We were at WDW 5/1-5/7 last week, and we spent the whole week looking for the perfect shirt for DS2... We FINALLY found one at the Test Track gift shop at Epcot... On the mannequin. He would need a youth XS and the only one in the shop was on the freaking mannequin, and they refused to undress it to sell us the shirt! We were ALL upset. Even management told us they were not permitted. It was our last day in the parks when we found it, so we couldn't check back. It was only available in this ONE store and DS is still telling me to go back and buy him the Mickey car shirt.
I understand their refusing to break the magic, but we refused to buy anything in there. Sadly, i cannot find this shirt ANYWHERE online. Makes me very sad.![]()
The title of your thread is misleading. They did not turn down a sale - they couldn't sell you something that was not for sale and/or did not have what you wanted. It had nothing to do with 'breaking the magic', just that they didn't have something.
When I worked in retail, the mannequin clothing was very rarely fit for resale. Most of the time we used bench adhesive on the mann to help the presentation of the merchandise. That rendered the clothing unsaleable, unless someone wanted a shirt with gooey sticky stuff all over the inside, with a nice coating of lint as well.
