These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

Oh I could go for some of those nooodles right now!!!! Great tip on the asking for "doneness" on the meat, I need to try to remember that.

That is an absolutely HIDEOUS Belle and Beast ornament!

Sounds like you need to make a perfume purchase when you get back!

Ohana! I want to try this so badly!!! I think it will HAVE to be on our to-do list for March! Fingers crossed!!!! :thumbsup2

And really… you have GOT to do something about that out of control daughter of yours!!!! Tsk tsk! :rotfl:

I was going to ask you about the bread, but I saw that your drink was a pina colada… which means you must like the coconut taste/flavor. I'm kinda picky about it.

Welcome back Brenda!

Where the hell is everyone else in your DL castle shot??!! - don't tell me you were finally given the keys to the kingdom ;)

Looks like a top day in Epcot and hoorah for finally getting a cocktail with some alcohol in it :)

Love the "cheeky" photo of Em

Aw man, we were so close to running into each other ahha. We spent from 3 onward over at Mk on the 1st!

I still haven't really gone into the American pavilion, just to see Voices of Liberty, that's it. Maybe next time?!

A nice walk around WS, lovely!!

Ah Ohana, having FINALLY eaten there, I have to say, it was delicious and super yummy, I do think it was talked up a whole lot so I may or may not have expected more than it was, but oh well!

Great new photos - you look so glamorous in Epcot in your shades. Your Ohana meal is making my low carb lunch (eaten in between avoiding flicks of baby food) look very depressing.

That guy from France is cute! I really do need to spend more time there. :)

Wow, that ornament is pretty horrible. I mean, I guess it's artistic and all but...yeah.

The American adventure is definitely not for everyone. I'm a nerd, so I love it but my husband does too. For a nap. I just miss WS.

Ohana looked fun! As long as there is bread, right?! I love E's top, so cute! Polka dots are the best.

I love Ohana! So much fun! I am being sneaky lately, and I keep showing DD pics of Disney, so eventually she will get on DH's case to go. Not that I'm having a baby in 2 days or anything, but I can dream, right?

Nice Ohana meal! So fun and yummy.

OMG there was something else I wanted to say and now I don't know what.

Ahh, yes, the American Adventure. I love it and I like the way you summed it up. I always get misty eyed at the end for that montage so I keep my sunglasses near me. I do like the animatronics in this adventure. They just seemed so representative of the time the attraction was developed.

I really need to check out the perfume in Norway... I actually found my favorite perfume of all time on my Disneymoon in the Guerlain shop in France.... I always buy a bottle on our trips, I swear it smells better than getting it at Sephora!! Surprisingly an 'Ohana dinner is not on our next two trips  I love the salad dressing and I make it at home frequently! I also agree, by the time you get to dessert there is no room! I always feel like they can roll me right out of there!! I did make the Bread Pudding at home too... It was amazing.... I was surprised at how well it turned out!!

Hi Ashley! Awww how's baby Jonah? My gosh he's what, 3 months now?? Glad you got a chuckle from that story.

Thanks for the well wishes - our mini vacation was wonderful.

Welcome back!

Jonah is 3 months already! He is doing really well, but having some tummy troubles.

The American Adventure show gets me everytime. It's so good...

I agree with Alysa, your food pictures always look so yummy. Some of us are trying to lose some baby weight here, Brenda. :lmao:

You and Em just seem to have such a fun time together. :goodvibes

In answer to your question, we had the day off but had to go back the next day. The three of us...Mark, Andy and I shoveled the driveway for awhile and then got out the snowblower once we got it to an accommodating height. Then we did the sidewalks and back patio. Luckily, we have a neighbor who had one of those huge trucks with a plow on it's front and he dug us out of our driveway where the regular plow trucks always dump the snow. :confused3

Great update; we are doing Ohana for the first time ever this trip and delighted to read your rave review. I'll tell Mark to skip the salad so he has room for dessert. And I am definitely getting one of those pina coladas.

Love the shopping excursion (and that was certainly one ugly looking Belle).

