These Kids Make Me Wish You Could Curse on the DISBoards (May '11 Trip) - DONE 9/14

More fabulous photopass pictures of the kids and the entire family.

Chef Mickeys looks like tons of fun, like it usually is.

Thanks for getting pix on Splash (since I haven't been on it in awhile :rolleyes1)

LOL - to your comment about the Hall of Presidents. I hope both Duffies and Emily made it through without getting too bored.

First, I cannot believe the "line jumper" story...unbelieveable what people will do. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

This would have been a great family shot if Dylan kept his eyes open.

And the requisite "magic shot":

Great picture!

I LOVE Pluto--he is so sweet!

This is a good picture of Dylan.

Aren't they cute in their pose?

AWESOME theming in this store, as far as I'm concerned!

This is a very nice picture of you and Kristin.

Comments in red above. We've not done Chef Mickey's for dinner since 2004; I'm thinking we need to go back so I can shop the shops at the CR, but I prefer breakfast over dinner.

Great and entertaining update, as always, Jon.

You have a seriously photgenic family!!! :) Great pics.

People keep telling me we need to go to Chef Mickey's. Yeah, some day. I think when we book at stay at Bay Lake Towers we will put it on our list.

How do you manage to keep Em from getting completely sunburned!!! She is so fair skinned. You must overload the sunscreen because she never looks burned in any pictures.

I will be going to Chef Mickey's in Sept. for diinner. This will be our first time there, I picked it for my GDs. They are not into the Pricesses. I see so many mixed reviews for this place. You give me some hope. :thumbsup2

Kristin certainly has lots of beads, wow! They look nice on her.

Emily is so darn cute, better be cleaning & learning how to use that shotgun!:lmao:

Crazy about your TR. I mean I am crazy about it, not that you are crazy...well maybe a little...but that is why I am crazy about it...the TR. Subscribing.

The kids are great camera fodor, the parents are flawed (my favorite kind), the storytelling is superb. "It is what it is."

The funny thing is we don't even go through one entire bottle of the new no-rub spray sunscreen for all 11 days, and all 4 of us use it!! We're in and out of different attractions so much that we never seem to get too much sun. The only day we really used sunscreen was our day at the pool. We all loaded it on, at least 2-3 times, and got more red that day then any of the others!!

My kids don't burn much because they are dark, but Monica and I get it good if we aren't careful and Mikey's girlfriend is a ginger and likely to burn badly if we aren't careful when we go. I think we should look into the spray on lotion. Much more hassle free and less chance of missing areas!!

We spent last Saturday on the beach in AC. Mina used nothing at all. Monica and I loaded up and all was good..... Except these little spots that lotion forgot! Ouch!! we are still paying for that!

Were it not for the characters, there'd be no reason to go there. The food's good, but not enough to stand on it's own without Mickey, et al. It is fun, though.

She got sooo many comments from CMs about them! She has so many, she needed to start a necklace because she ran out of room on her wrist :)

Emily actually has a bracelet, too

Welcome, and thanks! I agree with all of your assessments. Hope you enjoy the rest.

I tended to get red on the tops of my forearms because I was pushing the stroller :) Even though I'm the darkest in the family, I burn more easily, which I think is due to the BP meds.

We really didn't spray that much, though. I think you're inside enough at WDW that it's not really an issue.

Our pool day didn't end so well, but more on that later :(

The spray is great. I see people using it and still rubbing it in, but as long as it's the clear stuff, you don't have to. Just spray on and go. The kids aren't brave enough to take the spray directly to the face, though, so we do rub it in there.

You're so lucky someone retrieved Emily's shoe back then! My youngest dropped his Croc in a pond, too, but there was no one else around to retrieve it. I suppose I should have just jumped in after it, but it was a man-made pond and a long way down and I just wasn't sure whether or not I could climb back out.

Poor Dylan, having to go meet all the Princesses. I've made a mental note to not make my boys meet the Princesses at that age.

Hope you guys are having a great time at the OBX! Love it there!

I'm finally catching up and am glad to see I didn't miss too many days. Hope you had a great time at the Outer Banks. We love it there. Hope it wasn't too hot out there this week. Raleigh feels like an oven. I guess it's hot everywhere though and it's better to be hot at the beach. :)

Love the pictures from your day in the Magic Kingdom and Chef Mickey's. Dylan looks like he's having a good time despite the touring plan not going according to his plans. I can' wait to ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Moutain Railroad. It will be firsts for all of us. I took Emma when she was four and we had an unfortunate experience on Goofy's Barnstormer where I promised her it would not be that fast, but we sat in the last seat and it was the only time during the entire trip that she cried. After that, we had to stick to the tamer rides. She is not a daredevil at heart, but at 11, is ready to ride anything Disney can throw at her and I cannot wait. :woohoo:

Look forward to future updates.

Love the OBX, hope the sharks aren't close to where you are staying. Our last time there the beaches were closed due to sharks.

Eagerly awaiting an update.

I would say absolutely make them meet them :)

Nilla - are you on vacation? More please!

I need more disney pics!

Kristin, can you answer this for me? I don't have web access on my phone, but you can post from your iPod.

We are on vacation. We'll be home Sunday night - after a beautiful week here in the Outer Banks of N.C.. I'm sure he'll be back with more updates by Monday night.

Thanks! And here it is, Monday night. And I WILL be posting. I wanted to post them last night, but 2 hours of sleep the night before followed by a 9 hour drive tends to wear me out.

Hope you guys are having a great time at the OBX! Love it there!

It was great! Along with my parents, who also live in Bethlehem, we met my brother and his family from CA, my sister and her family from SC. Beautiful weather, though hot. Water remedies that, even if that water is in the high 50s most of the week

The only wild thing about Splash is that one big drop. BTMRR is a bit more crazy, but hopefully, she'll dig it!

