Yep, I'm really glad they tell you the number of points you would be using now as it saves time to look it up ourselves. As far as the email telling you when something opens up, I am just speculating with the wait list system member services has in place, that maybe they don't want to give an even greater advantage to those who find availability online vs. those those who have been on a wait list for months and hope to get availability that way. A lot of us do use both methods, though, to try and get availability by wait listing and also searching online. If they were to fill wait lists instantly when cancellations go back into the system, this would alleviate the problem of online searchers having an advantage over the wait list. I'm not tech savvy enough to know if this is possible or feasible, though.
