They're still advertising 2007 Dining Plan

We went to WDW last July and did the Dining Plan. For the Table Service, an appetizer was included last year, as well as the tip. It was my understanding that both of those were cut from this year's Dining Plan.

We called to reserve our July vacation for this year on Saturday and quickly received a small package on Monday. In the package was a sheet about our Dining Plan. It said that our Table Service included appetizers and tip again this year.

That sound right?

Did you book Deluxe Dining? That includes appetizers but no tip.

Tips are not included in any dining plan. There are some meal/shows that tips are included CRT is one of those. Appys are included in the Deluxe but not in the basic. Hope that helps.

In 2008 there are two dining plans. The basic plan is the same as the 2007 dining plan, except that no appetizer is included for adults at table service restaurants (children age 3-9 do get them with the kids' meals) and the tip is not included. The deluxe plan costs close to twice as much, gives each person in the party three meal credits per night of stay that can be used for either counter or table service, doubles the snack credits, and includes table service appetizers for adults. Each person on the deluxe plan also gets a refillable resort mug. The deluxe plan does not include table service tips.

If you are receiving information from Disney that they have a dining plan with tips included, that information is erroneous as of January 1, 2008.

There may be a few restaurants or package deals that will include the tips or the appetizers (the price of CRT and the dinner shows include the tip; if you book the Fantasmic dining package at the studios it includes appetizers for adults, even on the basic plan) but in most places, the above applies.

With whom did you book this trip? It's extremely unusual for Disney to get information to you THAT quickly. Did you call WDTC, or did you book through a Travel Agent?

There is now another thread with someone receiving the same information in the mail package. I think Disney may have a problem with the brochures it is sending out...either that or they have changed the dining plan to its 2007 version without notice.

Well I can say that my experience has been when we booked our trip by calling the number on disneys sight we booked the basic DDP. I read that gratuities were not included. They have not sent me any kind of information about the dinning plan at all. Although, when I made my ADR they told me that the tip would be included. So I'm just going with the assumption it's not and that we have to pay and if I get there and they tell me something different.... well I'll just chalk it up to a little "magic"

According to our other thread, there is a date in a corner on the flyer. This flyer is from 2007. My guess is the flyers got mixed up.

Well, I got the same info today (May 6, 2008)...see photo below.

Interesting... do you think you can escalate the issue with Disney, either now or when you arrive? "Look - this is what I got and this is when I got it, and I expect Disney to honor this information"?

How they can probably get around honoring it would be to point out that it was 2007 brochure and show you where the fine print 2007 date on it is and then show you an updated 2008 brochure with the no appetizer no tip change in policy.
