RF & Lake - i didn't know u guys were meeting up... i'm glad you guys had a great time more info please...
....
haha - Well I can give you a little TR from my point of view if you like.
Well after the 4 of us meeting last summer in PA, we have spent quite a bit of time chatting and communicating with each other since on facebook

, and we found that the 4 of us had become quite good friends and thought it would be fun to get together again.
Finding time to get to Pittsburgh was hard, and having Heather and Bob get to Canada would be harder without them having passports.
As you know Jason and I love our little overnight getaways when we can get them, and since we hadn't had one in a while and knowing it would be a while till we could again we wanted a quick getaway and decided that maybe meeting half way...about 2 .5 or 3 hours each would be the best idea. So we put out the idea, and tried to make it happen, luckily it did.
So ...what is a fun thing to do half way between our two cities and that we would all like. CEDAR POINT.
So we made plans and all took Friday off of work and drove up to Sandusky OHIO in the morning.
We met up just after lunch, checked into the Cedar Point Castaway Bay waterpark and hotel, did a little shopping together at Target (picked up some bottles of water and stuff), then headed to Cedar Point for Twilight Nights. We had heard that there was a chance of thunderstorms for Saturday

so we thought going Friday night as well was a good idea in case it did storm the next day.
From 5- 11 pm you can use the park for a reduced rate. It was so great, the longest we waited in line that night was 20 minutes. Most rides were 5 or 10 if that. It was so much fun, and was somehow talked into doing rides I never thought I would but knew my limitations on others.

I would admit the rides I loved the most were those with water involved. The log rides, and the river rapid ones. We were WET!, and very happy about it. We had a blast, and then when we felt we were done at the park we headed back to the hotel and used the water park (since we were wet already) that was there before it closed for the night. It was so much fun, refreshing and made me feel like a kid again.
Once we were done at the water park... we went to our rooms got dressed and headed out for a late dinner... since it was almost 11 pm our options were slim so we headed to Cracker Barrell and just simple devoured our meals.... by this time we were all starving. It was us and only one other family there. When we got back to the hotel we were exhausted so we called it a night.
Saturday morning we got up, and checked out of our hotel and headed to the park. Because we were staying at a Cedar Point property we got in an hour before regular park time. So we hopped on a couple rides quickly before the crowds kicked in... and those crowds by the way never really kicked in... I would say we had less than a half hour to wait for anything our entire trip.
We spent the morning getting to all the rides we wanted to try that we didn't the night before, and some of those we wanted to try again. Then finally took a break to grab some food. Skipping on breakfast wasn't so hard considering the large meal we had eaten at 11 pm the night before.
The weather was absolutely perfect, no sight of a thunderstorm anywhere at all, though humid and hot, the breeze off Lake Erie made it very bearable. When it started to get really warm at mid day...we headed back to the water rides to cool off.
We put our belongings in a locker and purposely went to get drenched. The log ride is so much fun, because not only do you get soaked on it, but the wake you create flies so high that your boat catches up to it and then it comes down and hits ...or rather pounds you with it a second time. When you get off the ride you have to walk across a bridge across where the boats get splashed below, and if you time it right you can get drowned by the wake again. It's hilarious.
After doing the water rides a few times, and having gotten into the parks early to do everything else we wanted to try, we were starting to get a little tired, a little sunburned and would rather drive home in the light than in the dark. So around 2:30 we exited the gates...headed up to the McDonald's at the entrance to change into dry clothes for the ride home, and to say our goodbyes.
We had a wonderful time together and a wonderful little getaway for us all as couples as well.
Our ride home was good, though Bob and Heather finally found that called for thunderstorm. They drove through it on the way home. And thankfully arrived home safe and sound as well. It turns out that the storm had come through Detroit and our hometown on Friday night, before rolling over the lake and to PA, though it had missed us in Sandusky entirely.
I will say though. We may have been at Cedar Point, but there was a lot of talk of Disney. Both of us talked about our upcoming trips, and we did a lot of comparing of what we saw there to what we do and see at WDW, and who would like what. SO NONE OF YOU WERE FAR FROM THOUGHT.

- This is where I will make a little side note about chcolate...yummmmy! Last summer we had talked about the things that you can buy in Canada but not in the US and vice versa. Some how we got on the topic of Candy Bars. So after our visit last summer to Pittsburgh we sent by mail to Bob and Heather two kinds of chocolate bars called O'Henry's and COFFEE CRISP that can only be purchased here. They loved them. So on this visit we planned for what we call the GREAT INTERNATIONAL CHOCOLATE BAR SWAP. We provided the O'Henry's and Coffee Crisp and they brought us Clark'S Bar's a Pittsburgh treat. -
