These Kids Make Me Wish You Could Curse on the DISBoards (May '11 Trip) - DONE 9/14

I would have been tempted to take those FPs and ride Soarin 2x. :rolleyes1

On our last trip we definitely didn't spend enough time at Epcot - just two evenings! - and we'll have to remedy that next time. Maybe a full day with Coral Reef for dinner is in order. I think your TR could be our blueprint. :thumbsup2

When she gets in character, Emily also develops the English accent, and starts every sentence with, "ohhh..."

Lol would love to see that!! :rotfl:

Great pics of the food from Coral Reef - lol at the story of the grandfather mistaking your son for his grandson!

Love the night time shots of CS.

My DD16 and I have been stalking your trip report. You have a funny writing style. However, I didn't read the current update with her until you got the pic issue resolved. I LOVE the pics on your report. Very funny. That one with Dylan on the ground had me wondering if he was looking at a bug, or throwing a tantrum. I could so see you snapping away... :lmao:

Thanks for sharing your family and your trip with us.:woohoo:

Captain Eo...clearly Lucas' best work. I saw the "original" but didn't see it again in May. I might have to put it on the list in Oct.

Jackson is my favorite action hero. He's equally cool in the old "Moonwalker" video game for Sega Genesis.

I would have been tempted to take those FPs and ride Soarin 2x. :rolleyes1

Soarin' is tough to ride twice in a row, IMO. Too long a wait, even with FPs. Ok, I'm spoiled :)

Great pics of the food from Coral Reef - lol at the story of the grandfather mistaking your son for his grandson!

Looking back, I could imagine someone handling that situation in a completely different way. And that would be bad.

My DD16 and I have been stalking your trip report. You have a funny writing style. However, I didn't read the current update with her until you got the pic issue resolved. I LOVE the pics on your report.

Thank you! Pic issue is resolved. Photobucket Pro has some other cool features, too, in addition to the "actually be able to see your pictures" feature that lured me in.

This will be our first year riding Mission Space and I am so excited about it.

Love the pictures of the Cornado. What always strikes me about the property is that whenever you see pictures of it on these boards, unless they are taken at the pool, you hardly ever see anyone else around.

Mission Space Green is a lot of fun, and Orange is just nuts. Dylan and I love it, but Kristin does not.

You're right about Coronado. Both years, it was booked to near capacity, and you hardly saw anyone around. I'll talk about this later in the TR :)

Jon, great updates. However, did Emily not eat at Coral Reef? ;)

She did, but I forget what she got! Her eating is such an afterthought...she basically grazes all day, but probably eats as much, if not more, than her brother.

In other news, I finally noticed the "multi quote" buttons here on the DIS. It only took two years!

More updates tonight, because I'm "in the zone" :)

The wake-up call comes, and we're up and out the door, on our way to Animal Kingdom. Actually, it was a bit more complicated than that, but no one wants to here me talk about ironing and shaving. So here we are, at Animal Kingdom.

Rope drop, no less. Our 3rd day in a park, and only our first rope drop. What is happening to us??

Mickey tells us to let the adventure begin, and we trust his leadership:

IMG_4428.jpg

We go immediately back to Expedition Everest, thankful that this park can be somewhat confusing if you don't know it. We get FPs, then check if Emily is tall enough to ride this year:

IMG_4432.jpg

She's in! And the standby line is still short, so we'll hit it right now! She's excited about this one, even though I'm a bit worried that she won't like riding backwards in the dark. Not worries for her, though:

IMG_4430.jpg

Dylan and I get the back, by accident, which is great because the back is awesome on this ride. I usually prefer the front to the back on any coaster, but on this one, it's close.

So up we go...and back we go...then down the hill, and we pull into the station. There was a yeti in there somewhere, too, though he's sort of shy at the end there.

The verdict? She LOVED it. Absolutely had a blast. And wants to ride again. Remember, we have FPs.

Dylan insisted we take his picture, too, so I'll post it:

IMG_4433.jpg

Wow! Not even 9:30, and we rode and got FPs for Everest. This is shaping up already to be another great day!

Congrats on learning how to use the "multi quote" button. :)

I just love the look on Emily's face getting ready to ride EE...pure excitement. And what really cute dimples.

After EE, we decided to go over to try to hit the Safari early. On the way, we ran into two new characters for us:

IMG_4439.jpg

I love seeing characters we've never met before! Good thing Kristin's autograph books have blank, non-specific pages in them, because these two were certainly NOT accounted for.

We continue on...whoa!

