They Tried To Make Me Go To Rehab, But I Said No No No! Updt 11/7: Solo no more Pg.27

No longer are there sad, depressed faces 'round my community, it seems. :)

That is the best news we could possibly ask to hear, Jen!

I must say that I really do prefer DL's version of POTC over WDW's. POTC is much longer at DL than it is at the MK. WDW seems to have received the abridged version of the attraction as DL’s has a much longer prelude, and has extra scenes at the end that were left out of the MK's version of the ride. I still enjoy riding it, though, and love its gift shop at the end with all the pirate toys/curio.

You know I JUST learned that the WDW version is shorter?! I had no idea they'd be different! I'm having a hard time imagining that POTC isn't in a New Orleans square setting much less that it's going to be missing scenes... AGONY!

;)

I'm really, REALLY happy to read that life is getting back to normal for you.

I'm glad things are looking better for you. I always feel better when I get my nails done also!!

Can't wait for the next installment

Your trip report is awesome:thumbsup2 I must subscribe:goodvibes

I am also glad you and your family were safe during the hurricane:hug:

I love that you went on the Carpet Ride! I have yet to go on it as the line is always too long.
Hi Lessa! Try to ride it next time, its a very sweet ride. You'll love the wind blowing on your face as you go 'round :)

Great update. I love the fact that you had a Dole Whip for breakfast. I might have to try that next time. Normal rules don't apply at Disney, right?

So glad that Houston and your neighborhood are getting back on track. Continues prayers for you and your family and friends.

You know, I just realized that I did only have a pineapple float for breakfast that time! LOL! Btw, I vaguely recall eating a Mickey rice crispie treat for breakfast during our Oct'07 WDW trip! ;)

First off, glad to hear that life is resuming for you and your neighbors!

Great shot of the camel spitting! LOL! And it sounds like a wonderfully fun and relaxing time you are having! I have never eaten at Tony's but that fountain is just too cute! I love L&the T, might have to pop in there sometime!

Allyson :)

Hi Allyson! I read good reviews abt. Tony's for lunch, but they say dinner is overpriced. I love Italian food, and theirs didn't disappoint. The only curious thing was there weren't many people dining when I was there. The place was at best, 1/4 occupied.

I am so glad that you are back. I was worried about you and I was missing your report. Yea for your update.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and concern. I am glad that things are getting back to normal here.

When are you going back to WDW? :)

Great update and photos, looking forward to the next installment. Glad to hear life is getting back to normal for you and your family. :)

Thanks Beth! Yesterday we went to the grocery store, and found bread, milk, meat and eggs in overflowing abundance! I was skipping along the store aisles :) Crazy, right? But it is in stark contrast to the days when there was nothing there! :sad2:

I always think about you whenever I compare DL vs. WDW :) The boys and I might make a quick trip in the wintertime to DL. We desperately miss our Indiana Jones Ride! ;)

What a cool thread! Thanks for your reviews!

Thanks for reading along! :)

It sounds like you had a fantastic day :goodvibes

Hi Snow! It was a fantastic day, and to think, I've just finished lunch at Tony's, and have a half-day at the MK to go! :goodvibes

I'm glad things are looking better for you. I always feel better when I get my nails done also!!

Can't wait for the next installment

Hi! My not-so-secret escape from the boys is when I go to the nail salon. I've been their loyal customer for 9 years now. ;) And I never miss an appointment (hurricane ike was the only exception). Thanks for continuing to read along, update coming up very soon!

Your trip report is awesome:thumbsup2 I must subscribe:goodvibes

I am also glad you and your family were safe during the hurricane:hug:

Aww, thanks for the nice compliment and the kind words of concern. Btw, I think your dog is such a cutie!

Hey Jen,

Just checking the DIS for a sec. We just came in from the parks and we're BEAT!! I am about to go down to the pool bar and buy a mojito and drink it on the beach! DH will stay up with the kids while he watches football. Fair trade, eh?

