"There's only ONE Wreck-It Ralph!" Our Oct 2012/F&W TR *3/11 FINAL update!*

Love the update! I am so excited to see the new Fantasyland! Thanks for your offer about the resort as well. We are going to be requesting Cabanas and my travel agent also put a note on the reservation when she made it, so hopefully we get it.

Day 3, continued:

MNSSHP, part 1:

We had left the park around 1:45, and headed back to CSR. We showered, got changed, etc, and were all prepared for our exciting night at MK!
As for our costumes - Aaron was the Swedish Chef from the Muppets, and I was Belle. (If you didn't follow my PTR, you don't know the saga that was my attempting to make my Belle dress...it was a battle, but I'm very pleased with how it ended up!) We had bought thought that more people would recognize my costume than his, which might have been true (hard to judge), but his costume BY FAR got more comments! Tons of random people would shout to us "Hi, Chef", or "Bork, Bork, Bork", or just "I love your eyebrows!!" HAHA! All the random interactions with guests and CMs was probably the coolest thing about the party.

The first thing we did was stop to get a photopass picture at the entrance with the pumpkins, but the CM was having technical issues with her camera, so she snapped one with ours instead:

IMG_1973.jpg

Our next plan was to have dinner before the party got started, so we headed over to Pecos Bill's. We took the pathway to the left of the castle which goes past the area where Tiana meets. Well, just as we're walking past, Tiana and Naveen must have been heading off on a break as they were starting to walk away. But seeing us, they stopped in their tracks, and Tiana just opened her mouth wide in excitement and pointed at us, and Naveen exclaimed "Hi Belle, Hello Chef!" and said something to Aaron about "visiting the restaurant". They got such a kick out of our costumes, and it was one of the most entertaining interactions we had.

We continued on our way to Pecos Bill, where we had a craving for bacon cheeseburgers, and I introduced Aaron to the wonder of the cheese sauce! As you can tell, he went a little nuts. Neither of us ended up eating our desserts...

IMG_1976.jpg

We had nothing particular planned until the party started, and quite a bit of time to kill. So we first wandered over to New Fantasyland to see if it was open yet (nope), then somehow we ended up in Tomorrowland and we enjoyed Monsters Inc laugh floor. We then made our way back to Fantasyland, and since the waits were low, we got our pictures taken with Minnie and Daisy in the new meet & greet. We had one random guest there ask for her picture with us, hehe, and one CM got a kick out of seeing the Swedish Chef.

IMG_1979.jpg

Now the moment you've all been waiting for - the explanation of our title! While we were walking around before the party started, we walked by the Merida meet & greet, and there were 3 CMs near the entrance, who again, commented on Aaron's costume! We struck up a conversation, and just ended up chatting with them about a bunch of different things. Somehow or another, one of the CMs asked if we'd been to DHS yet, and told us that the Wreck-It Ralph meet & greets just opened over there. Aaron, who had gotten wrapped up in the conversation just as if we were talking with friends, said to the CM "Boy, it must have been hard finding someone to play Wreck-It-Ralph, since he's such a huge character". Without.Missing.a.Beat, the CM replied "Well, *There's only ONE Wreck-it-Ralph*, so we just gave him a call and asked him if he wanted to come do a meet and greet." It was so nonchalant, it took a beat or two for us to realize what had just happened! What a great response - those CMs are outstanding! We weren't trying to trip him up at all, and he just handled it like a pro.

Finally, it was 7pm! It was awesome seeing the change in atmosphere, all the different lighting, and the Halloween music being played throughout the park. The first thing we did was a few trick or treat trails - it was by no means a priority, but it was good to do them while the crowds were still on the light side. We did one stop that we happened to be near, the trail by the Riverboat, then the Splash Mountain trail. That was the only trick or treating we did all night. After, we caught the first (7:45pm) showing of the Villain's Mix & Mingle stage show. This was pretty neat, especially cool to see some of the characters that you don't regularly see out and about. We didn't stay to meet any of the characters after.

IMG_2008.jpg

Every time we crossed around the park we stopped to see if New Fantasyland was open....and this time, it was!! We went in, and started exploring. We took some pictures, not many great ones since it was dark at this point, so I'll wait to post better daytime pictures in the appropriate segment. But we got a good look at Gaston's Tavern area (love the fountain). Then, we headed over to ride the new Little Mermaid ride. I have a hard time explaining this ride - it's similar to many of the Fantasyland rides like Peter Pan or Winnie the Pooh in how it takes you through the movie via audioanimatronic figures, but this ride also incorporated some other elements such as video. It was a nice improvement, I thought, and it was very clearly "new", everything just had a new feeling to it.

IMG_2037.jpg

After that, we headed over to Enchanted Tales with Belle. The posted wait time was around 30-40 minutes; and boy did the line D-R-A-G...the biggest complaint we have about this is the line hardly moves at all, and you're just standing around outside with nothing really to see or do. This could lead to some very antsy kids. In any event, we realized with how slow the line was going, and not really being sure of how long the attraction itself was, we didn't dare stay in line because we were afraid of missing Wishes. So after about 20 minutes or so, we ditched the line, and headed back to Main Street.

(Continued below in part 2)

MNSSHP, part 2:

One of Aaron's "must-do's" for the Halloween party was to eat a caramel apple! We were getting exhausted already, so Aaron grabbed us a table behind the ice cream shop, and I walked down to the Confectionary to find us an apple. Why get a boring, plain caramel apple when you can get this beauty? Holy cow was this amazing! We shared our table with another family, and had a great time getting to know them. I love meeting random strangers and being able to talk like you're best friends! It was an interesting view of Wishes - the castle was hidden for the most part, but we got a full view of the fireworks. HalloWishes was indeed spectacular, especially the finale. It's hard to compare it to regular Wishes, since we have such a fondness for the original. But it was definitely awesome.

IMG_2046.jpg

IMG_2051.jpg

After that, we were still pretty wiped out, so we decided to just wait for the parade, even though it was about 45 minutes beforehand. We got a nice spot on Main Street, and just relaxed, soaking in the atmosphere. A little before the 10:30 parade started, the Headless Horseman came by - beyond difficult to get a picture, even though he's not going all that fast! Aaron was a little disappointed that he doesn't gallop down the street. Then we enjoyed the Boo to You parade -- fantastic! Loved seeing so many different characters, again, especially the rare ones. Christopher Robin, Clarabelle Cow, the hound and the gravedigger from Haunted Mansion, etc. The only lame segment, in my opinion, is the whole country section with the cowboys and Country Bears, it just didn't seem to fit. Again, during the parade, multiple CMs made comments to Aaron on his costume, including Mr. Smee who pointed at Aaron from his float and rubbed his stomach like he was hungry.

After the parade, we still had 2 major things to check off our list, and time was running out. So we sped over to Haunted Mansion to get our pictures done by the hearse, and then to ride it one more time. After that, it was about 11:30/11:40, and we made it back to New Fantasyland and into the line for Belle. The wait time still said about 40 minutes, which ended up being about how long it took us from getting in line to exiting the attraction. The line dragged on like it did before. But this time we made it. The wardrobe sequence seemed very rushed, not sure if that was due to the CM, or due to it being almost closing time; also, much of the crowd was a bit reluctant to take on parts for the show. But once that was done, we went in to see Belle. The whole experience was interesting - Lumiere was oustandingly realistic, and Belle was wonderful. But the whole story aspect was not really interesting, unless you were in it yourself (or the parent of a kid who was in it). I had read that you could get your photos taken with Belle if you went up there at the end, which I wanted to do since I was dressed as Belle. It was quite awkward, and I wouldn't have thought to do it unless I had read about it here. But it went fine, and I got my picture with Belle, yay! All in all, I'm glad we did it since I really wanted that picture of us together, but I wouldn't do it again.

