The dogs that is! I got all my kids presents wrapped and put back in the attic today. The preseents for other people are sitting on the floor in the bedroom covered with a blanket (although that's not really necessary).

Anyway, the dogs were upstairs most of the afternoon, and every time I went upstairs they were on the bed. OK, no biggie. The doodle is in heat, and the poodle is neutered, but he's giving it the old college try.

So tonight I went upstairs to change clothes, and lo and behold, there was all kinds of garbage on the bed from the doodle tearing a package apart.

Grrrrrrrrr, not that I care that they found them, like dogs appreciate a surprise!:rotfl: but it ticks me off because I bought the stuff to fit equally in their stockings. I know, I'm anal, but what can i say? :lmao:

Our 6 month old retriever tore into my DHs Keurig that was nicely wrapped under the three. ANd if that wasn't enough he tore the curtains down in the study room and chew on the curtain rod:scared1: His new name is going to be HOOCH I completely feel your frustration:laughing:

DH picked up a new bone for our Krystal on Sunday, along with a few other treats. We made sure at the store that these were put in a seperate bag. When we got home, DH carried it in and sat it on the dining table, while we carryed in the rest of the bags. As we get in with the last of the bags, we notice that she is sitting up on her back legs, stretching as far as she could, sniffing at the bag. She's being good, because she isn't touching the table in any way.

Needless to say, that bag went into my closet and up on the top shelf until the 24th.

I've learned over the past 4 years that I cannot put out the presents for Dash until Christmas morning, cause he will find and open them every time. I always thought it was because he could smell them (treats, tennis balls, etc...). This year though, I am convinced he can read! I only have 1 present under the tree for him and it is nothing he has ever had before, so he can't know the smell AND it is in a plastic case. I thought it would be safe to put it under the tree. Nope, he dug and found it and ripped open the paper. It is the only one he touched. Smart dog! Next year I will have to write "Don't Touch Dash!" since he can obviously read ;):rotfl:

Murphy's will go under the tree Christmas eve with the other Santa gifts. I swear that dog gets more excited than anyone for Christmas :rotfl: Pre-child the presents would go under the tree as wrapped and he was really good about not bothering them. But he just knows when it is Christmas morning and when he is giving the go ahead he gets so excited and does such a good job opening his gifts. It is so funny...my dad never believed us until he witnessed it one year.

OH, you have a couple more years of this before he matures enough to behave. Honestly, those guys are sloooww at maturing. We've had 2 goldens, I speak from experience. Of course now, the Irish setter below is 4.5 and is just now getting the idea of good behavoir. :rolleyes1

I was more interested in jazzielady's comment about the poodle and his "old college try" and them being on the bed together. The immage in my mind is just to um, explicit! :rotfl2:

Funny about this thread. My 10 month old German Shepard, he is my big boy.

It is his first Christmas, so I wrapped empty boxes and put them under the tree, for a trial run, he sniffed them but left them alone for a few days.

So I figured we were safe and put real presents down.

So, Dd11 is wrapping his present a flannel "wubby" throw. he was watchng her do it. The little heathen took his present outside- we leave our back wooden door open, so he and my other GS can open the storm door-you have to really pull it to close it, but they can open it and let them selves out.

Ok, so he takes his present, opens it and then carries the wubby back inside. . Ok, I figure it smelled like my daughter and she had to open her jabber jaw and tell him not to look at his wubby while she was wrapping it.

Later, he took out my DM's present of underwear, but didn't open the package itself and my DD's SKechers netbook case and tried to unwrap that as well. SO no presents under the tree.

He also is fascinated by stockings and tried to make a run for one of them as well.

Maybe in 2 years we can presents under the tree early. But at least he isn't a tree pee'er like my friend's Great Pyrenees.lol

Too funny! When it got real quiet - which is apparently when they raided the stash - I half expected to find them rolled over smoking cigarettes!

So far we have 2 gifts under our tree. LOL The rest are needing to be wrapped. Anyway, the dogs have good about it so far, but normally they do steal something and chew it up. So far so good with the dogs, but last night one of our cats was under the tree, first just sitting and then the next thing we know she's trying to open DD's gift! LOL She pulled the bow off and ripped part of the paper, DBF and I were just watching her do it, it was so funny.....we made her stop before she opened the whole thing tho. :)
