Please say it isn't so! I just read on a Travelocity review that RPR charges about $10/day for Internet access. I'm pretty surprised. We've been staying at a lot of hotels this winter, for hockey tournaments. In every rinky-dink hotel we've stayed at in Minnesota we've gotten free wireless internet. Now we're paying $$$ for a room at a Universal hotel and they don't have it? :confused3 Come on! Well, I guess you can forget about live updates from me while I'm on vacation! :) Yeah, even though I'm not a "regular" here (yet), I probably would have done it. I've got to share my excitement with somebody!

Yup. That seems to be the norm with vacation resorts. I don't know why the cheaper brands of hotels can offer it and the more expensive won't but that seems to be the case.

I think there is wireless in common areas though if you want to bring your laptop down to the lobby but you still have to pay for it. There is free internet in club.

$9.95 per day charged to your room plus they add taxes.

There is (at least at HRH) wireless internet in lobby and in club room but only if you are a paying customer with and internet contract. My guess is it uses the MAC address of your laptop. Internet service is contracted by Wayport and $9.95 is their going daily rate.

This also happens at Disney as I found out June 2006 at AKL.

I will change it to I was already a internet customer so I really cant attest that wireless internet in lobby and/or club rooms are free or not.

disney and universal hotels charge for internet usage because they can....and know people will pay for it.

check out the start hours for internet usage at universal.
i think it is a different start time than midnight that disney uses.

I think it is 24 hours from when you purchase it? I could be wrong but we bought it for 24 hours at the end of our trip (on a Sunday to adjust our Fantasy Football Lineup :rolleyes1 )

Yes, RPR charges abt $10 per 24 hour period. We had it the week we were there, with our wireless laptop. The speed was really fast.

If you stay Club Level, there is a computer in the lounge you can use. Thought, the DIS is blocked. (I tried several times in the lounge, but got it fine:thumbsup2 on our laptop.)

somebody posted on another thread that their charge started at 3:30 in the afternoon. maybe that is when they checked in and they paid for it???

be sure to get the time period your internet charges begin if you decide to use it.
disney always starts their internet charges at midnight.