IMG_2116.jpg

We got out just before 12:30, and obviously the park was already pretty empty, especially back in Fantasyland. I took a few pictures, then we walked to the exit, and headed back after a very tiring, and wonderful, evening!

IMG_2119.jpg

Final note: our Photopass CD just arrived today, so I'll come back and add a post with Photopass pictures soon! Stay tuned...

Wow, your costumes were fantastic! Love the bit about Mr. Smee rubbing his belly. :lmao: That's great that everyone recognized you both. It sounds like that really made the party an even better experience for the two of you.

Those CM's are so quick on their feet about stuff like that. I mean, of course there's only one Ralph, why wouldn't he be the one posing for pictures? :rotfl: In all seriousness though, I agree with your husband, I would love to see who they have portraying Ralph. We missed the Meet & Greet opening by just a day or two on our trip! Also, I'd love to see who they have playing Vanellope, because in the movie she is so tiny!

Thank you! The cabanas looked really nice, I think that will be a great location for you. And you're going to love new fantasyland! It was so cool just to see a whole new section of the park.

I love your costumes for MNSSHP!! You guys looked fantastic.

Thanks again :lovestruc

Thank you to you as well! It was so fantastic having all the interactions with everyone. I definitely think that being characters gave us a better experience; not that you wouldn't have a good time without a costume. But I would absolutely recommend that people dress up, the CMs really got into it.

CMs never cease to amaze me. It blows my mind, they must go through such intense training to be able to just come up with stuff like that. I don't think I could ever be that quick and clever! They are simply awesome :worship:

LOVE the costumes!!!
Great response from the cm about Ralph! And a ready made TR title too! hehehe

Hello everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I've posted, the end of the year gets really busy. And unfortunately I don't have time for a full post, but I did want to stop by and post the photopass pictures from the first 3 days. Enjoy!

Wow, you guys got a bunch of great photopass pictures! It sucks when life gets in the way of TR writing, doesn't it?

Thank you both! Hopefully I remember now to intersperse the rest of my Photopass pictures in with my regular pictures. This was our first time getting the Photopass CD, and I'm quite pleased overall with how the pictures turned out.

Sigh, life is so busy, haha. But I actually may have some time tonight, so look for a new update soon!

Day 4:

Once again, sorry for the delay! It gets so busy around the holidays. But finally, back to my trip report! This is the start of Day 4, and we were headed to the Animal Kingdom! We were exhausted from MNSSHP, so we decided to sleep in slightly, so we got up at the not-nearly-late-enough hour of 8:15am. We got to Animal Kingdom by 9:30, so not too late after park opening. We headed to Everest to see if the wait was still minimal, but in fact the ride was down, so we got Fastpasses for later. While we were walking around, we saw Russell and Dug (from Up) out for meet & greets, I don't remember seeing them around the parks before, so that was a neat sighting. We also got some Photopass pictures right when we walked in.

Photo0905FourBySix.jpg

IMG_2124.jpg

Since we couldn't do Everest, we decided instead to ride Dinosaur. Aaron rode this for the first time on our last trip, and I wasn't thrilled about the idea, so I skipped it. I heard it's really jerky, and Space Mtn. isn't my favorite in that regard, so I figured it was probably similar. This time, however, I decided to just go for it (gotta try new things!) The wait was about 20 minutes, but it seemed smarter to do that than to try to venture to another area of the park. I thought the ride was well done in terms of theming, but I really think the ride looses some excitement when you have to concentrate hard on bracing yourself against the seat so you don't have a sore neck all day! I wouldn't rush to ride it again, but I'm glad to have checked another thing off my list!

After that, Everest was still down (ugh, the one ride we'd go on over and over again), so we headed over to the Safari. Luckily the wait wasn't too bad there either, so we waited in the regular queue, and enjoyed our safari. This was our first time on it since the changes to the story line (goodbye poachers), and luckily we were on it about a week after they released the zebras into the attraction! We got extremely lucky being very close to the zebra herd, and got some good pictures. Here are the highlights of our safari:

IMG_2135.jpg

IMG_2138.jpg

IMG_2146.jpg

IMG_2149.jpg

IMG_2153.jpg

IMG_2156.jpg

We learned an interesting fact on the safari - our guide asked us if we thought zebras were white with black stripes or black with white stripes - most of us guessed wrong. They are black with white stripes, and you know that because of the color of their nose (black).

After the safari, we learned that Everest was open again, so we crossed the park to use our Fastpasses (and to grab another set of FPs). We LOVE this ride, it never disappoints. After that, we decided it was time for lunch. We had toyed with trying something new (to us), like the Yak and Yeti counter service, however when it came time to eat, we couldn't pass up our favorite, Flame Tree Barbeque. We each opted for the chicken and ribs platter, me because I couldn't remember which I preferred (answer: the chicken. So tender!) Aaron got the Key Lime mousse, and I got the chocolate mousse, which had nice Halloween sprinkles on it!

IMG_2158.jpg

After lunch, we decided to see the Lion King show - we hadn't seen that since our first trip together, and we have heard rumors that it will be going away (either temporarily or permanently), so we wanted to be sure to see it. It was nice to see again, but it's not my favorite. After, we went back to Everest to ride that with our 2nd set of fastpasses. We then spent a little time just wandering around, we went to see the monkeys (the ones who climb around on the wires), and Aaron noticed the CM stationed was a College Program CM who had attended our university, so they struck up a conversation for a while.

IMG_2181.jpg

Unfortunately, at that point I started to get a bad headache (not sure from what, maybe just too much sun or not enough water, anything is possible). So we cut out a little earlier than we had planned, although we weren't going to stay until park closing anyway. We didn't end up doing quite a few things, such as the gorillas or the tigers, but those were not must-dos for us anyways. We took some more photopass pictures as we left, and got the magic shot with the balloons, which was well-timed since it was very windy! Aaron really played it up...

Photo0907FourBySix.jpg

So we went back to CSR to relax around 3:30pm. I settled in for a nap to hopefully feel better, because we had plans for later that evening! Stay tuned :)

Dinosaur really does jerk you around. In my experience, I have found that it is better to sit in the front. I rode in the very back once and I found it to be awful, so now I do what I can to sit closer to the front. I love the photopass picture with the balloons - your DH really did do a good job with posing!

:lmao: Aaron did a great job getting into that photo!!

I am not a fan of Dinosaur. :sad2: Not only is it too jerky for me, it's also too scary!! :scared:

Great safari pics! I really enjoyed the update attraction too with the poacher storyline gone and the zebras added. :thumbsup2

I hope a break/nap helped get rid of your headache! DH laughs at me, but I always travel to WDW with a small pharmacy in my bag so that I am prepared for just about anything! :rotfl: There is just nothing worse than feeling bad in Disney World.

Glad to see you are updating again. I actually got behind on your TR, but am trying to catch up. I'm actually in a spot where photobucket doesn't load well, so I can only see about a third of your pictures. I hate that. What a cool rainbow picture. I can honestly say in all the upteen million pictures I have taken at the world, I do not have a rainbow. That is so very cool!

I also love the PP pictures that I can see. Very nice. Unfortunately, I can't see pictures of your costumes, but I'll stop back later and check them.

Sounds like a great trip so far. Sorry about the headache. Hope it went away quickly!

It only took 20 minutes, but a few more of your pictures uploaded (I'm in a restricted area). Great costume. Love the eyebrows. Too funny.

And all of your PP pictures really are fantastic, but I especially love the sideways one of you with the balloons. that is very creative!

