at Splash. It was a long wait even with the FP, and when we made it to the front the ride went down. We asked if we could return later to use the FP and were told nope, since we scanned it, we are SOL. I didn't really think that was fair, so we ended up waiting for the ride to come back up which ended up being about 20 more minutes. The CM was actually kind of nasty when we asked, but that was really the only problem we had with MP.

I also agree on GoG. I am a recent fan of the movies and I couldn't get enough of this ride! It's our new favorite in any park - including WDW! Honestly, it's so well done that I would have enjoyed it even if I wasn't a huge fan of the movie. SO AWESOME!!

That is not going to fly. Disney needs to get their act together and do the right thing. You should email Disney about that your experience. Do not tolerate poor service.

Multiple experience passes are not only for Max Pass. They will appear for anyone using the app with their tickets and FP.

That is not going to fly. Disney needs to get their act together and do the right thing. You should email Disney about that your experience. Do not tolerate poor service.

I find it hard to believe they "can't do anything." They can create rider switch passes and add them to any ticket you choose, so there is zero chance they "can't do anything." It's also one thing to think you can't do anything so that's what you tell a customer, it's another to be rude about it. They give out MEP like candy, and it doesn't affect a CM so I don't know why they'd need to be nasty. I would also maybe contact guest services and explain what happened and 1. get clarification so you know for next time what to ask for/what to say and 2. mention the rudeness.

#4! Right! I loved Tower of Terror and was so sad when it left, but guardians? OMG .. literally LOVED it! I do miss tower of terror and it's theming but I am actually more than pleased with Guardians!

I have mixed feelings. I was sad to see ToT leave DL. I went end of september to Tower of Terror at WDW , and the next week did GotG DL. I can't really decide which I prefer lol