The picture of Em with the statute and the butt has me cracking up here at the office.

You got me so excited for 'Ohana! Can't wait for all those skewers! I'm definitely going to keep in mind that I can get my steak the way I want! And I love the drinks at all the Poly restaurants! They are always phenomenal!

Hmmm, I think you might lose your Women's Club membership since you didn't spend much time in Italy. I hear the ladies tend to like it there. Of course I have no idea why. :confused3

Hmm, I may have to create an "I Survived Grand Fiesta Tour" t-shirt for future trips.

Ooh, you got to see the globe haul out. I thought it was a pretty cool thing to see.

Yes I agree... Bring back the Pink! I don't know why but the new colour scheme just looks... odd.

"Someone needs to keep an eye on their kid! " :rotfl2:

Why Rob, whatever have you been hearing?? :rotfl2: Young Italian men with lovely smiles and charming accents...

That's our Rob - ever the merchandising man! Great idea about the Gran Fiesta shirt! You'll need to include LED fireworks like the ceiling!

Yeah, why did they go yellow?? It's not as controversial as the hat at DHS but don't mess with the color scheme! ;)

Looking at your food pictures from Ohana and then looking at my sad lunch right now. Sigh. :rotfl:

That picture of Em and the statue was too funny!

Hi Dave! Perhaps you can throw in a Mickey krispie treat in your lunch once in a while to pep it up! :p

Em's definitely her dad's kid! I would never do that!

Oh I could go for some of those nooodles right now!!!! Great tip on the asking for "doneness" on the meat, I need to try to remember that.

That is an absolutely HIDEOUS Belle and Beast ornament!

Sounds like you need to make a perfume purchase when you get back!

I wish I could recall who to give credit for the hint about the doneness of the meat but it was someone on the Disboards. :) It is good to know.

Yeah... not sure who that Belle got through the QA process.

I think I do see some Laila in my future! :thumbsup2

Yes Christen! You should eat at 'Ohana! Your girls would love it and they can participate in the kid's games.

I never eat much of the bread since I have to leave room for the 20 courses of food ahead but it does have a pineapple-y taste more than coconut. Yes, I love that taste combo - evidenced by my drink.

Ha!! Agreed! I need to get that kid under control...It would have been awkward to put Em in timeout. :rotfl2:

Welcome back Brenda!

Where the hell is everyone else in your DL castle shot??!! - don't tell me you were finally given the keys to the kingdom ;)

Looks like a top day in Epcot and hoorah for finally getting a cocktail with some alcohol in it :)

Love the "cheeky" photo of Em

Hi Linda!

I thought of you last weekend when Michael and I finally dined at Napa Rose!
Loved it.

That castle photo was before park open since we were in with the morning EMHs. :)

I was excited to finally try a Pina Colava. Huge mistake, I had more than a few since they were so good!!

We'll have to keep comparing notes. We had 3 more days at the parks and we were splitting time between all of them so you never know....

I've only heard the Voices of Liberty a couple times but they were awesome! I do love the American Adventure show.

I think Ohana has a legendary status among its fans but for those that try it and get an average meal with plenty to eat its more like - what's all the fuss about! We've had fun and had great servers and even danced on our anniversary there so it has some good memories for us!

Great new photos - you look so glamorous in Epcot in your shades. Your Ohana meal is making my low carb lunch (eaten in between avoiding flicks of baby food) look very depressing.

Ha! Thanks Alysa!

Oh no! I recall those days of baby food on mommy! It's a great look! :goodvibes

That guy from France is cute! I really do need to spend more time there. :)

Wow, that ornament is pretty horrible. I mean, I guess it's artistic and all but...yeah.

Ohana looked fun! As long as there is bread, right?! I love E's top, so cute! Polka dots are the best.

Agreed Jennifer! Cutie in France and Belle not so much.

ha ha! That's funny! How many people have I read about taking naps in that attraction - a few!

