RF - Congratulations! Glad to hear everything is falling into place!

Shelly - Is the appraiser there yet?

Jo - More trip report please! Unfortunately, there are no movie theaters around here that do that sort of thing for kids unless you are bringing a group. Sounds like a Midwest thing.

Lake - My wife wants to see Nia's movie too. She say MBFGW five times in the theater. She just loved that movie.

Hi Mari! Hi Tas! Hi NC!

Sea

Good Morning Sea!

I hope all is well in Sunny California today.
I hope your mom is doing well, and recovering nicely.:flower3:

Actually, we are having our "June gloom" weather right now. Fog and haze that lingers around until 10 or 11. Forecasts all this week are sunny with clouds, in the high 60's. Typical and mild weather for this time of year. I expect in about a week or two we should start seeing a full blown summer season arrive. :cool1:

Shelly....so how's the appraisal going?

Crossing my fingers for you on the offer for the lot as well.

Hey Mayers!!! Just spent the last hour or so catching up here. Everyone's been so busy! :)

Hey all - My mom had about 5.5 hour surgery yesterday. She is still in ICU and is resting comfortably. When they opened her up, the ovaries were OK, but the abdomen had been infected. They took out 75%, the 25% that is left cannot be operated on until she has chemo and they reduce the size of the tumors. Fortunately, the doctors have told us this type of cancer responds good to chemo and that they have seen many patients do quite well in the long run. She has fight ahead of her. Keep my dad in your prayers as well - this has hit him very hard.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers...it is working.

Sea :cool1:

The moms report:

MIL came home yesterday afternoon - she had a UTI so that was the cause of all the pain. Her appetite came back and she is eating quite well right now with no complaints. She has difficulty walking and getting around but hopefully her strength will come back soon.

My mom was moved out of ICU today to a regular room. Saw her yesterday and she looks pretty good. She is getting great awesome care at UCLA.

Sea

Prayers and Pixie Dust for your Mom & MIL that everything keeps getting better :grouphug:

We're all here for you if you need anything.

Great news on your MIL and mom Sea. That sucks about the UTI, but it sounds like they are both slowly but surely making some good progress. :cheer2:

Well, since I am completely disgusted with the Penguins at the moment :furious: and can't watch another moment of this pathetic excuse of a game.... I figured I would pop in with a house update.

We had the inspection today! It went really well - nothing major was found.:woohoo: The biggest things that we can see eventually being an issue is that the gas meter is inside the basement - Which only happens in older homes so that shows us that it has never been replaced. Our inspector suggested that we get the gas line protection and then whatever happens it will be covered. The water heater is at the end of it's life (13 years), but we know people to do the labor - so I'm not too worried about it. The bathtub needs re-caulked because there was some prior water damage, but it's mainly cosmetic damage at this point.

On the plus side - The roof is less than 10 years, the furnace, air conditioner, all the electrical, foundation, insulation, etc etc everything is in great condition and newer. So - it looks like the next step is talking to our lender and sealing the deal! :banana:We don't know about a closing date yet - but our realtor said that it could easily be on July 1st. :scared1: So, we have lots to get done before then!

CONGRATS!!!!! Glad that the bank approved you and gave you such a great deal. That's awesome for you RF!

Jo! I'm loving your DL TR, I'm so excited (and a wee bit jealous :) ) that you got to go there! Your story-telling is great and you've got so many pics so far! Can't wait for more.

NC - Happy Belated Anniversary to you and Mr. NC :)

Hi to Everyone else!!!! Hope summer's going good so far for everyone!

Been a busy past couple weeks here, finally starting to slow back down to 45-50 hours of work a week down from the 60-65 a couple weeks ago. Trying to spend as much time as possible enjoying the pool and relaxing when not working.

Has anyone else seen Up yet? I loved it so much, I actually saw it twice already. It was definitely not what I was expecting from the trailers, but it was such an amazing movie. I've never been so moved to tears by a movie as I was with it.

My CP best friend moved back here last week to do his Professional Internship as a manager at Fort Wilderness, so we've been hitting up the parks to get in some play time before he starts his new job. We went to Epcot last week and spent some time walking around the countries as well as hitting all the rides in Future World, except for Energy.

Going to try to get to Star Wars Weekends on either Friday or Saturday of this week, as well as go on a pin-trading and character pic mission.

Hi Sulley! You sure have been working like crazy!

Chloe and I went to see UP! on Sunday! I cried like a baby, and that was just during the first 5 minutes! It really was a good movie.

I wish I were at WDW right now!!! I miss it so much!

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

We wanted so badly to move away... we applied for so many jobs online, and faxing resumes and kept cold calling places just to get getting ignored. So I prayed for some direction. I said that if we found a house that we absolutely loved then we would stay. If we didn't - we would try to move and find jobs when we got there. Which was a crazy risk - but I was at that point.

Then a few days later we found this one! And it seems like (hopefully) the payments are low enough to allow us to keep going to WDW every year.... or year and a half  and still maintain some sort of a life. :cool1:

Shelly - Is the appraiser there yet?

Sea

Shelly....so how's the appraisal going?

Crossing my fingers for you on the offer for the lot as well.

