They eat better than us.

I do use TiW card at the value food courts, but I also enjoy Roaring Fork's food offerings.

I like the QS at SSR and AKL.

We just had our first stay at SSR and we were impressed by its food court, Artist Palette. Not only could we use our TIW card, but the food and service were great, and we found the ambience to be nice as well. We thought it was better than Mara, in our opinion, on all points.

I stayed at the Mods mostly but also the values. I always got my TIW discount and FQ, Riverside, CB, CS and all the values. This may have changed. I use it at FT BBQ and love the food there!

I'm at WDW now and on our first night because of airline stuff we stayed at art of animation . Man was the food great. I just had the egg platter At BCV market place it was nasty. At art of animation they have a build your own omelet station a build your own fruit bowl and on and on. It was great. Don't get me wrong I love the size of the villas. McDonald's is 4 star compared to BCV market place.

Counter service food has never been a strong point in any deluxe. The worst is located at the Epcot Resorts.

The best are SSR, VWL, AKL and now VGF.

I know we may be in the minority, but even when we stay in a studio with the kitchenette we usually eat breakfast and lunch in our room. In a 2BR with a full kitchen we even do most dinners. Maybe non-DVC resorts have better food and choices because most guests need to eat there. At DVC, maybe they don't have as much demand because there is that option to eat in your room.

Ummm

You want good food and service at Disney? Stay Value. It goes downhill as pricing goes up. Disney thinks "it's prettier we can provide less". And I half to admit it works. They get top dollar for those subpar hotels. :)

I stayed at AoA back in January on a work trip to the Orlando area (picture a man in a suit, briefcase in one hand, roll-a-board in the other, checking into AoA...the looks I recieved...well, thats a whole other story)...back on topic. Awesome awesome awesome food court. The room was typical All-Star size but the theme work was phenomenal. All the different food choices in the food court made it for an enjoyable evening...after I ditched the suit.

Yep. Value Resort food courts > any DVC QS

And it sounds like AoA > values.

After a little while I realized my DVC trips would become better if I forgot DVC QS and instead ate in the parks.

I totally agree. I have been disappointed with every single DVC counter service I have tried.

Last trip we had a car and ventured over there for lunch, definitely was nice. WIth the qty of rooms at value resorts as well as no other options nearby it makes sense that selection is strong. I'm sure based on Disney studies value clientele requires and buys more there. DVC clients may while they would like the quality, Disney would rather steer to sitdown restaurants (I would).

Boardwalk could do so much more with quick service. The Belle Vue Lounge could be a totally happening spot every morning with a wide assortment of pastries, and beverages. Plus, all you have to do to have better QS is just drag a new food wagon, shack, or trailer over there. Not a hard thing to do...and you even keep it in the theme. I do not like Beach Club Marketplace. I do agree that having France nearby makes up for a lot, and that you just plan your food around your park visit instead of your resort stay.

As good as Contempo Café may be...its nothing next to the old Food and Fun Center on the 1st floor of the Contemporary. Wow!

I agree 100% Values and MOds have WAY better QS and way more reasonable priced breakfast choices..

I am sure the logic is.. if you want a huge, hot breakfast you can stop by Cape May, or Chef Mickey... (In reality 10$ QS is not 45$ TS .. and 10 mins is not 1 hour.. )

We either do the DDP or we skip it completely when staying at BC or SSR. ( or split stay and do for 1/2).

If we skip DDP we sometimes eat off site, as it is more reasonable $$.

When have taken a walk to DTD from SSR, and the boat for dinner to POR pasta bar, and been thrilled! ( or just drove).

I am so happy I found this thread. I thought I was alone. I never liked the QS food we have eaten. After a couple of bad trips we started getting groceries for the room. I don't like to cook on vacation, but we feel that this is a way better option for us and it saves a ton of $$$.

Am I the only one who understands that DVC is a TIMESHARE, and as such provides us with full kitchens for our "home away from home" stays? Isn't that what a timeshare is all about? I see no reason for DVC to spend money on food service when we all have full kitchens.

We always eat breakfast in our villa. For us, it's one of the perks of having the kitchen. Granted, we are not big breakfast eaters. Give us an english muffin, some cereal or a muffin and we are good.

We don't cook on vacation. So we use the QS & TS restaurants at the parks and resorts. It's important for us to have them even at DVC resorts!

However, if we want QS, we go to AoA, POFQ, or the Poly. SSR has a good QS too. But the other DVC resorts leave much to be desired.

We stayed at AoA last year, 2 added days to our WLV stay, and were blown away by the QS there! This year I added 2 days to our trip (we will also be at BLT) so we can stay there again!

I think Artist Palette at SSR is pretty good. But I'll eat anything.....

So that would explain the bad options at the HOTELS associated with the resorts????

They don't have full kitchens do they?

I see a lot of reasons for Disney to up their game in hotel management. But as long as people keep playing top dollar for a subpar hotel I see why they won't

with the exception of SSR and OKW, the rest of the DVC resotrts share space with disney's deluxe resorts. and the quick service is sub par. for people paying top money t stay there.

and not all DVC rooms have a full kitchen the studios only have a kitchenette.

We rarely eat QS. We're on vacation and taking everything slowly and enjoy sitting down for TS.

Thus, for use, we enjoy dining at the casual and signature TS restaurants and we have a great selection where we stay.

I guess we're just not in a hurry to russ off to a park and want a more enjoyable experience.

I keep wanting to try AoA and hopefully we get our chance on our next trip. A bit of a pain since we won't have a car but reading the reviews maybe we can make it work. Luckily we are at Kidani and they have a few items we like to get us by the few times we eat at the Mara.