Bread is always a great starter - especially if it is soft and pineapple-y. :)

Em actually got that polka dot dress at Disneyland earlier in the year. :)

I love Ohana! So much fun! I am being sneaky lately, and I keep showing DD pics of Disney, so eventually she will get on DH's case to go. Not that I'm having a baby in 2 days or anything, but I can dream, right?

Hi KristinAnne!! Have you had your baby?? I wish you all the BEST!

Love the sneaky tactic. You have do employ whatever works and adorable kids is a great weapon on their daddies!!

Hi Mary Ellen! I'm glad you can related to my sentiment about the show. It is just so well done! And the video montage at the end brings it all together so perfectly! They had the same video at the California Dreams pavilion in Disney's California Adventure but it was replaced by the Little Mermaid ride so Epcot is the only place that I can see this now. :)

I really need to check out the perfume in Norway... I actually found my favorite perfume of all time on my Disneymoon in the Guerlain shop in France.... Em loves the Guerlain shop! I wear Guerlain's Samsara occasionally so I like to stop in there as well.

Seriously, they need bread pudding to go at 'Ohana so I don't miss out! That's awesome that your culinary skills created an authentic bread pudding!! I'm afraid that if I re-created the bread pudding at home that I would want it for breakfast every day. That can't be good! ;)

Welcome back!

Jonah is 3 months already! He is doing really well, but having some tummy troubles.

I agree with Alysa, your food pictures always look so yummy. Some of us are trying to lose some baby weight here, Brenda. :lmao:

You and Em just seem to have such a fun time together. :goodvibes

Sorry about that Ashley. Hopefully Jonah's tummy issues will pass as he gets a little older. That can be stressful for mommy! Hang in there.

Ha ha! I will have to give warning to look away from the photos for the dining related updates! I should include myself in the group needing to look away. We only have a few weeks before we leave and I don't think I can run far enough to help myself at this point!

Thanks for taking the time from your day to continue to read and follow along. I know mommy time is valuable. :goodvibes

Kathy it sounds like it helps to have good neighbors! Or kids that you can enlist to shovel! :lmao:

I am looking forward to hearing how you like 'Ohana! We are eating there at the end of our trip next month so I know we'll miss eating there at the same time.

Ha! Em is a character!

You got me so excited for 'Ohana! Can't wait for all those skewers! I'm definitely going to keep in mind that I can get my steak the way I want! And I love the drinks at all the Poly restaurants! They are always phenomenal!

Hi there princess momma!! I hope you love the meat and everything else!! Oh my those drinks are wonderful! I need to try one of the big pineapple drinks sometime... lapu lapus?? I hear they pack a punch!

What a nice afternoon in Epcot! That monorail is so convenient, especially when taking a break, isn't it?

‘Ohana is my new favorite meal too. Your pictures bring back good memories Brenda! :thumbsup2

I have to ask about the weather after seeing your jacket. How chilly was it?

Hi Brenda, I'm all caught up with your awesome TR again and am enjoying every minute of it! :thumbsup2

We always enjoy the show at the American Adventure. I remember the first time we were in the theatre, I missed most of the show because I kept staring at the statues on the side, convinced they were going to move, speak, sing, bust a dance move ... something. I figured the Imagineers would have done something clever with them but it was not to be. Oh well, I pay attention to the show now ... but find myself peeking off to the sides every now and then ... ya never know when one of them might twitch ... ::yes::

I have to agree with your thoughts concerning the Beauty and the Beast Christmas ornament in Germany. They're both looking rather beastly IMO. :scared1:

"I was looking for Em to be a guinea pig since I was already sporting a light citrus fragrance. Apparently she has no interest in smelling like Norway." OK, this completely cracked me up!! :lmao: Is the Laila fragrance citrusy? I love a light, clean citrus fragrance, so I'll definitely have to check it out. :goodvibes

Your dinner at 'Ohana sounds lovely, but sadly our experience there a few years ago was definitely not magical. Glad to hear your experience was wonderful! :thumbsup2

The picture of Em pointing to the Tiki's bare butt elicited another round of laughter. She reminds me of my own daughter, who is always on the lookout for things like that. :rotfl2:

Love the night-time picture of the castle.

