Yay- back from the Dr.
No Swine for Belle either. In fact- she is acting really good, aside from a cough.
So--- tomorrow, she is out the door to school.
Drew- don't know. He is not feeling great but doing better. We'll make a decision tomorrow concerning him.
RF- I think you'd be miserable at the Grand in a room with other peeps. I mean- it IS sort of a romantic place... and um... well.......... hum.
I'll just say that while the room is bigger than what you have at WDW-- it isn't THAT much bigger.
Hi ya Sea! Okay- my thoughts on ABD. I got a booklet from them, thinking I'd look into the European vacations. I think they look really neat. I'm sure it would be a trip of a lifetime b/c they take you to see and do things a normal tourist might not do. The downside is that you're in a group of people-- but that might not be a negative for some. Mark is a massive introvert, so that keeps us from doing something like that. I'm an extreme extrovert, so I'd be okay with it.
I think you could probably get a better deal going and soing some things on your own- but you're paying for the convenience of having soemone lead you and make ressies for everything for you. Oh and you're paying for the Disney name, of course.

Jo, I think I would like to try one of the tours with ABD somewhere exotic like Africa. Places like that you just don't walk off a plane and say "well, let's figure out what to do now". I wouldn't want to be on a tour group through Europe or Australia - I wouldn't like it. But I think it wise, at least the first time to the place, to be part of tour group that are more rural or exotic.
Another question for the board - DVC - anyone looked into it - your thoughts? (We may of talk about this before, I can't remember - been a bit brain dead lately.)

Sea- agree on hte tour thing in Africa or somewhere like that. Have you ordered a booklet? It's pretty neat. For Europe- i'd do it myself -- but other places, absolutely a tour is good.
DVC-I have mixed feelings. Most of my neighbors own and are very happy with it. They start around $20K, but I know that there are resale places that right now have a lot of them b/c of the economy and people having to sell.
I am not sure that, for me, DVC is worth it. I'm trying to ride the Disney train as long as possible and I have no clue how much longer that is going to be okay. I'm sure at one point, Mark will say no more and that will be that. My FIL- who owns two time shres that are not disney related- will tell you that they are a rip off of grand proportions. He bought into his b/c at the time he bought them, it was in the eighties and they were offering a two for one deal on this timeshare at a ski lodge somewhere in Colorado. I think they paid in the neighborhood of $2500 back then for both of them. They haven't used their two weeks in three years, and are still paying their yearly dues on them.
With all of the deals that Disney is offering these days, I think you can get a really good vacation without buying DVC. Like me looking into the Poly for May. I always find it crazy when DVC owners say they are going on vacation and they say "My lodging is free"- but they don't take into account that they financed it and are paying on it monthly. Plus they have yearly dues that they have to pay. (?$600 a year or so?) And then, they pay for the dining plan and the park tickets aren't included.
I guess if I knew that every single year, I'd go to a DVC place, and if I had the cash (Would never finance it) I would probably think hard about it.
Just my thoughts.

Yea, I would never finance the DVC either. But what gets me are the annual fees. Then on the other hand, I could be on the resell side, but less years. But, then I am 48 and my kids are older - would it be still worth it? Would we always want to go to WDW or some other Disney property all the time for our vacations? Right now, my wife loves crusies and she wants to do a couple of ones, but they aren't all Disney. 50 years is a long time to commit - what kind of shape will those properties be in 15 years? 25 years? 35 years? Lots to think about...when it comes to DVC.
No I haven't take the tour yet, but they just finished the Grand Californian Villas and we are probably going to check them out in a couple of weeks to hear their pitch.

RF, I don't remember all of your Hawaii details...is there no way you could go and stay in a less luxurious -- and therefore less expensive -- hotel? Or rent a condo so you could prepare at least some of your own meals (a condo might be just as expensive or more, I dunno 
)? I know you would be going with friends, so you may not have a lot of say-so over where you stay. It's wonderful to go to a lovely hotel and be pampered and catered to, but I know that red carpet treatment is usually out of my price range comfort zone 
Still, we have managed to travel quite a bit and see a lot of cool places. After reading some of the prices Jo talked about, I think I'd have a really hard time relaxing and enjoying myself -- I do accounting for a living 
, and I think the cost adding up in my head would make me go nuts 
I think ABD is a neat idea, have only read a little about it and seen some of the promo stuff on the TV's at Disney hotels. But I'd be really nervous about the cost. I've heard that Disney cruises are expensive compared to similar cruises on other lines. I'm sure they would really show you a great time, though.
The only time I've been to Europe was in 2005, to Ireland. I am really, really glad we went with a guided tour group. Driving there would have been a nightmare, especially in the cities because it's all on the left side of the road -- very, very confusing in intersections. And we probably would have gotten lost meandering on country roads between places like Sneem and Cobh and Kilarney. We got to see SO much more than if we'd gone on our own -- in one week we saw Dublin, Abbey Tavern, The Book of Kells, the Jameson distillery and the Guinness brewery, Cobh, Kilarney, the Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle (and YES I HUNG UPSIDE DOWN BACKWARDS OVER A THREE STORY DROP DOWN TO A STONE COURTYARD AND KISSED THE STONE, I don't care how many germs were on it!
), Kinsale, Shannon, Tralee, saw a fabulous dinner show at Bunratty Castle, drank poitín (Irish moonshine), and did so much more than I can even remember...possibly because of the poitín...we might have been kidnapped by leprechauns that day for all I remember... We had a wonderful bus driver/guide named Dominic who was funny, very well read, knew tons about the history and politics of Ireland, and he was fluent in Gaelic, which came in handy. We never would have seen or done nearly as many things if we hadn't done a guided tour. If I get a chance to go back, I'd like to do a different guided tour for one week, then explore on my own for another week. That trip was a lot of fun.

IDK KB..... We haven't really thought much about booking elsewhere. I don't really know how to find other places. The only reason that we were going to do it this way was because we got a great deal from Rachel's brother. I do want to go to Hawaii. Probably more than anywhere else, but it makes me really nervous. We just bought the house. We really don't make a lot of money.
I still have a lot to think about. We'll see what happens. They aren't booking until January. By then - I may be like 'no, things were too hard to catch up on after Christmas' or 'Heck yes I want to go!!'
You just never know with us.

Seriously? Neither of my Pittsburgh MAYer girls went to see my friend at Ross Park Mall the other day???
He was there for the grand opening of the new GNC LiveWell store. He was there representing PureSport, his post-workout recovery drink of choice.

Unfortunately, I didn't know about it until after the fact. 
Otherwise I would have PAID you to go there and get me an autograph, seeing as I failed so stinkin' miserably in Indy this summer. 
But I guess, given the choice of an autograph and NOT seeing him, or no autograph but seeing him swim in six races, having him walk right past me and being able to get some awesome pics of him...I'd choose to see him in person.
With that said, though, if any of you ever have the chance to get an autograph, please think of me!

My kids love Pizza Hut too. I like it, but about once every 6 months or so is enough for me. Too greasy or something.

Oh and it has brownies & cinnamon rolls on the buffet. Then he wants to go to the Game Stop and spend some of his birthday money!Then Sunday we will hope that this rain will stop so we can enjoy the soccer games. And maybe DS10 can teach his coach another lesson or two!

You know how, as you're walking out, they say "CiCi you later!"? When we realized ours closed, we were driving past and DD10 said "CiCi you never!"

DS7 loves Pizza Hut breadsticks too! But he also likes the ones at CiCi's. Actually he likes just about any kind of bread. Thank goodness!
Yes, it is FREEZING here. It was 46 when I took DS to school. (he was taking in bday treats, so I took him in so they wouldn't get destroyed on the bus) Now it's about 52. And raining.