The appraiser showed up at 1:30 for a 10:00 appointment. . . :confused3 Never offered up an explanation or apology. Good grief! She was here for a total of about 15-20 minutes. Hope the numbers come back where we need them to be! :wizard: And I just found out that the appraisal on the other house is tomorrow.

No word on our lot offer yet. . . . .

Hi Sulley - Yes, I saw UP and thought it was amazing. Great, great movie. Take some pictures at SWW...I would like to see that.

Shelly - It always amazes me how some "professionals" act so unprofessional. I hope you get the numbers you need to get.

It has been some crazy hours, but thankfully not as crazy as one of my roommate's. He works at Space with me and did 25 days straight, his weeks were 85, 88, and 76 1/2 hours. I know I'd go bananas if I did that.

The first time I saw it, I cried through prolly close to half of the movie, and you could here half of the theater sniffling as well. The second time, the theater had more kids, so I seemed to pick up more on the funny parts. I really kind of want to go see it again. I saw people come through with Dug shirts on this past weekend which just made me smile.

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

It's amazing how things seem to work out the way they're supposed to. The past year and a half for me has shown me that while things don't necessarily work out on your timetable or the way that you originally think they should, they almost always come out the way they're supposed to.

I will definitely take my camera along with me for SWW. I'm excited to check it out since I didn't last year :)

So business is picking up - seen a big turnaround in my sales. Just landed two major government contracts, one of them is for two years! Just got the two year contract today! I have been pursuing government work for about 6 months - it is very tedious paperwork to say the least, but I am starting to see some great response and opportunities that lie ahead. Couldn't come at a better time. :cool1:

Nice to hear some positive job market news.:woohoo:

Afternoon ladies and gentleman!:goodvibes

Sea- what fabulous news on the contracts:goodvibes! I'm so happy for you- this economy *seems* to be pushing up a wee smidge.:thumbsup2

RF- omgosh--I'm so happy you got a great interest rate and everything is coming together for your new house. It seems like God always alwasy has the answer to our needs. He's just waiting on us to ask.:goodvibes Happy for you.

Hi Sulley! Sounds like WDW has been super busy for you guys! Have you ever been to DL?? Glad you're enjoying my TR... I love to tell a good story.:)

Lake, Shelly, RF-- you guys are going to have so much fun. We all want to see pics!

NC-- how's summer? Your kids heading this way anytime soon for camp?

Trix-- hope your vacation is coming along okay.

Mari-- did you get the Birthday Girl's stuff straight?

So-- funny story about today's movie.
I get there, stand in line to get tix- they have one register open- for 15 minutes.
Get inside, get into the popcporn line- two lines open, but good grief Charlie Brown, I think they took lessons from the local McDonalds on how to serve your customers with a smile and a side of slowness.
After we'd been in THAT line for 20 minutes, it's 10 am and time for the movie to start- I order and off we go with goodies.
The theater hadn't changed the movie titles above the door of each theater from the night before- so they'd just said "You'll be in theater 12 on the left."

So we're walking down the hall behind a group of 3 moms and about 15 kids with those three Moms and I hear one of the Moms say "O-Kaaaaay." I look up and the title above theater #12 simply said..... "To Hell"- and all the kids were pouring in and yelling and screaming from inside.

I started laughing and the Mom in front of me started giggling and said "I guess they've had experience with this before."

:lmao:
I guess the theater is also used for the new movie "drag me to Hell", but seriously??????

It was perfect.

Desperaux was cute- Belle liked it, Drew, not so much.

Hope everyone's afternoon is going good.

Jo

LOL! I knew Jo would have a funny story to tell us about today's experiences. :rotfl2:

Disneyland, continued...

So we head towards New Orleans Square (NOS) and take a quick peek into the queue for POTC-
DSC03435.jpg

And veer off down the street behind it for a closer look.
POTC is the building all the way to the left- the one with the flag flying on the cupola.

DSC03439.jpg

So much of this area reminded me of Charleston. So beautiful...
DSC03440.jpg

Blue Bayou--- I remembered that Sea said this was the restaurant inside of POTC. So we were able to get Priority seating for 6 pm that night...
DSC03443.jpg

And... what's this?? A very nondescript door right next to Blue Bayou!!... CLUB 33!!!!

More NOS-

Train stop to the left-

Rafts to Tom Sawyer island on the right--

And on to The Haunted Mansion
DSC03453.jpg

DSC03454.jpg

Followed next by Splash-
you can see just how close these two rides are-- the urn on the left hand side of the picture is part of the Haunted Mansion!!
DSC03455.jpg

It looks smaller than WDW's when you're standing in front of it--
DSC03456.jpg

and they load people front to back instead of side by side--
DSC03460.jpg

Followed by- across from Splash- this cute little section like a harbor town- with a sailing ship- beautiful--

DSC03463.jpg

Past Splash, where in WDW you'd have BTMRR, there is a little section called Critter Country, that houses Pooh Bear and friends.

We saved that section for another time, but here's the walkway to it- that building is a restaurant but we didn't eat there- it was always busy!
DSC03458.jpg

Back to the wide walkway that goes towards Frontierland...
DSC03465.jpg

Up next....
Did you bring your ten gallon hat?? We're goin huntin!! Frontierland's next!