Thanks for another great update!

Hi Brenda... I finally caught up I did not realize how far behind I got, I liked reading your review of LTT I have to admit I made a lunch reservation there for our upcoming trip mainly to try out the ooey gooey toffee cake :)..... I love the dress you are wearing in the Disneyland pictures it is so cute... I need to send you a PM so hopefully we can run into each other while visiting the Yacht Club in August :goodvibes

Hi Kelli! A monorail beats a bus any day in my book. I mean where else can you hear "por favor mantengese alejado de las puertas!"

Don't you just love the 'Ohana bread? And the salad? And the bread pudding? Actually, I don't think there's anything they serve that I don't like!

It warmed up nicely during the day to probably the low 60s?? But I definitely didn't need the jacket mid day. Being that I'm a cold weather wimp, it did get colder and the jacket stayed on longer the next few days but it wasn't bad.

Hi Carol!! Awww thanks for continuing to follow along! :goodvibes

That's funny about your American Adventure expectation with the statues. It makes sense when you think about it!

The Laila fragrance isn't really a citrus scent - it is more light floral and mountain stream kinda scent. It's not a heavy fragrance. The website for Laila describes it as "Laila is an infusion of Norwegian mountain wildflowers with just a touch of fruit inflections – including watermelon." Yeah, what they said. :)

I've heard a few negative experiences for 'Ohana. I think we're due for something other than an excellent dining experience soon since it's been so great so far! As long as I have a pina colada it has to make any dining experience better right? ;)

Gotta love those kids that keep things lively and amusing! :thumbsup2

Hi there! I'm with you! I split an entrée only because I want to have some of that ooey gooey toffee cake! Honestly! :cloud9:

Thanks! I think that was a dress that Em discarded and I "rescued".

Yes, please send me a PM for our August dates to see if we can meet up. ::yes:: We'll be there from the 20th though the 24th when we move over to BLT. Our overall dates are 8/16 through 8/30.

Saturday March 2, 2013: Day 8, Part 1

Hey look, it's even colder than it was yesterday - 46 degrees. I have to admit, I was obsessed with the weather. Each morning I would check the temperature on my phone and then step out on the balcony to see if it really felt that cold.

DSC02539.jpg

No fear, the castle was still there right outside our window!
DSC02554.jpg

While lounging around that morning, I happened to tune into the "future wife of DisneyKidforLife" TV. She was saying something about the must dos that I must do but she didn't mention donning a light jacket for the weather. :confused3

My ever so thoughtful daughter had surprised me by booking Grand Floridian Café for breakfast this day. I had originally made a reservation for The Wave since she likes it, me not so much. Instead of heading down to the lobby level we got to ride the monorail to the Grand Floridian.

DSC02612.jpg

We were at the GF at 8:30 for our reservation and asked for Robert, one of our favorite waiters. His section was full so we said no worries, wed wait. After about 20 minutes Robert came over to us and kissed me in greeting (the only CM in WDW besides the Mayor who can get away with that) and apologized for the wait but for some reason they were really busy. No problem, we werent in a hurry to be anywhere. They finally seated us in another section but Robert was our server. He sat and chatted briefly before he attended to his other tables.

DSC02644.jpg

Em and I both ordered the vanilla laced French toast with a scrambled egg instead of breakfast meat. Ohhh so delish! One of my favorite breakfasts in WDW that isn't a Mickey waffle.

Em taking her live dining review thread duties seriously!

DSC02650.jpg

Following breakfast, we took the monorail to MK where we headed to new Fantasyland. But first a few photos along the way...

At 10:30 in the morning, the line for Be Our Guest restaurant was nearly across the bridge to Gastons Tavern. Yikes!

We learned from a helpful CM that Gaston would be greeting the ladies (and gents I suppose) at the bridge so after posing by the fountain dedicated to none other than himself, we hopped in line. Rather we started the line since there was no one else there.