IMG_4444.jpg

Terk? Are you serious? Who are we going to see next, Flik?

IMG_4445.jpg

You're kidding. Flik? Really? I've gotta get in on this one:

IMG_4446.jpg

We take a moment from the Obscure Character Bonanza to get a picture of some tree...

IMG_4438.jpg

...then enter Kilimanjaro Safaris. The standby line is short enough (20 minutes), so we're riding. Are you ready for a ton of animal pics? Alright, then, here they come!

IMG_4454.jpg

Well, ok, that's just a sign. But these are not signs:

IMG_4455.jpg

IMG_4456.jpg

IMG_4457.jpg

IMG_4464.jpg

This one is apparently putting hay on his/her head to keep off the sun:

IMG_4471.jpg

You can't see these two, but it's a mom and a kid trunk wrestling. VERY cool!

IMG_4472.jpg

I like this one because it looks like the guy behind me is pointing out the next animal as a service to my readers. Thanks, man!

IMG_4486.jpg

And we actually saw a lion:

IMG_4489.jpg

And we saw this, too:

IMG_4494.jpg

But not in the Safari. Here's a closeup:

IMG_4486.jpg

Emily was supposed to be in that picture, but I don't know what happened. I never saw DeVine pose with people before, so that's interesting. Last year, I ran for my life as she nearly impaled me on one of her stilts. I would say she's becoming much more guest-friendly, wouldn't you?

We get what would have been an incredible shot, had Emily not insisted on holding her nose:

IMG_4493.jpg

Oh well, what can you do? Speaking of "what can you do", the kids are actually being relatively good today. Let's hope it keeps up.

We grab FPs for Kali River Rapids, partly because Dylan wants to ride and partly because it's stinkin' hot out. I wasn't impressed with that ride the only other time I rode it, but we'll see.

We go watch Flights of Wonder next, which we only saw for the first time last year. We love this show!

IMG_4501.jpg

IMG_4515.jpg

I got lucky with this shot:

IMG_4513.jpg

I love this one because on the right, you have an oblivious Kristin, while on the left, you have an attacking hawk:

IMG_4519.jpg

Both wife and bird survived.

The kids bang on some drums...

IMG_4534.jpg

...while I head over to get the stroller, which we left over by - HEY, Hidden Mickey!

IMG_4535.jpg

And a not-so-hidden photographer shadow! As I go get the stroller, I notice a teenage boy wearing a wool cap. It's 96 degrees on, better put on the ol' wool cap. Like Colin Farrell, are you thinkin' 'bout your sideburns?

Some more pics of that tree...

IMG_4537.jpg

IMG_4538.jpg

...and then it's off to lunch!

Great Updates! I love the Coral Reef, we went there our last night on our recent trip, we got lucky to be in that first level we had 2 of those half booths as there were 7 of us, we started out up on the 3rd level but they put us in a regular booth that would seat maybe 4-5 people, and most of us are Pooh sized, :scared1: yeah talk about tight, so we asked to go to another table, they had us go back out into the waiting area and ended up right in front

My brother and his family love Disney too and they go quite often, they really like all the different restaurants but they have to scrutinize the menus when they make ADR's, hoping they have pizza or flatbread on the menu-or a CS place nearby that does- because my Nephew (14) is REALLY picky! He does eat normal portion sizes but only eats pizza, bacon, occasional chicken nuggets, bread in any form and certain soups, (these are the only things I have ever seen him eat). He rarely eats anything else, we wonder how he is not malnourished but he is getting what he needs somehow. He has been like this since he was about 3-4 years old, my brother/SIL try to get him to eat different things but mostly have given up.

Man, now I am really excited for the AK. I just watched the video we have from our trip in 2002 when Emma was only 20 months old and we didn't even know yet that Henry was coming later that year (and yes, got all teary about where the time has gone...), but we haven't been back since then because our trips were always too short to fit it in. It's great you saw so many cool characters including DeVine. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the day.

Wow, you are rippin through this. I had to read like 3 updates. Gave up on even trying at work. Too much to comment on, although I will say:

1. Coral Reef looks pretty good and whenever I see a good review, I think it would be a good destination for an Epcot lunch.

2. First Rita on the menu...got it....check.

3. Woot to Emily for her first rides on MS and EE. I never noticed that Yeti foot marker before. Cute.

4. Awesome tree of life picture. Love the framing with the other foliage.

5. Two rides on EE, safari, a lion, the picture of the cool sunlight, and Devine....I would say you guys are really rockin' the world again on day 4!

6. Cool hawk picture

I upgraded to photobucket pro last year and I never have a single problem. Plus, I think of it as a hard drive back-up. It's worth the $ to me.

Great AK day!

Yay on Emily riding EE! Am glad she enjoyed it.

Also sounds like you had a great day of meeting characters.

Joining in! I love your style, very humorous! :thumbsup2

We were there part of the time you were, also at CSR. I have a TR going. ;)

All of your snake talk freaks me out although I have had a nasty animal encounter of my own at WDW. I once had a rat attempt to crawl up my leg at the Tomorrowland Terrace while waiting for Wishes! :scared1: I would probably faint if I snake attempted the same thing, luckily the only snakes I have seen are in exhibits.

Looking forward to more and I may just go back and read your report from last year since I am stuck at work all weekend and have lots of time on my hands. :thumbsup2

Animal Kingdom day sounds great so far. I didn't know DeVine ever posed for pictures, but that's pretty cool.

I love that picture of Emily and Dylan in the mist, even if Emily is holding her nose. :rotfl:

Loved the updates!! Great way to spend the afternoon relaxing and catching up!!

YAY for Emily riding those big rides! I did EE this morning and loved it!!!

I really need to eat over at Coral Reef!!

Can't wait for more!

Man, now I am really excited for the AK.

We never cared that much for AK until last year, which, possibly not coincidentally, was our first year there as just a foursome. We also discovered things like the Dig Site and Flights of Wonder, which are pretty much "can't miss" stops now. I really love AK now, and we even considered doing an extra 1/2 day there this year, but Downtown Disney won out. More on that day when we actually get to it.

Wow, you are rippin through this.

4. Awesome tree of life picture. Love the framing with the other foliage.

5. Two rides on EE, safari, a lion, the picture of the cool sunlight, and Devine....I would say you guys are really rockin' the world again on day 4!

Pic compliments from you mean a lot :)

Yes, I am ripping through this, it seems...but I just can't stop! It's so much fun reliving it.

We ARE really getting a lot done in this trip so far, aren't we? And after this day, we still have 7 more before we head home.

Yay on Emily riding EE! Am glad she enjoyed it.

I was surprised, but she did. I guess it is more like BTMRR (which she also loves) than it is like Space Mountain, so it might make sense.

We were there part of the time you were, also at CSR. I have a TR going. ;)

I'm following now :)

You saying you were at CSR when we were has me thinking I saw you guys, even though I may not have. Who knows - maybe you'll turn up on a pic later in this TR?

I didn't know DeVine ever posed for pictures, but that's pretty cool.

This year was the first I've seen it. Actually, last year was the first I even saw DeVine. I dunno - I kind of like her being more of an enigma and NOT posing, but whatever. She's still awesome.

I did EE this morning and loved it!!!

THIS morning? Really? JEALOUS

He has been like this since he was about 3-4 years old, my brother/SIL try to get him to eat different things but mostly have given up.

I was (from what I've heard) a decent eater, and I'll try just about anything now, but my brother was really picky. Kristin was apparently as bad as Dylan was. She didn't start eating crab until she got pregnant with Dylan Some girls crave a $2 ice cream, but not mine. Crab. Anyway, she's become more open as far as eating goes as the years have passed, so there may still be hope for the boy.

Congrats on learning how to use the "multi quote" button. :)

I just used it now! Hooray for efficiency!

I'm 50-50 on an update tonight, but it could happen. A few beers later should seal the deal on that. Plus, Kristin is demanding to see the gorilla pictures, even though she can just log onto our PC and see them :confused3

Thanks for all of the compliments, and thanks again for reading!

Great am at AK! I'm afraid the safari will never be the same for me after we did the trek last month. I better get used to it though because it's not like I'll be doing it (trek) any time soon.
Love the back seat on EE....you're right because I usually like the front but on this ride either is terrific. :thumbsup2
Great pictures in the bird show... Have never seen it but I'll do it one of these days :)

Hey Christine looks like you and I will have to find those Hello Kitty press on nails in October :rotfl2:

Tracy

I missed a whole set of AK updates.

Great animal photos.

You met two of my favs -- King Louie and Baloo. :goodvibes

Love the picture of Emily holding her nose.

We've never seen Flights of Wonder (or Finding Nemo for that matter).

I've yet to see the kids misbehave. :confused3

Great updates!

Did you really see davine? So cool. But you much elaborate on almost getting impaled. In case my DH starts being a PITA and she happens to be around. lol

Can't wait to hear more!