So happy that things are back to normal there. I can totally sympathize and it does make you appreciate every little convenience that we are used to. You're right, no more IKE talk. Cant' wait to hear about when the rest of the fam joins you!

Alright, I'm off to StormAlong Bay:banana:

"Ask me how do you get to Tomorrowland
Close your eyes, make a wish and you're there...."

Have you ever seen the movie, "An Affair to Remember" starring Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant? Next to Titanic, I believe it is the most romatic movie of all time! :lovestruc

Anyway, in that movie, Deborah Kerr plays a nightclub singer who falls in love with playboy Cary Grant, despite being engaged to another man. One of the songs she sings in the movie is called "Tomorrowland" -- I swear it has a Disney connection. I have never confirmed it, though....I do like to think it does. ;)

Listen to it and see for yourself:

On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in July, as I walk beneath the magnificent Tomorrowland arch, I happily hum that tune in my head....

My first stop:

buzz2-1.jpg

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin!

I like the pychedelic neon colors of this ride, it is in stark contrast to the soft muted colors of TSM at DHS.

buzz1.jpg

It was practically a walk-on, so I sat in my space cruiser in no time :)

Can you spot the Hidden Mickey in this photo?

buzzhm-2.jpg

After Buzz, I decide to get on:

tta-1.jpg

The view from my seat:

Space Mountain from the TTA:

Entering SM (I unsuccesfully tried to take a photo of the whole sign):

IMG_5755.jpg

Inside SM:

IMG_5756.jpg

I had a small penlight with me, and used it to try and illuminate the inky darkness of SM. Didn't work (duh!) ;)

Got a cool Astro Orbiter shot as my vehicle exited SM:

IMG_5758.jpg

Took a castle photo from another perspective:

IMG_5759.jpg

Did you know that the same power system that runs the TTA runs the inter-terminal train at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport? The inter-terminal train is the only people mover built by the Walt Disney Company outside of a Disney property. Mechanically it is the same design as the PeopleMover/TTA in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.

In homage to its Houston connection, I ride the TTA again. ;)

Next, I walk over to the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor:

moinc-1.jpg

I had a great Disney joke, but have very slow texting fingers, so I didn't even attempt to send mine (To those who've read my old TR, you've heard this one before):

Question: Why doesn't anyone want to play with Tigger?
Answer: Because he's always playing with Pooh!
:rotfl:

It is a cute show, but I did feel a little sorry for those who were picked-on during its course. I'm glad I wasn't seated where they were.

After the comedy show, I head on to:

stitch.jpg

I absolutely dislike this attraction (I do not like being strapped-in by the neck, and I hate the smell of Stitch's burp--eewwww!) On the opposite end of the spectrum, my boys LOVE it so very much.

My purpose in going here was not to ride, but rather to buy Sam a few birthday presents from the gift shop. Remember, Sam is a huge Stitch fan, so I picked out a Stitch laser zapper and some toy swords for him and Jake. I have them sent to City Hall/Main St. package pick-up for later tonight.

The heavens then decide to open up and pour buckets of rain on the Magic Kingdom. :( Where did my bright sunny blue sky go?

I take out my trusty umbrella and head to the Main Street bakery:

bakery.jpg

And as quick as the rain started, it then abruptly stopped.

I snack on a delicious apple turnover (and was almost tempted to get a cinnamon roll too, lol! )

After that, I crossed Main Street to browse around the Main St. Emporium to kill some time before the parade.

mainstemp.jpg

I really wanted to get the Mickey dishwasher sign that you could turn to indicate "dirty" or "clean" contents. I don't know why I didn't buy it. :confused3 Maybe I was just overwhelmed by all the Disney goodies that I couldn't make a final choice. :upsidedow

The parade is now about to start. I pick an awesome spot right in front of the Emporium, across from the Watch store. The view to my left (Yikes! Where did all these people come from?) :

Up next:
The Disney Dreams Come True Parade! Tons of photos!
Stay tuned!

