There's a First Time for Everything! A Christmas In November TR

Hello everyone. :wave2: I just thought I needed to clarify something. The last update was just our last night at MK. We still have 3 days left in our trip. I don't think I made that clear. I didn't want any of you jumping ship on me just yet! :lmao: So stay tuned!

Your MK day was fantastic. That was the most beautiful day. It was our last day so I was a bit blue. We were so close so many times. At the beginning we were in Adventureland, too (didn't get to the park until 10:30ish), but ate at Pecos, rode Splash, Jungle Cruise, tried to get my DD to do HM. We stood in that area you took pictures while you were eating at CHH. She was too frightened so passed. Then, we went to Fantasyland for Dumbo (last ride of the trip), and ice cream from Mrs Potts which looks like around the same time you were there for Tinks Treasure, but we didn't go in there this day, then went back for naps. That night we were at Downtown Disney. I will go through my pictures when we were in Adventureland and Fantasyland to see if I can see your family and will post them if I come across any possibilities.

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? ::yes:: Well, that's what our mother's have always told us anyway. So let's get this day started off right and cover the "breakfast" portion of this episode!

I must not have been a very good mother on this trip though, because this was the first day we had eaten a real breakfast since that morning at the airport. (And I'm stretching it to call that a real breakfast.)

DH walked down to the food court while we were getting ready and brought two of these back to the room for the adults.

And this for DD

IMG_1820.jpg

Does anything say "Good Morning Vacationers!" like a Mickey waffle? ::MickeyMo I didn't tell DH since he was kind enough to go pick up some breakfast for us, but I really wanted the Mickey shaped ones myself!

DD, however, was quite pleased with her offerings! The CM at the food court even gave her that green Mickey straw for free. So nice!

IMG_1819.jpg

She had some serious bed head going on!

We got everything packed in the stroller for our day and headed for the elevator. As soon as we stepped out onto the breezeway, we noticed that it felt pretty warm and the sun was beaming down. :sunny: It wasn't hot by any means, but DH and I thought it might finally be warm enough for DD to go swimming. So we did a u-turn and headed back to the room.

And here's where the "bathing suits" come into play for today! I can't even describe to you how good it feels to swim under the warm sun, in a heated pool in November! :beach: Heavenly! :cloud9:

IMG_1823.jpg

DD was one happy girl in her snazzy Ariel bathing suit! She wanted to try out the pop jets first. What kid can resist those!

Notice the little girl in pink behind DD. You'll be seeing her in quite a few of these pictures. They hit it off pretty quickly and played together the whole time. To simplify things, I'll be referring to this sweet little girl as "Pinky" from now on.:cutie:

DD and Pinky played for a bit in the pop jets and then decided they wanted to get in the big pool. I told Pinky she needed to ask her parents first before walking off. She just ignored me and took off running towards the flower pool. I looked around and didn't see anyone who looked as though they were watching her, so we went on about our business.

What a gorgeous day!

Piggy back rides are so much easier to give in the water.

The lifegaurds threw some balls in the pool which kept the kids entertained.

Continued in next post............................

I'm so glad that your trip back was much better, with only normal peoplef:cool1: I am loving your trip report. We feel the same way about our kids that you do with your daughter. When we see people who don't it's really hard for us to understand. I love the pool pics can't wait for the rest.

By now, over an hour had passed. Still looking like there's no one here watching Pinky. :confused3

The girls decide to go back to the pop jets. I found a gloriously shady spot underneath an umbrella and a palm tree and planted myself down. It's 30 degrees outside right now, so this update is just killing me! :sad2: Anyway, this was the view from my siesta area.

30 more minutes have elapsed. Still no parent for Pinky. :rolleyes1

IMG_1858.jpg

By this point we were way beyond ready to go. DD was getting cold and I wanted to get to the park, but DH and I didn't feel right leaving Pinky there until we knew someone was watching her. She was only 6 years old. I know this because she told DD. She was the very talkative, independent, never met a stranger kind of kid. So we sat there for another 20 minutes at least before a young couple (fully dressed in regular clothing, no swimsuits) walked over and told her it was time to go. Neither DH nor I had seen either one of them in the pool area the whole two hours that we had been there.

I really thought that I knew about all the special events going on at Disney during our trip like, Jersey Week, Food and Wine Festival, and all the Christmas festivities, but I hadn't read a thing about it being "Wayward Child Week" as well. I was really beginning to think that Disney had sent out a 40%off pin code good for the week of November 7th exclusively for members of the Mickey Mouse Bad Parent Clubhouse. And how was it that my family had been so lucky as to be the "chosen ones" to watch over all these orphans? Between Ron Stoppable at World Showcase, the monorail debacle, and Pinky at the pool, I was really starting to loose faith in humanity. :sad2:

Anyhow, again, I digress. Now that little orphan Annie had found a home, we felt relieved of our babysitting duties and went back to the room to change. DD decided to wear her Tinker Bell tutu over her clothes. She had glittery fairy wings as well, but that only lasted about five minutes before she concluded that fairy wings don't ride well in the stroller.

I finally finished taking my decade pictures on our way to the bus.

The decade of my teenage years.

IMG_1859.jpg

A decade before my time

IMG_1860.jpg

A decade WAY before my time, but one that I wished we could relive today

IMG_1861.jpg

Ok, we've covered breakfast and baithing suits, so now it's time for the "bouncing back".

DD was very excited to see our bus pulling up! :hyper: (Yes, I swirled out the name on the sign so I could keep you in suspense a little longer.:rotfl2:)

IMG_1862.jpg

I took this while DH was cursing the stroller, because after being here for eight days, he still couldn't figure out how to fold it up. Nice of me to just stand there taking pictures while he was struggling, wasn't it? :rolleyes1

IMG_1863.jpg

So was I finally going back to Hollywood Studios to see my Osborne Lights? Is that what the "bouncing back for unfinished business" comment was all about? Well, let's see how much of a Disney expert you guys really are!

This last picture was taken by mistake while entering the mystery park for the day. Once again, I was having a hard time figuring out my new camera. I pressed the shutter trying to turn on the video feature so I could tape our entry into the park. Well I didn't have the video setting turned on so it took a picture instead. I didn't even notice this picture at the time. After I got home and looked through all my images, I couldn't help but crack up over this. So instead of deleting it, I decided it was a keeper. I call it "Metro meets Retro". :rotfl:

Anyway, I want to see if you can figure out where we went, and this picture is your only clue!

IMG_1864.jpg

(No harm meant here, just trying to keep it fun!)

Firsts tally: 69 (Swimming at the Hippy Dippy pool)

Up Next: A do-it-yourself Food and Wine Festival, without the wine or the festival!

Yes, please do post any that you find! Well, as long as there aren't any unflattering pictures of my backside or anything! :lmao:

That's too bad that your DD is scared of HM. I thought DD would be too, so when we went in I told her it was just a dirty house that needed to be dusted really bad! She focused on all the cobwebs after that. :rotfl2: She did not like the dark room at the beginning though. Maybe your DD will want to go next time. You did the right thing though by not pushing her to do it. My DH can tell you all about what happens when you do that.

Loving the Report! I am all caught up! :woohoo:

Not so fast! I just posted another update!

Glad you are enjoying it and thanks for posting!

I'm so glad that your trip back was much better, with only normal peoplef:cool1: I am loving your trip report. We feel the same way about our kids that you do with your daughter. When we see people who don't it's really hard for us to understand. I love the pool pics can't wait for the rest.

I agree. Your children are the most precious things you will ever have. I can't imagine why someone would not do their best by them.

We had a great time in that pool. I can feel that warm water right now if I close my eyes and think real hard! :)

That poor little girl, I can't imagine leaving my little girl to play in the pool alone, how irresponsible and dangerous. Good for you for keeping an eye on her!

What a beautiful day that was! :goodvibes I remember it well. It was sunny and warm and right around 80 degrees. :cloud9: And those dang winds from Tropical Storm Ida had finally died down!

Great pool pictures! :cool1:

I can't believe that about "Pinky's" parents. Well, I can but jeez. . . some people. :faint:

Hmm. . . Love the Metro meets Retro pic! :rotfl: But not sure where you are. . . I am hoping you were at DHS, but I'm not sure that's what it looks like. . . Epcot maybe. . . :confused3

All caught up on your TR and can't wait to see where you're heading next.
We head back to the World in March and then the next trip will be a Christmas one, however it won't be til 2011.
I shouldn't complain, my DH has caved twice and after March I'll have been 3 times in 13 months.

Jinxy

I would like every day to start with Mickey waffles, sunshine, and a visit to the pool!

You are cracking me up with the pin code for the Mickey Mouse Bad Parents! :lmao: You did run into your share of wayward children!

Love the retro meets metro!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I would know that walk from the bus stops anywhere -- you are headed to Epcot! ;)

Oh, and DD's Tink skirt is adorable! :lovestruc

I agree. Maybe her parents were there somewhere and we just didn't see them? I'd like to think that anyway.

That little girl is lucky she had people like your family looking out for her!

We couldn't leave her there. We were so ready to go though. If we had been there about 5 minutes longer, I would have gotten a CM to find her parents.

What a beautiful day that was! :goodvibes I remember it well. It was sunny and warm and right around 80 degrees. :cloud9: And those dang winds from Tropical Storm Ida had finally died down!

It was a perfect day. I thought the weather was perfect all week though. I loved it being overcast. It's tough to have the sun bearing down on you in the parks all day.

I got a little carried away with my pool pictures. The water and the sky were just so so blue that I couldn't help myself.

You know that you can only choose one answer on a mutilple choice test. By trying to mark Epcot and HS as your answer, I am going to have to disqualify you! :lmao::rotfl:

Yay! Glad you are caught up!

You lucky duck........ going back in March. I'd love to go in March. I think the weather would be very nice then and I'd like to see the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot! And 3 trips in 13 months............. NO, YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN!!! I've been twice in 30 years! Now that's something to complain about!

ARGH.. where are you going??????

:rolleyes1 Can't tell!

I just realized that I lost your TR from my favorites list! That's happened to me like 3 times before. I don't know how I keep doing that. I've got to get over there and check things out!

I would like every day to start with Mickey waffles, sunshine, and a visit to the pool!

I'd take Mickey waffles every day too!

I got a little carried away with my rant, didn't I? It just makes me crazy to see people be so careless with their kids. That is the main reason I don't want to go back to teaching. The parents don't do a thing with the kids at home and then expect us to work miracles with them at school! Drives me crazy!

I hope no one takes offense to the Metro/Retro picture. I wouldn't dare pick on anyone and that's not what I was trying to do. I just couldn't not include that picture in the TR b/c it was part of the story. And I say to each his own. Their fashion styles don't bother me one bit. I certainly am not fashionable. But I think anyone can see the humor in how opposite they were for them to have been together.

The pool looks great at POP...so excited for July....we will have to use it!!

Poor "Pinky"...thats just scary that parents could leave their young child alone like that!! I cant even imagine!

I am glad there are 3 days left-I was worried.

I really do believe that God gives you the children you are meant to have.

I really like the Ariel suit. It is hard now to find suits that are cute one pieces. No more 2 pieces for awhile for A-just our feeling.

I can't believe they just left Pinky alone. Both my girls can swim-A extremely well and C very well but NEVER in a MILLON years would I leave them unsupervised at a POOL. Living in Az there are numerous drownings each year that are PREVENTABLE-sorry rant over.

I think you are going to DTD and then DHS.

Loved all the pool pics!!

It looks like your DD had a great time swimming!! I LOVE her Ariel swimsuit!! :lovestruc Where did you get it?! I cannot believe that little girl was left all by herself at the pool! That's INSANE and horribly unsafe!!! :confused3

I have no idea where ya'll are headed!! Please don't leave us hanging too long!!! popcorn::

You know that you can only choose one answer on a mutilple choice test. By trying to mark Epcot and HS as your answer, I am going to have to disqualify you! :lmao::rotfl:

 I wasn't trying to cheat, I promise! :guilty:
I was hoping it was DHS so you could see those amazing lights, but I think it looks more like Epcot. So there you have it- Epcot is my official guess! ;)

So am I right??? :yay: Don't make us wait much longer! :flower3: popcorn::

Pop has a great pool. No slides or anything like the deluxe resorts, but it's big and warm. All a five year old needs! Maybe one day when we win the lottery, we'll stay at the Beach Club. Their pool is unbelievable!

I am really hoping that Pinky's parents were there somewhere and we just didn't see them. :confused3

::yes::

I really like the Ariel suit. It is hard now to find suits that are cute one pieces. No more 2 pieces for awhile for A-just our feeling.

I agree. It actually is a two piece suit but you can't tell it in that picture. I don't like 2 piece bathing suits b/c I don't want DD showing her belly. That's just my preference. But I like the 2 piece b/c it is so much easier for them to go to the bathroom when they only have to pull down a wet bottom instead of a full wet suit. So when I saw that bathing suit at Target last year, I snapped it up. The top is long enough to cover everything but it has a separate bottom. I love it. I hope they have that same style this spring.

I can't believe they just left Pinky alone. Both my girls can swim-A extremely well and C very well but NEVER in a MILLON years would I leave them unsupervised at a POOL. Living in Az there are numerous drownings each year that are PREVENTABLE-sorry rant over.

I guess they figured there were three lifeguards there so she'd be fine. Crazy logic to me though!

I think you are going to DTD and then DHS.

We shall see! :rolleyes1

Loved all the pool pics!!

It looks like your DD had a great time swimming!! I LOVE her Ariel swimsuit!! :lovestruc Where did you get it?!

I got it last spring at Target. I am REALLY hoping they have that same style this year. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but it is a 2 piece. The top is baby doll/ A-line style and it covers the belly, but you still get the benefit of a two piece (very easy to put on and go to the bathroom with when it's wet). You can see the bottom piece a little in the picture of her laying on her belly in the pop jets. I love it! I went back at the end of the season to buy another one for next summer b/c I loved it so much, but they were all gone! If I see any at Target or anywhere else this year, I will let you know on your PTR. :thumbsup2

I cannot believe that little girl was left all by herself at the pool! That's INSANE and horribly unsafe!!! :confused3

I really do hope they were there and we just didn't see them. But 2 hours is a long time to not notice anyone.

I have no idea where ya'll are headed!! Please don't leave us hanging too long!!! popcorn::

:rotfl: Ok, I'll let it slide this time! :rotfl2: I'll put you down for Epcot then! ;)
