They want us to move from the Poly too!

A good point made by a previous poster.

If you absolutely have to move-your new reservation should reflect the AP rate. In no way would I accept a move to a different hotel and be expected to pay rack rate when my original reservation was under the AP rate.

I would insist on this. They should at least do this.

I think a move to another monorail resort would be the only thing they should offer. If that is not available then I would expect some sort of upgrade.

I would NOT pay rack rate for the hotel I was moved to. They should not ask you to do this when you booked an AP rate.

I'm a bit confused too? Are they still telling you that you have to move whether or not you agree?

Finally rec'd a call from the supervisor. Could you hear me venting my displeasure?! Apparently, some massive system fault is to blame for the inventory problems at the Poly (I should have asked whether other resorts were also effected). WDW is allegedly booked solid, and I was told that the only option being given to Poly guests is for a move to the AKL. I was offered a pool view room at the AP rate. Better than what that guy offered yesterday. With pressure, I was able to up it to a sav view. I also suggested an anniversary dinner at Boma's. We'll see. The best thing was that she canceled my original 11/1 reservation at the AKL and added 11/1 to my first few days at the Poly. She also honored that rate. So now I don't have to make 3 moves. Just 2.

I am feeling a bit better. Not very pleased, but at least some effort was finally made on their part. I did not want to move and did not plan to. However, I could not be assured a continuing reservation at the Poly and did not want to chance being walked to a less desirable or value resort. I was informed that this could very well happen. I've been a zombie all day. I knew I'd never make it another 23 days living with the unknown.

Thanks to everyone for listening. Maybe I should have pushed harder. Here's hoping no one else from these boards receives the dreaded Poly call! It really stripped alot of magic from this trip. Hoping I can get it back.

Susie

Well,

It sounds like things are looking up. I know it's not exactly what you wanted but I'm sure you'll still find magic in your trip.

I'm glad to hear they honored the AP rate for the resort they switched you to.

I'm also glad to hear they gave you a savannah view.

If you get the dinner at Boma's that will be icing on the cake.

Please enjoy your trip. Just remember to think positive.

FWIW, you can always ask if there is room for an upgrade to concierge when you check in. It's amazing at AKL.

Let us know how your trip goes.:D

Great job!! Glad to hear they have improved your compensation. I hope they'll give you the Boma dinner too; you definitely deserve it.

You will get the magic back!! Thanks for keeping us updated. This is a good learning experience for all of us, I think. I hope you will have a wonderful trip--AKL Savannah view will be magical, though I know you'll miss the monorail!

What are the dates you were to stay at the Poly and are now at AKL? (If you don't mind me asking)

Isn't the 1st week of Nov "Jersey Week" when all of New Jersey schools are out due to a week of Teacher Training??? On other boards "Jersey Week" is announced and avoided like the plague by non Jersey dwellers!!

I think you misread the posts somewhere. The original poster did not have AP rates. She said that she had a AAA discount. I am assuming that they offered her the AAA discount at AKL.

Oops! Sorry, I was reading another similar thread that mentioned AP rates, I think.

Either way, I'm happy they offered her the AP rate.

I would have cancelled the whole reservation and told them I was staying at the Swan instead. ;) It's totally rediculous that you have to stay at the AKL.... even with the lower rate and upgrade I'd be disappointed. :( I sure hope you can still have a nice trip. :earsgirl:

I would cancel my WDW resort ressies and tell them I was making ressies for the Hard Rock or Royal Pacific Resort or Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal for the duration of my trip !

But then that's just me!!!

......who may be following these threads. I hope you're taking note of all the grief you're causing to some to your most diehard fans/guests. Maybe we're not really guests anymore, just numbers on your computer screen to be manipulated any way you see fit. With all the brainpower down at WDW this is the best way to handle the situation at the Poly you could come up with? That's pretty pathetic.

How about this..Delay the renovation of the Tuvalu longhouse for 4 - 6 weeks, problem solved! My guess is that's "What Walt Would Do". Oh no, delaying a renovation would screw up our whole long term schedule and might cost us a few $$$$.

Calling guests who have confirmed reservations, who have been saving and planning their vacations for 6 - 12 months, and telling them "You have to move to resort X and pay $Y and that's your only choice sounds like "What Michael would Do".

I guess the bean counters finally have a complete strangle-hold on the entire Disney Empire. Surely not EVERY decision should be decided on what's best for the bottom line.

BTW, if most of the resorts are booked near capacity and the people who are being displaced from the Poly have no choice of which resort they can relocate to, why is the MK closing at 7:00 - 7:30 most every night in early Nov.? Seems to me it should be open to 10:00 - 12:00 every night as it is during Xmas when the resorts are also booked.

Susy, I'm very sorry that this has happened to you. I'm hoping that you will receive first class treatment at the AKL. Disney really dropped the ball on this one.

Just to update you on this NOT all schools are off that week and it's NOT all week. Most schools are only off the first thursday and friday. This year they are also off on election day.

Park Hours are reflective of projected park attendance. Many of the guests attending the Disney parks do not stay at Disney resorts, therefore Disney resort occupany does not affect park hours. The hours for Nov are reflective of what hours in the fall have always been. Many resorts in the fall are busy due to conventions which do not affect park attendance.

To everyone that has been so kind and empathetic during this whole mess-
You were like my own little personal support group. You made it all alittle more bearable by listening and caring. Time to move on though. Sorry if people continue to respond and ask questions and I don't answer. I'm trying really hard to put the disappointment behind in hopes of renewing all the excitement I initially felt for this trip.

Thanks again!
Susie

Susie,

You are amazing!

Remember the magic not only belongs to Disney it is inside us all. We decide the magic.

Have a great time on your trip!

Renee

 I am sending you some pixie dust!!! I hope this is the storm before the rainbow and your trip turns out to your best one ever. You will really enjoy AKL, in fact, it is now one of my fav's.

HAVE A MAGICAL TRIP

Susie, Hope you have an awesome trip. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by AKL. We LOVE AKL. Try Jiko and Boma while there! Sending pixie dust!

Why should you be upgraded? You are still paying the same price for a deluxe room, granted is might be an inconvenience in the minds of some at the Poly's proximity to everything. But you aren't owed anything else, like an upgrade, discount, etc...

Just my two cents.