I wish I were at the BC sipping on a mojito too!!!! Drink one for me, will ya? :)

Oh yes! PLEASE go... I need my DL pic fix! ;) And you know when I finally get to WDW in January I'll think of you everytime I ponder how POTC and Haunted Mansion aren't right near each other in New Orleans Square!

I love classic Hollywood films, and LOVE Marni Nixon (who sang Debrah Kerr's parts, including Tomorrowland)! And I love your theory about it being related to Disney... It's supposed to be a classic Irish song but it was written for the movie, so it totally COULD be inspired by DL!

Ohhhh love, LOVE that movie. And Cary Grant. Thanks for the clip! Now I'm going to be humming it all day at work tomorrow thinking of Disney :)
I just love those blink and you miss it WDW afternoon showers. Looks like you had a good time- and that things are settling out at home HUGS!

"Hi

Thank you so much for your thoughts and concern. I am glad that things are getting back to normal here.

When are you going back to WDW? :)"

We are booked for next July. We will be at AKLV from July 6-12. We can't wait. I always wanted the clean/dirty for my dishwasher also. We finally bought it when we were there in July.

I didn't know that they made a dishwasher Mickey, clean/dirty...That is one of the things my daughter has asked for Christmas....oh, I wish I had seen them...Where did you see them?? My neice is going after Thanksgiving,,,,

They were available at the Main St. Emporium, and I also saw them at the kitchen store at DTD. :) Or you could call Disney merchandising and have them ship you one. Oh, I just remembered, I also saw them at the houseware section at Mousegears in Epcot. Hope you get one. I will probably get it on our next trip.....

Awesome! I am hoping for a Christmas DL or WDW trip, if not this year, maybe the next one :) Are you booked at Kidani or Jambo?

I have this huge DL craving! At this very moment, I feel like hoppin' on a plane to LA, lol!

I love the TTA  Your pictures make me want to go on it right now ::yes::

I can't wait to read all about the parade :goodvibes

Hi Snow! Update coming up soon, its taking forever to upload on photobucket! :)

Oh I just love An Affair To Remember. :lovestruc Such a romantic movie.

I was searching for my copy of it around here, and I couldn't find it. I guess I lent it out to somebody. Oh well, good reason to go out tomorrow and buy another one! :)

"Don't tell me not to live,
Just sit and putter,
Life's candy; the sun's
A ball of butter.
Don't bring around a cloud
To rain on my parade!"

--Fanny Brice

I am a huge Broadway Musical devotee. I have seen every major musical since the late eighties. And because of that, I am naturally drawn to Miz Barbra Streisand who played Fanny Brice in Funny girl. The song above is one of my favorites from the movie.

I thought it was quite appropriate for this chapter of my TR, since the grey clouds threatened, on and off, to douse sheets of rainwater on my Disney Dreams Come True parade that afternoon at the Magic Kingdom. The parade started late-ish, but I was very thankful it wasn't cancelled.

I have to caution you, I am a big Parade fanatic. And as much as I love to get on rides, watching the parades in WDW is just as important to me. :) I love to take parade photos. Consider yourself forewarned! LOL!

To keep the crowds entertained, the brave Main St. Firefighter tried putting out the "heat" that the humid Florida weather brought (using his trusty spray-fan, nonetheless;) ):

Here comes Walt (circa 1928):

Here's the "Wish Upon A Star" float that celebrates the early years of Walt Disney:

Pinocchio is its character with other famous Disney characters surrounding him: Gepetto, the Blue Fairy, Figaro, Cleo and Jiminy Cricket. Also joining him are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:

Next up is the "A Thousand Dreams To See" float. It focuses on Disney’s adventures in flight:

The float features Aladdin flying on his magic carpet:

Surrounding Aladdin are other high-flying Disney characters such as Winnie the Pooh, and Mary Poppins with her umbrella:
