We then headed back over to the Venetian because Lena wanted to use the WiFi and check her email and stuff. I played some more VP, but lost about $40. So I just walked around a bit. We then headed over to In n' Out Burger because we were getting hungry - that was around 4:30 pm then after that we decided to visit The Orleans hotel and see what we could find to do. This place has 70 bowling lanes! We were too tired for bowling, so back to the casino. Lena played the 1 cent Munsters slot machine and won, I played VP and got ahead $50 so we were happy about that.

Time for our show - The Lion King!!! Headed out to Mandalay Bay and changed our clothes. Here we are at the theater...

This is an amazing production! You have to go and see this. (Sorry there is no pictures or video, not allowed.) The costumes, the music, the acting was superb. I highly recommend this. You won't be disappointed!

Well, after the show, we were exhausted from running all over town and stuff and so we headed back to our hotel at stateline. What a great day!
We had so much fun!

Day 3

Woke up around 8:30 a.m. and talked about how much fun we had and decided to go back to Vegas and do some more outlet shopping and poke around the Strip some more.

First stop...Jean, NV. This is a one casino town, the Gold Strike, right next to I-15 highway.
IMG_0918.jpg

First deal of the day - can we find a cheap breakfast? NY steak & eggs, $4.99!!!
IMG_0919.jpg

Not bad and my wife like the coffee too. So it gets a thumbs up for cheap and good tasting breakfast.

Next stop...Outdoor World!

Going to eat here for dinner tonight!

While Lena was surfing the internet, I searched to find a decent video poker machine to play. Found a pay table I liked and started playing. I was doing Ok, ahead by $15 then I hit 4 aces plus a kicker. $100! Cashed out! So glad I got my money back and then some!

We packed up the computer and headed over to Monte Carlo to park and visit the Coke and M&M stores.

We could see the Bellagio fountain show. :D I highly recommend this place. It was very busy, but still it was nice and romantic.

After dinner we headed over to watch the Bellagio fountain show. Took this shot on the walkway over the Strip.

The Bellagio fountains perform every 15 minutes. Here are two shows for you and a shout out to my Mayers. I had not forgotten about you!

IMG_1159.jpg

Well, we were exhausted after the fountain show, so we headed back to our hotel. I decided to play some more video poker at our casino. Too make a long story short (I got back to the room at 2:25 am, I made another $175.00. I went to bed smiling knowing that the casinos paid for our trip!

Woke up the next day, ate the coffee shop, picked up some stuff for the boys at the outlet and hit the road around 11 am. Stopped at Barstow for lunch and gas and got home at 4:00 p.m.

It was so fun to just getaway with my wife and not have the boys always around asking us for stuff and feeding them. LOL!

And oh yea...we talked about going to WDW soon...like this summer...:scared1:...more on this later!

Thanks for reading my report!

Sea :cool1:

Oh gosh, I forgot to mention the earthquake.

So we are about 45 minutes away to stateline in Death Valley desert and my son calls us and says there has been an earthquake and it shook the house for like minute!

We turn on the radio and found out it was in Mexicali, which is like 450 miles south of us. Really far away, but since the quake was shallow and strong, the shock waves were so intense they reached all the way to LA causing elevators to stop and get stuck in between floors. DL shut down their rides for about an hour or so to inspect everything (a normal procedure). Thankfully there wasn't any damage to our home. And we didn't feel it at all in the car. We were very fortunate and grateful.

Thanks for checking up on us!

Hope everyone had a good Easter!:goodvibes

Sea------ I hope you guys didn't head South for your minivacation------ check in and let us know everything is okay with you when you can.

Kim, that was a fantastic slide show!!! The pic with your daughter and Belle was precious. Thanks for sharing. I hope you do more of these! - Sea

Howdy MAYers!

I made my last post on my TR :sad2: and even got a little fancy with it. I'm not as good as Sea or Shelly when it comes to making slideshows but I gave it my best!

WOW Lake! What a busy and fun summer you have planned! I hope it all comes together and you have great times!

I have a lot of plans for this summer Sea. The kids get out of school very late this year, the 29th I think. But the day they finish we are driving to the cottage that very night. We will spend Canada Day up there, with fireworks over the lake and spending 5 days with my family!

In July we have a trip to Chicago planned, as Jason will be there for work one week, so the kids and I might as well join him, and stay with him in a hotel work in paying for.:woohoo:

We hope to maybe join him again in August as well.

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to NYC this summer as well. She is the one I went to the U2 concert with. Neither of us have been, and are both really wanting to see a show on broadway. Our list of things to see and do is getting LONGGGGGG! But we are really happy and excited abaout it.

In August I also have my 20th reunion for the summer I worked as an Ontraio Junior Forest Ranger. It has been 20 year since I have seen all the girls from my camp, and I am looking forward to seeing them all again. We are doing a weekend at a winery, which is also a hotel, in the niagara region. (kind of like Napa.)

Then ther are all the activities I have planned for the kids... soccer, and day camp at a historical park. Visiting grammy and grampy and probably a late August trip back to the cottage. And visiting my brother when my new niece or nephew is born.

Already jam packed....but I know I'll find lots of other things to still do.
Jason probably has us signed up for a golf tournament here and there as well.

Hope everyone had a very happy easter! Off to take the kids to school!

Thank you Kim! I hope you enjoy the new reports and pics I posted up too.

I think you are going to enjoy this book. I read it about a six weeks ago and really gave a lot of insight into WD and how he was driven. He was a hard worker and he worked his employees to death. In many ways, I think if he had not pushed and pushed, he would have had the breakthroughs in such areas as being the first to put soundtracks into animated movies, unique theme park ride vehicles, and audio animitronics.

I would be interested in your thoughts about the book after you finish it.

A special Disney savings account - great idea!

Unfortunately, I didn't win any jackpots, so no trips for you all this time around. Maybe if I buy a state lottery ticket tomorrow I will be lucky. Cross your fingers! :rotfl:

Sea

Welcome back Sea!!! You and the Mrs. look like you had a fantabulous time in Las Vegas! Hopefully you hit it big and are treating all of us to a trip to Disney.

I've had a busy day today. I took the kids to their yearly doctor appointments and then to the book store to let them spend their gift cards from their birthdays. I found a book about Walt (The Triumph Of The American Imagination by Neal Gabler) and can't wait to read it! Then we headed to the bank where I opened a special savings account to start our Disney fund!!! :woohoo: After that we headed to the playground for a little picnic lunch by the water. I tell ya, I could get used to this spring break stuff. I miss the days of being a stay at home mom and doing as we please. Tomorrow it's back to the grind after 4 days off:sad2:.

Awesome Vegas Report Sea!

We saw the Lion King in Toronto a few years ago..9 maybe...wow time has flown. It is a fantastic show and like SEA I highly recommend it.

We were in Vegas in 2008, and stayed at the New York New York.
You captured some great photos of everything, especially the inside of the Bellagio. It is just gorgeous. I loved the spring decorations. The fall one's were just as beautiful.

...

:( I haven't been to WDW since 2007..and I am sad to say that we do not have a trip planned back there. So many other trips and family obligations are keeping me away. :( The only reason that I return to the DIS at all is for my MAYERS. Thanks for always being here.

:)

I've got you beat Sea- Today was my only day of working this week! Sometimes it's wonderful having teacher's kids. Not so wonderful in summer when I take a hit to the wallet. :sad2:

Thank you Kim! I hope you enjoy the new reports and pics I posted up too.

Sea

They're crossed! I haven't started the book yet but am hoping to this weekend!

Sea - Thanks for the Vegas report!!! That video was awesome - I love the dancing fountains! :cool1:

I never really wanted to go to Vegas because I always had the impression that it was *just* gambling (Which I am not big on) .... and ahem... ummm, "ladies" trying to make a living. :lmao: :rotfl:

But I know better now, and I would love to go!!!

Good Morning Mayers!

Thank you RF - nowadays LV is more about shopping (I think we spent about 6 hours just doing that at the outlets), shows (magic, comedy, tributes, Broadway, Cirque du Soleil, etc) food, (every famous chef has at least 2 or 3 restaurants here) relaxation (spas, pools, etc.). Hoover dam is near by and you can take a helicopter tour over to the Grand Canyon and the LV Strip. So much to do, it would take days to write about it. I recommend taking a weekend there, you will have a lot of fun! :cool1:
