Well, DH called a minute ago and commented on how cheery I sounded, (must be Shelly's TR!)

I told him about DD's phone and that I am trying to dry it out. Then I told him, I am sure this sounds crazy with DS just having lost his phone (but it has been found) and DD's getting washed in the washer today, but I think we need to get the kids new phones for Christmas.

Here's what's even crazier...

He thinks so too!!!

:lmao:

He said he would have bet money that neither one of them could have kept up with them for two years. And that listening to other people at work, that most kids do not make it this long without breaking their phone, getting it wet, or completely losing it.

He thinks if we get them new phones, it will increase their awareness and that they will up their awareness of how they are caring for them. You know how when you get something new, you are really careful with it until the "new" wears off.

Well, the "new" has definately worn off of these phones. The paint is peeling off of DS's and DD's paint is very scratched, etc.

Also, my MIL has asked us to buy their gifts for the kids this year since she just had surgery. I think the phones may be from MIL and FIL. We will see! DH said he may try to take care of this one as he likes going to the phone store.

:thumbsup2

Oh we L-O-V-E when it rains at DLR! It clears out the park and it looks totally different at night. I wished I took more pictures to show the different kinds reflections and such. I am glad you enjoyed the shots.

Sorry about all the rain Sea. But the Christmas lights sure do look pretty shining off of everything that is wet! :santa::goodvibes

Sea - The lights look beautiful!

Awwww, Sea- it rained on your parade! I'm so sorry! I hope your time was fun even in the rain. The pics are beautiful- I love the tree one!
Thanks for sharing it!
Jo

Awww that is so cute indeed. Glad to hear you all enjoyed the movie.

We enjoyed the show, Emmy and her friend Sofia were dancing during all the songs. It was very cute.

Considering what my boys put their phones through on a daily basis, 2 years is a miracle in my book.

I am sure that they will love the new phones. Are you going to get them smart phones?

Thank you Sea! I was hoping you would chime in. That makes me feel so much better. (I knew your kids have phones and I think maybe MCat. I'm not sure if any of the other MAYers kiddos are phone carriers yet.)

DH is thinking about getting them iPhones. He says there is something you can do to screen the internet on it like NET nanny.

The kids both have iPods, DS's iPod was washed once but still worked after, but had a few issues.

I think it would be great for DD to have an iPhone. She would have her music on it for drums and for dance. And I wouldn't have to worry about her keeping up with 2 things, although like I said, she has done a great job.

Do your boys have smart phones?

Hi Mayers! I feel like it's been forever since I've been on the DIS and actually had time to visit all the threads I like to visit. I feel so overwhelmed lately!

My weekend in a nutshell...
Saturday- Went shopping for a new printer and vacuum- they both broke last week. Accidentally bought the new HP movie while at Best Buy. :rolleyes1 Took DS to a birthday party in the afternoon. A little girl vomited before the party even started. :sad2: Grabbed a pizza. Drove around looking at Christmas lights. Watched the HP movie with DH.
Sunday- Tried out my new vacuum. Cleaned my house. Shopped for everything needed for the 2 Christmas parties I'm hosting this weekend (one Friday for my day care families and one Sat for my Dad's side of the family). Went to see Princess and the Frog- loved it! Came home finished laundry and my Christmas cards.

Phew- I'm tired! And today I've been pooped on and already have one stirring that should be sleeping.

Come on Disney!!!! I need a break! Only 39 more days to go. :woohoo:

Mari and Lakehead- I looked for you at the theater yesterday but didn't see you. Wasn't Princess and the Frog great! Even DS liked it.

Sea- I love the pic you took looking up at the tree. We're making chocolate covered pretzels and cookies this week too- I just wish I was taking mine to DL too.

NC- I don't think I've even managed to keep a phone for 2 years. You're kids did well.

Hope everyone is doing well.

My wife and Chris have the T-Mobile Dash, which is a PC smart phone. I have the BlackBerry Curve and Jeremy has a Razor.

I have many friends who have the iphone and love them. Be sure to buy the skins that go around them so that the phone doesn't slip out of your hand easily. You don't want to drop an iphone. LOL!

Sounds like you had a BUSY weekend!!!

My downstairs vacuum is a Kenmore. I hope you like yours. It sucks up everything. Even stuff you don't want to get sucked up. But dang that thing is heavy!!! Hence the upstairs and downstairs vacuums. We have a cheap, cheap dirt devil upstairs. It does a good job, but occasionally I lug the Kenmore up there as I think it sucks stuff up down to the sub floor!!!

Thanks for your phone comment! That makes me feel better too!!!

I have friends that have the BB Curve and love it!!!

DH switched to the iPhone in May. He really likes it and the kids have had phone envy ever since!

I have DD's phone plugged into the charger right now. The charging battery light did come one but the screen looks hazy. :sad2: Not sure what will happen.

Hi Sea!

:cool1:

How is cool California?????
Cool? Warm?? Wonderful??????:cloud9:

What's for lunch???????????

Jo

Actually, we are having very nice cool weather. About 65, clear and sunny. As for lunch plans, I haven't figured that out yet - have to think about it.

Hi Shelly - I am doing well today. I am really enjoying your TR. I especially like your video too! It is so cool that you did that!

I'm here Sea! How are you?

I'm just working hard on my TR. My favorite part is up!! :cool1:

Okay- can I just say how cool it is booking your ADR's online??

I think it might be the cooliest thing ev-ah.:cool2:

Nice weather Sea! It's clear and sunny here too--- just clear and sunny and 30 degrees.

Lunch Report!

La Salsa - Two steak tacos, chips and a Coke - $8.45. The salsa wasn't spicy enough for me and I really don't go out of my way for La Salsa, but since it was close by and not busy it would have to do. Overall, it was good, not great, yet still yummy and satisfying. The food is fresh and cooked well.

To me, what makes a good Mexican food place is it's salsa and guacamole.

Bottom line - I would go here rather than Taco Bell or Del Taco.

Shelly- talking to people is sooooooo overrated.:snooty:

Sea- great lunch report! We love Mexican food. My Dad used to make killer Mexican food- he grew up eating a ton of it in Southern Arizona, so he'd always impress us with his culinary skillz.:) When they came out with canned salsa waaaaay back when, I was --- b/c my dad had been whipping up fresh salsa all my life. He'd fry his own corn tortillas and make REAL tacos too. YUM.

Now you have to give me another lunch report for today. I'm feeling like some seafood.:lmao: Must be because I've got Charleston in my crosshairs- we leave in 3 days. Here's where I'm taking my Mom for her Christmas Supper--- http://www.vendueinn.com/html/top-restaurants-charleston.asp

If you ever make it to Charleston- it is one of the most beautiful places to stay.:goodvibes

Hey Jo - I love homemade Mexican food - it is the best. Christopher makes a great guacamole, and Lena makes excellent chicken and steak fajitas. My wife can eat Mexican food everyday. She is the chips and salsa lady.

I "have to" give you another lunch report today? Hmmmm:lmao:

The Vendue Inn looks like a great place. You will have to give us a report. Don't forget to take pictures. LOL

Sad news - I just got a call from a friend that Roy Disney just passed away.

He was Walt's nephew and was in charge of the animation department of WDS and oversaw the re-vitalization of that art form. Most recently he was instrumental of bringing Pixar and John Lasseter into the fold of Disney permanently and push for more of what made Disney so great.

Sad to hear he is gone.
