Theres a mouse in my house!!!!

darn, it must be the time and I must have the stupidest cat in the world, I had a rodent that kept visiting at nights and while at discon my DD found it in her room dead, I did not put any poison around, he must have gotten it somewhere else. DH disposed of it ( you didn't think I would right? ) and I haven't seen any evidence of mice again except it's possible in the basement because until my heater pipes can be replaced I have to keep one window cracked , so they can get in and out that way. Once that window is closed again then I will know if any is still inside. YIKES!!

after I moved to Florida 13 years ago! But a few years ago, here in the Tampa area, I got a rude awakening when I went to use the toilet one morning.

I didn't have my eyeglasses on yet, and lifted the lid of the toilet and saw something dark and blurry in the toilet.

My first thought was a snake or a lizard (common in FL), but when I put my glasses on and looked again, there was this little field mouse, treading water for his life!

I screamed and ran naked through the house to my teenaged DD's room. She said "Don't kill it! Don't kill it!"

So, there I was, naked, and scooping this little guy out of the toilet with a sieve and, covering the top of the sieve, took him outside and "released" him back into nature.

I can't imagine how long he was in there! I get up often in the night to use the bathroom (in the dark) and kept thinking of what might have happened if he was in there when necessity called...

The mouse eats it, gets thirsty, drinks water, and blows up and dies. She said it works great.
OMG!!! That sounds so cruel. I would buy a trap then let it go somewhere else.

When Simba brought a live mousie into our house (he hid it in his mouth....he thought he was bring a present!) we used this trap and it worked great, the next day we had mousie and dh set it free in the woods for Simba to catch again another day.:p :teeth:

I remember growing up in the country. Every night you made sure the blankets did not touch the floor. Once the house got quiet, you would hear the skitter of mouse paws on the linoleum. Every once in a while, you would hear a trap snap and all would be quiet again.

We kept a lot of cats, they got fat on the mice diet from the house and the barn.

My husband 'caught' a mouse in the chain to our garage door. He was lowering the door after coming home, heard a 'squeak', and found a mouse dangling by a toe.. he changed directions on the door, and it ran away.

Two weeks later I come home late one evening to find one of my cats has caught a RAT, in my KITCHEN. EWWW.. It was quite dead, and my cat was quite proud of himself. (This cat was a stray when I got him, and he was already fat.. so I know he's a good hunter.) I dread finding any more in the house, though with 3 cats they aren't likely to last long.

We unfortunately had this problem a couple of months ago. We got the sticky traps from the professionals. We saw 3 mice and caught 3 all within 24 hours of seeing them. We also looked for any holes we could find and stuffed them with steel wool.

I have been checking for the last two days , I have found no evidence of mice in the basement so I think the mouse that was coming into my house was the one dd found dead in her room but since I had not cleaned up the evidence in the basement yet because it's unfinished , I couldn't tell. Well it was all cleaned last saturday and as of monday night I see no evidence however I don't consider myself out of the woods, we do have a cat but he's stupid, he hunts for mice outside the house and leaves the ones in the house alone!
