We stayed at the Polynesian a few weeks ago and they give out the fake flower leis to everyone that checks in. Which seems super wasteful since they are fake/not biodegradable. Odd that Aulani doesn't have them.
They told me when I specifically asked (not long ago while making a room request for our upcoming stay) that it was an issue with their supplier. Kind of weak sauce if you ask me.
After pricing out fresh flower leis and then multiplying that by thousands of guests, it actually is a pretty significant savings to not offer them. I'm sure Disney would get some sort of bulk pricing, but it's still not cheap.

Probably not but know what else isn’t cheap? Aulani points at $225 per …. Don’t think a few 1000 flower leis are gonna break Disney … i know I know …all we were promised was the chance to secure a room for all of our 10’s of $1000’s, perks come and go bwahhhhha If folks want a leis when they arrive give them a leis, those that don’t want them could certainly decline them rather than go all Brady Bunch and sacrifice them up to the tiki gods all over the property.
Yes, when we went to Aulani, it was for the last two nights of a three weeks trip. We already had a leis making class at another hotel in Waikiki and we had enjoyed the local flowers for a while. We obviously could not bring them home after. Having them be as an option is probably best.
I think it’s more eco friendly to stroll through one of Oahu’s many beautiful botanical gardens and admire the flowers than to insist upon having a bunch of dead ones thrown around your neck upon arrival.
I still care... I will always put it in the survey they send out to us. I highly suggest everyone doing that too.
We got back the adult pool by being vocal. Next leis!