Love the OBX, hope the sharks aren't close to where you are staying. Our last time there the beaches were closed due to sharks.

We didn't find out anything about the sharks until we got home! We saw a lot of dolphins, though. I like those better, too.

On to the updates!

We return to the Magic Kingdom from our character dinner at Chef Mickey's, which was immediately after our Mickey and Minne M&G, so what should we do? How about meet MORE characters! And guess what, Dylan? It's more Princesses!

But don't worry, man, we've got Fast Passes! FPs for character meetings...what a great idea! We talk at length with a woman in line who did NOT get FPs, and really is not happy with the wait. Dunno, it didn't seem THAT bad.

As we pass through the doors, a CM tells Emily that she likes her "bear". The CM with her says, "that's Duffy."

"Who's Duffy?"

"Who's Duffy?"

We're inside, and it's going to be blue, then yellow, then pink. It's sort of my "thang" anymore that I like looking to see if we've seen these EXACT characters elsewhere in the parks, and whadayaknow, it's Miley Cyrus as Aurora again! Cool!

Photo0210FourBySix.jpg

Whoa, slow down! We're not at pink yet. Reeeewiiiind...

And by the way, that picture spot looks like Epcot. A lot like Epcot. Are you trying to play us for idiots? That picture IS from Epcot! What are you trying to pull here???

...

Oh, crap. Sorry. I don't know how that pic got there. Let's start from the beginning, in the CORRECT park.

Photo0301FourBySix.jpg

Cindy was up first. The PP photographer got a kick out of me holding Duffy:

Photo0307FourBySix.jpg

Belle was next...

Photo0325FourBySix.jpg

Emily sort of digs it.

Photo0339FourBySix.jpg

And HERE is the picture I messed up before. Ladies and gentlemen, it's Hannah Montana...as Miley Cyrus...as Princess Aurora! Encore!

Photo0340FourBySix.jpg

Once outside, we headed over to Adventureland to hit up some, you know, attractions. They do have those here, y'know. It's not just characters.

Speaking of characters, if you're in the mood for something hilarious, do a Google image search on "Shijingshan Amusement Park". It's a blatant ripoff of the Magic Kingdom in China. I mean, they're not even remotely trying to be covert here. It's right in your face. And it's hilarious!

But enough about that. Let's ride some rides!

It's over to Adventureland, but the Jungle Cruise is (in my best Pee Wee Herman voice) closed! I'm not exactly sure what could possibly go down with that ride. It's a boat on a track. And some animatronic stuff moving in a circle. But I'll take their word for it.

The line for the Magic Carpets looks pretty short, so we hop on, grabbing some pics along the way:

IMG_5112.jpg

The camel on this ride nailed me this time. Square on. Ok, so maybe I positioned the carpet in a manner to increase the chances of this happening, but it still takes some luck.

Afterwards, we hit the restrooms, and naturally, the boys are done much sooner that the girls. I pass the time with a photo op:

IMG_5113.jpg

Speaking very briefly on that subject, if the line for the men's room is aroundt the building, but the line for the ladies' room is all but absent, you're probably at an Iron Maiden concert. Conversely, I went with Kristin to see New Kids on the Block a few years back, and there was exactly ONE men's room in the arena. All of the others had makeshift "ladies" signs outside of them. It was a crazy experience, I tell ya.

But back to the TR, Dylan sure loves his Duffy. I dug that crap, too as a kid, which is both promising and frigtening when considering how he will turn out.

JC is back up, and we ride it. Afterwards, Dylan wants to ride Splash Mountain one more time. Just one more time. We're not interested, since being wet at night at Disney is no fun. Maybe if I had one of those MEK brand Ponchos, but I'm out of luck there. He's really persistent about it, and a few other unfeasible ideas that elude me right now. Emily, on the other hand, is VERY miserable, which is understandable since she's basically sleepwalking at this point. Fortunately, we have the stroller, but she's still not happy. It's at this point that she usually wants a snack, but being too late for a snack, she's out of luck. And that's not fun for anyone.

As Dylan and Kristin argue as we walk toward the Haunted Mansion, I push Em in the stroller behind, and it's at this point that I get an idea.

"Kristin, I know what I'm going to call the Trip Report this year."

We ride the Haunted Mansion, which I really like at night, even though you're inside and compeletely enclosed. Just the approach is better. We whip through the complete lack of queue, pausing only momentarily to grab at the gimmicks along the way.

We ride, and it's decided that we've done enough for one day. Emily's whooped, and we're getting there, too. As we head toward Main Street, the "Magic, Memories, and You" show starts. I wasn't sure what to expect when I heard about this. Pictures of guests projected onto the castle? Uh, well, I guess if they showed us, it might be cool, but I really don't care otherwise. As long as it doesn't replace Wishes, I'm fine with it, but I don't know why Disney would waste it's time with something this ordinary.

But it's not ordinary. In fact, it's AWESOME. We have ZERO pictures of it, unfortunately, but I would actually recommend going into it blind if you haven't see it yet. It's really impressive. I'm sure you can find pics online, but at this point, I'm sure most of you out there have seen those.

Wishes is on deck, but Emily is DONE. I can't stand the possibility of missing Wishes when we're right here, but we really need to go. The show starts as we reach Town Square, and we decide to stick around. Not the best view for the fireworks, but it's still great, and we'll be seeing this from closer later in the week. Plus, we get a quick exit and an early bus. which at this point, is perfect.

Emily fell asleep on the bus ride back, and it was soon off to bed. Up next, it's back to Epcot for our third day of four at that park. Teppan Edo! Beverly! World Showcase! Attacking insects!

Wait, huh? What was that?

Oops; did I say too much? More to come in the days ahead!