DSC02725.jpg

Gaston swaggered over to greet us. As you can see in this video, he complimented me for giving Em such an awesome gift of himself for her birthday. What a guy! He really played the part well. I admired his biceps to spare and yes, not a bit of him was scraggly or scrawny. At least he didn't show us that he's especially good at expectorating!

DSC02738.jpg

DSC02739.jpg

If I had more sympathy for the guy I would warn him to not tangle with any Beasts on rooftops but I figured my words of wisdom would likely not be taken to heart. I asked to for the I adore you pose and he was happy to oblige.

DSC02740.jpg

We had plans to be at Epcot for the day so we didn't stick around long. Em posed with the ladies of Main Street.

Next Up: Shall we mark something off our Must-Do list or will we??

Continued Next Post

Saturday March 2, 2013: Day 8, Part 2

Now here’s the part where I had the BEST intentions to mark one of my “must dos” off my list – take the ferry boat across Seven Seas Lagoon. Drat! The ferryboat was not running. Argh!

DSC02758.jpg

DSC02759.jpg

Ok, so we’ll take the monorail. However, when we reached the TTC to transfer to the Epcot monorail the Epcot monorail was shut down. They were busing folks to Epcot. The line was long but the buses appeared to be coming fairly regularly so it wasn’t more than a 20 minute wait.

Crazy lines at TTC
DSC02764.jpg

Crazy lines for Epcot bus!
DSC02776.jpg

We had a lunch reservation at Via Napoli that we certainly were not going to make on time. I called Disney Dining while we were still in line to see if we could arrive late or what our options were. I was on hold most of the time in line (and yes, I said I was IN the Orlando area) but after the bus came I didn’t feel like holding any longer. A nice CM saw me trying to deal with our reservation and offered to try and call someone for us. He said that they had a back door so to speak with the dining folks. I thanked him and asked him if he could just have them cancel it for us that would be better at that point.

Since we were no longer in a hurry to get anywhere we sauntered over to the new Character Spot that was undergoing a refurb. I love the timeline of Epcot milestones and park openings. The entire area has a very nostalgic feel. The construction photos are especially interesting. We said hey there to Goofy, Minnie, and Mickey. At least there were 3 of the normal 5 characters greeting guests.

Cool photo in the temporary character spot
DSC02864.jpg

Next we went to Innoventions for one of Emily’s favorites, The Great Piggy Bank Adventure. We had our eyes set on a bedroom make-over and I'm glad to say that we successfully reached our goal and were able to get that canopy bed and green shag carpet. I mean, if you are going to do it, why not do it in style?

DSC02796.jpg

DSC02803.jpg

The Flower and Garden show was still being set up and we had a preview of what was to come in the next couple days when it officially started.

DSC02875.jpg

It was about this time that we started to regret skipping lunch. Em suggested that we head to Beaches & Cream at BC/YC for a late lunch. Great idea! We kept walking through WS heading towards International Gateway.

A patriotic salute to early America

Jasmine with a coat - see it was cold!
DSC02891.jpg

The wait for a table mid-day at Beaches & Cream was only 5 minutes. We were seated at the counter which was really a great spot to watch the staff make the food and ice-cream creations!

DSC02910.jpg

DSC02913.jpg

DSC02916.jpg

DSC02930.jpg

I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup while Em decided that the pot roast sandwich sounded good. I LOVED my lunch choice! Em wasn't as enthused with her sandwich but it wasn't completely horrible.

DSC02936.jpg

DSC02938.jpg

DSC02939.jpg

I'll let you in on a little secret..... they use LIGHT whip cream here.
DSC02941.jpg

That was probably just as well since we ordered the brownie sundae to split and it had the aforementioned light whip cream topping this delightful dessert!

DSC02954.jpg

But wait... they had a special surprise for Em. They turned on the red twirly overhead light and announced that there was a birthday girl in the room. They brought out the brownie with a balloon and a Happy Birthday tune. How very thoughtful of them.

DSC02955.jpg

We hadn't eaten at Beaches & Cream in 2 1/2 years and after this pleasant dining experience I was wondering why it had taken us so long to return.
