I've been seeing mouse droppings in my Prius. On the way home tonight, I felt something on my lap and it was a x*x*x mouse!! Scared me to death. We opened the passenger door in the driveway and mouse was sitting in side pocket of the door. We got him out but I'm scared there is more. I look online and find this is a common problem with the Prius. I'm driving my DH's car until he can block the holes..... My heart is still pounding.

:scared1:

Mickey drives a Prius!

Seriously, WHY would this be more common in the Prius than in other cars? How bizarre and disgusting. I'm glad you didn't crash!

Years ago we had a Dodge Neon - there was this awkward gap inside the frame when you open the passenger door. It was always full of mice! :scared1: Needless to say, that car didn't stick around very long ;)

After my recent service of my Honda, I am not surprised. They showed me the internal air filter (to sell me a new one of course) but the man told me that if I don't keep the button on recirculation that something is open and "things" can get in. I had leaves and junk in my internal compartment air filter. I keep it closed now for the very reason you experienced. I live in the woods, who knows what I'll end up with.

I had a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am & we have a garage. I couldn't understand why not much air, either cool or hot, came out of the vents. One time when the car was in for servicing, I asked if they could check it out.

Problem was rodent nests, most likely mice. I'm guessing it's because of some vents I didn't have positioned right, such as those suggested by LMC. The service tech even found kernel corn & sunflower seeds in there too. Ick!!!

Even though the circulation system worked well after that, the problem apparently wasn't solved because as time went on, less & less air came thru the vents. Later I decided I needed to have the a/c serviced but didn't because that's costly.

DH and DS have both had the pleasure of finding mice in their cars :rotfl2: DS little mouse friend chewed some wires in his buick so he ended up with a repair bill, DH was luckier with his subaru :lmao:

We checked the air filter and it had lots of mouse droppings. Ugh... I guess there are a couple of openings that mice can get through. We live in the woods but keep the car in the garage. Told my DH I want to set a bunch of traps to catch them all. Not certain if I'm brave enough to drive my car tomorrow.....

I had a 1988 Dodge Daytona that sits close to the ground. I lived in a wooded trailer park at the time and just pulled out to take the kids to the babysitter. I drove maybe 1000 feet if not a little more and here is a mouse staring at me sitting on the wiper blade. Needless to say, I turned on the wipers and he went sliding down the front of the car to never be seen again.

:scared1: I would never be able to drive that car again! You would hear me screaming all over the world if that happened to me. :lmao:

Ok, the thought of the germs that must blow out of rodent invested air filters is making me gag.

When we lived in Florida, we opened the car door to find a small toad sitting in the driver's seat. We drive a Saturn. Never happened again and we actually found it rather amusing.

If you have kids who are little (or just messy and eat in the car)...rodents and bugs are quite common according to the guy that works on my car. So it is a good idea to vacuum it quite often.

This was about 5 yrs ago, but my DH had an ant colony in his car. He had a 95 Nissan Altima, and he always had ants. Kept, spraying, they were never gone. When he had it serviced once, they found a whole colony in the space between the front door and the panel on the door :scared1:. DH cleans his car (another one now) quite often.

Reading this is making me sick....ugh! We have a chevy that fiance dos not take good care of, he is a pig with the inside of his car.
We just got a new Ford Fusion, we are not having those issues as I am the one that usually drives that car so it is currently nice and clean. But anyways me live in an apartment complex and my parking spot is right across the street from the dumpster ugh, I hope I don't have a little Mickey or Minnie in my car

That's just ~ odd.

HOLY SMOKES!!!
Totally would freak me out.. OP you did so well to even complete driving that day.

We've had those pretty little bright green frogs in our car (in FL) from time to time.

I once had a spider hatch eggs in my car. Fun times.

The worst was my neighbor who opened her passenger door to put a bottle of milk in the car and a snake was there peering at her.

THAT would have been the end for me!

Mice? I can handle mice, but snakes? NO FREAKING WAY!!!! :scared1:

Yup, that happened to me when I was 17 -- I opened the car door and there was a snake! And I lived in Michigan, so it wasn't a common sight.

No small kids in the car and we hardly ever eat in it. Just vacuumed it really well about two weeks ago. I set a bunch of traps in the garage tonight - car isn't going back in until I'm sure they are gone. I drove to work with the inside lights on today......