Oh, lol, I think we were in the back! I'm sure it does make a difference. I'll have to remember that next time.
Thanks - DH likes to ham it up! We got another one with the balloons another day, where I'm holding him from blowing away, and I didn't get nearly as into it :rotfl:

Spoiler alert: my headache did go away, haha. A nap certainly helped, and I brought some extra-strength ibuprofen, so all was better. I don't tend to overpack in terms of what we "might need", so far I've gotten pretty lucky, and hopefully that luck never runs out.

Thank you!!! I'm glad to be updating again too! I really enjoy writing this, and I was missing it, so I'm glad to be back doing it again. :woohoo: Thanks for all the kind words on my pictures - photos are my favorite souvenir from any vacation we take, so I really love it when we get especially good ones.

Day 4, continued:

So, we left Animal Kingdom, and went back to the room. I took some medicine and had a short nap, and when I woke up I was feeling a lot better. Yay! Our plan for the evening was dinner at Yatchstman Steakhouse! We had a late reservation, so we had plenty of time. Sidebar: as we were getting ready, Aaron realized he forgot to pack cufflinks for his shirt. Come to find out it's almost impossible to find cufflinks at WDW! The only place we ended up finding any (another evening) was one sole pair at the Grand Floridian (which had a 'GF' on them, which wasn't really what we were going for). We checked at our resort hotel, and then when we got to the Yacht Club we checked there as well, no luck. Oh well.

We still ended up getting to dinner a little late because of the cufflink hunt, but they got us seated pretty quickly anyway, and we sat down around 8:10pm. This was our first time at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Here are a few pictures of the restaurant:

IMG_2185.jpg

IMG_2187.jpg

IMG_2188.jpg

We had an amazing dinner - great service, and wonderful food. We started with a cocktail, and they brought out bread, and the most amazing butter and garlic. I don't generally put butter on my bread, but this butter was great, and OH MY the garlic. It was roasted, and you could spread it like butter. Holy cow it was amazing.

IMG_2193.jpg

IMG_2194.jpg

IMG_2195.jpg

So I had the filet, and I substituted the herb fries for the mashed potatoes. Good choice, the fries were out of this world. Aaron opted for...the 28oz porterhouse! This steak was unbelievably huge. He subbed the potato gratin for the fries, and he was pleased with his choice as well. We also got a side of the green beans, which were great, but we didn't come even close to finishing them (the great meals took precedence). The pictures maybe don't look especially out of this world, but really every bite was wonderful! I can't believe we each finished our meals!

IMG_2196.jpg

IMG_2198.jpg

IMG_2200.jpg

After dinner, Aaron once again chose the cheese course, and I stuck with a favorite, creme brule. I also got a virgin dacquiri to enjoy, not that we hardly had room for any of this at this point. This ended up being my favorite meal of the trip, I'd go back in a heartbeat.

IMG_2203.jpg

IMG_2204.jpg

IMG_2206.jpg

IMG_2207.jpg

We left the Yacht Club around 10:45. Our plan to get back to the resort was to take a bus to Downtown Disney. We got there, and didn't have much time before the stores were closing, but we walked around a little and explored. This was Aaron's first time at Downtown Disney. We just walked through some of the shops, including the World of Disney (checking again for cufflinks - no dice). When we got back to the busstop, they had just closed down that busstop for the night (rats), so they put us on a bus to get over to the 2nd DtD busstop, where we caught the actual bus back to our resort. We got back around 12:30pm, and crashed for the night!

Oh my gosh, that steak is GIGANTIC!!! :faint: I think it might be bigger than my head. :lmao:

Overall, the food sounds incredibly delicious though. I think if DH and I are ever able to sneak away for a date night in WDW, we might have to give it a try!

Your dinner looks and sounds wonderful. The Yachtsman is the last Signature restaurant I have on my radar (well, I haven't done Vic & Albert's yet). My DH has a milestone b-day coming up next October, so I am going to plan for it then. I am not a huge steak fan, but I do enjoy a good one every once in awhile.

Your dress is very cute. GF cufflinks - can't imagine why your DH would not want those. :rotfl:
