ok..sorry for the dumb quote,,at least i THINK that was what she said,,ok anyway,We are thinking about staying at POFQ,and from all the great info I get here,(and other boards, sorry),passporter, etc and so on,,I have some room requests,,now how do I say this without sounding tacky?uuhmmm,,,first,,how many requests are too many..2,13,30,9000000? AND IF i make room requests,,will that put meout of running for an free uprgrade either offfered by Disney or if i ask when I get there?we have always stayed offsite sooo,,and I am JUST AWFUL about asking once i get there,,,i will be all shy and feel way too embarrased to ask for a free upgrade prolly.I hope I made sense,Thanks for reading,,,,

I think the only upgrades possible at POFQ are waterview or guaranteed king. I guess a corner waterview king room would be the great jackpot! :rotfl: They will only give you a king if there are two people in your party (and an infant in a crib, I guess).

If you are truly interested in waterview or a king, I would just spring for it up front. It doesn't cost that much more. I am way too embarrassed to ask for upgrades in person myself.

I would be more concerned about building location - though I hear, no experience yet, I am planning my own POFQ trip - that it isn't much of an issue at this particular resort or which floor, or corner room.

I try to keep my requests, after non-smoking, short and concise and I call them in about a month before we leave. I do not hound the room assigners shortly before the trip by fax, phone or email. I haven't called with my requests for this trip yet, since I am still researching what I want exactly (and can't figure out which buildings are non-smoking since the renovations). However, when I've stayed at other places - I've just requested "otter pond view" at WL with my woodsview room and got it (and a beautiful view of the castle), at FW cabins asked to be "near bus stop" and got a wonderful cabin just a short walk to the bus, no special request when I booked AKL parking lot view and got upgraded to savannah, requested "epcot view" at Dolphin and got it ... so far, (knock on wood), short and sweet has worked for me.

Does that help at all? Good luck!

If you call the number for the resort more than likely you are getting a call center and not the resort directly.

If you have any requests call reservations and have your requests added to your reservation.

Personally I wouldn't ask for too many requests and then when you get there ask if there are any upgrades available. I know when I ask when I am standing in front of a CM they get a gleam in their eyes and go to work finding a great location. I have done well every time I did it if you let them sprinkle a little magic on your stay.

Most rooms are non smoking so in my eyes that really isn't a request. If you get too specific then chances are you won't get anything.

yeah,,,i am just a bit leary of asking for too much.I already have to request a smoking room(DH..not me)..so that is one already.I would actually PAY for the water, riverview,,whatever it is called IF I REALLY WANT it.BUT ao lot of the books get into buildings, sections etc.ANd that is what i want to request but feel weird in doing so .I dont wnat them to think i am some prisssy lil diva ya know?Plus I have found out that just by being a nice person, and not asking for the freakin' world...somtimes pixie dust just comes your way.UGHHHH,,sooo indecisive,,lol.well..thanks guys,,,,

I don't really have any resort help for you, but yes, that's what the Wicked Witch of the West says... thanks for the chuckle! I use that line myself quite frequently. :earboy2:

To keep this on topic though, I think that if you only make 1 or 2 requests, and/or ask if any upgrades are available at check-in, they won't think you're being a diva or anything. I think they're used to people making requests, as long as they realize that are requests and are not guarantees.

You sound like you have a great attitide, I'm sure you'll have a great trip! :sunny:

I always ask for a top floor no matter where I'm staying (just can't have someone over me - too much of a light sleeper). SOMETIMES I will ask for a particular building, but usually not. It's fun to be surprised at check-in! Plus, the CM's are very helpful - there's been 2 times that I can remember that I was assigned a room in a remote part of the resort and I just asked politely if there were any other rooms available and would be willing to wait if it were not ready. I've never had anyone say NO you HAVE to take this room!

Actually, I do remember that happening now that I'm thinking about it. One trip my DH and I checked into the Yacht Club at around noon and our room was not ready. I asked them if it were possible then to move to a different room that was ready since I wanted to be able to unpack and freshen up before hitting the parks. She kept insisting "no, you WANT this room - it's worth the wait!!" She wouldn't give me another room! So we waited and waited, but it was SO worth it!! Beautiful view of the pool and Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk across the water.....
