You don't have to agree with homosexuality or participate in it, but if you can't even handle your server possibly being gay (and you DON'T know for sure that he was), then I really don't see how you even manage to participate in the real world. What happens if one of your children turns out to be gay? Would you send him back, ask for a different one? Yikes.

You need to turn in your research to the scientific community. They will be very interested in your findings.

On what basis do you think that all homosexuals come from deviant families? Many homosexuals have a hard time coming out due to the fact they have parents like you and could not bear to be kicked out the family based on their sexuality. Most come from church going, middle America families. Explain Mary Cheney to me (Dick Cheney's daughter).

You're totally welcome to your beliefs. Hey, some people still believe that the world is flat. I'm sure you've done way more research than all of the scientists who have proven the opposite.

FWIW, about half of my gay friends have preachers/pastors/etc for parents... guess they just weren't nurturing and loving enough parents!

I'm guessing you avoid going to all of the shows at WDW?

but here goes.....I booked our rooms for the first week in June thinking that Gay Days would be over. Having never been at this time, I really wasn't concerned about bringing my children. I just read the comments on the 'trip planning' part of this site and was a little surprised. I am not trying to bash anyone here, but these comments are cause for concern for those with young children.

My first question is....when is this actually over? The website says June 4th, and since we will be arriving on the 4th, am I wrong to assume that we will miss the "activities" the author wrote about?

My second question is....is it really as bad as what he has written? Some of you may not have read this, but it is in the planning part of this site.

Any opinions would be welcome before I change my reservations!!!!

She has every right to be concerned. You may accept it, but it certainly doesnt mean others have to. I was in the parks during one of these "days" and saw a disgusting amount of PDA's from them. I have NO difficulty explaining to MY children about it......they know its wrong PERIOD!!! We were there a few weeks ago and had dinner in World Showcase, the waiter we had was clearly gay and i asked for a different server or seat....MY DECISION!!!! I was polite about it and was easily accomodated. Dont tell me i have to accept another persons chosen lifestyle!!! I know ill catch a little grief about this post....but i find it amusing, people like that are into freedom of expression and speech....unless you say somthing they dont agree with. Its not hate...its just what i belive!!!!

I never said that your were a bad parent. But I am saying that a parent like you-one who is so apparently vehemently anti-gay, would make it hard for a child to come out if they were gay.

I also feel that any kid would be glad to have me as a parent. One who tells the truth and brings them up right. I know enough to know that I don't have the definitive answer to most things.

Just out of curiosity, what environmental cues cause people to be gay? I am sure many of us would love to know, seeing as how you know the truth and all.

I dont need to explain anything to the slightly vocal minority, but since you ask about my "product of enviorment" statement....both the gays in my family were fine till late teens (one) and early 20;s (other) Both had a traumantic experience and both admit that is what caused it. I have also worked on countless television interview during the gay marrige debate here in Mass where MANY of them said the same thing. Of course the "liberal" producers of the show would not allow that to hit the air (funny how that works) So complain and do your name calling as much as you want, i DONT care, I believe what i believe and you cant change it.....this is a forum and you and i are doing what we are suppose to do here.

Just curious-why did you ask for a different server? Is it that your don't want your children to see someone who is "clearly gay" or that you don't want to interact with them, or what? When you asked to be moved did you give a reason, i.e., did you say it was because you did not want a "clearly gay" waiter? If you took one of your children to an emergency room and the doctor on duty was "clearly gay", would you refuse to allow the doctor to treat your child?

That was a tad bit harsh. I think the poster is under the impression that there will be more public displays of affection than anyone would want to see(straight or not) because the day actually celebrates people being in relationships. I guess it could be argued that there would be a lot of displays of affection on Valentine's Day as well, but I personally think it would be less because straight people can make out when ever the heck they want with out to much disaproval from others so it's just not that big a deal, gay people on the other hand might feel fear that some one would react in a negative way.

I personally have been in WDW on gay day and didn't notice anything except one couple holding hands. I was in AK though.

this post nearly had me in tears. everyone is somones child however old they maybe. would you want your child treated in this manner? i can't imagine how upset and hurt that waiter might have been,though i am sure he did not show it. its a pity someone didn't say take it or leave it as was said when a patient where i work said they did not want to be looked after by a gay nurse. the ward sister said he was a nurse end of story and that if they didn't like it they could find another ward! disney does'nt have such guts though

How about we go back to the original question?

First, if you have booked your vacation to start after the end of the "official" activities, you will miss most of the crowds. The crowds are really the worst part. Plan your park visits around the Gay Days itinerary so you will be visiting a less crowded park.

Second, I'm sure everyone on this board has seen totally unacceptable behavior from gays, straights, singles travelling alone, etc. Personally, I find anything beyond hand holding to be too much PDA by anyone in a public place. There's nothing worse than a couple teenagers (or sometimes the adults as well) performing a tonsillectomy with their tongues as you wait in line. There's a place for that and it's not in a theme park. I'm also sure that many times, things get blown out of proportion when we post on the boards. There are some good examples of that on the resort posts. In the times I've been to Disney over Gay Days, I've seen less PDA than I usually do. I really don't think the OP has anything to worry about, especially if they plan their days to avoid the worst crowds. For me, avoiding crowds at Disney is a number one priority!

Tolerance doesn't mean you have to agree with another person's point of view. You simply have to allow them to have their own point of view and to live their life as they see fit. After all, it is their life and not yours. Choose to live your life in the way that brings you the most happiness and allow others to do the same.

I live fairly close to the parks. Been to parks during gay days. I've completely avoided the park of the day to avoid crowds. If it hadn't been for these boards or the couple of billboards on the highway, I never would have known it was gay days. I never saw blatant pda. Red shirts never caught my attention either.
