These Olympics are Killing Me!

I can't even stay up to watch it or else I'd be a mess at work. Some days I get up at 3:45AM! Even on days where I don't have to be up until 6AM, I still can't watch it all. And the only stuff I saw they showed during the day was curling.... :sad2:

Okay, the only thing I took away from your post was that you normally get 9 hours of sleep a night! Really?! I don't know how my body would function with 9 hours. I normally clock 5 hours and Monday night got 3.5 (not by choice).

So, back to your question. No, I do not have Olympic induced insomnia.

I also require 9 hours of sleep per night. Believe me, I envy those who can get by on less. Seven is the absolute minimum I need to function. Less than that, and I will fall asleep while doing important things. :rolleyes1

I can't imagine only getting 5; I'd be completely useless and have a killer headache to boot.

My problem is that DD13 is VERY into the Olympics this year, and wants to stay up to see the end, and she's a long sleeper like me. Younger DD does fine with 7-8 hours, but DD13 needs 9-10. We normally have her in bed by 10, but she's been staying up this week until 11:30.

(yes, I know we are the parents and we could MAKE her go to bed, but it's only only every 4 years, and it IS pretty darn cool, so we're choosing to allow her to stay up).

It's just not the same as live when it's sports.

But it's not live sports. It seems like all the Olympic stuff I see is delayed from earlier in the day.

I've been DVRing the Olympics because such a tiny percentage is actually competition. There are hours of commercials, interview after interview, and pointless background segments. Even during the competitions, I don't always want to watch a complete replay of the event I just saw. I don't want to sit and wait between competitors. With a DVR, I can see all of the action I want for a whole day of Olympics in an hour or two rather than twelve.

So the Olympics have been on every night until midnight and I love the Winter Olympics, especially figure skating. I know I could go to bed at my regular time, but it's just too tempting to stay up late and watch the action. It's no fun to record it and watch it the next day because by then you already know the results.

I record every night and watch the next morning, simply because there are other regular shows we watch too and DH doesn't want to watch The Olympics every night.

I was extremely upset during the men's figure skating finals, watching happily and just as Plushenko starts skating the recording stopped!! I never got to see his program, nor the results. I didn't even think about it going overtime. :( I did know the results as I heard it on the news that morning, but was really enjoying watching the men skate and just hate that I missed the ending. :(
